I'd hardly call Vestergaard one of our crown jewels. Aside from being quite good at bringing the ball out of defence and pinging a few long range passes nobody could say he is a solid, dependable defender...could they? Too slow or me.

Might be wrong but I don't think Phillips would be much of an upgrade on Stephens.

Yeah, saw that. Looking at the replay he was slightly unlucky because he seemed to just catch his opponent with his trailing leg and the guy made a meal of it. Think a yellow would have been enough.

Agree, we could do with offloading Vestergaard and getting in a decent centre back with more mobility plus a goalkeeper.

If you want a brilliant young 'keeper who we could offer a good deal to and wouldn't break the bank take a look at the skills videos of Russian Matvey Safonov. He'd make me feel a lot more confident than FF or AM that's for sure.

McCarthy is far too passive as a 'keeper. He needs to realise part of his job is to shout clear warnings and instructions to his defender as all decent goalkeepers do.

Agree this is potentially a very shrewd signing. I believe Broja has the tools to become our number one striker in a very short space of time. He looks a real athlete with pace to burn, a good engine, plenty of skill and a willingness to take on opponents whether on the flanks, through the centre or dropping deep. Will be very interested to see how he develops and how soon Ralph decides to utilise his attributes.

I'm excited by this signing assuming it doesn't hit any last minute snags. Adam Armstrong looks a good fit for us and hopefully he'll make an early impact. A goal or two in his first few matches will get him up and running and boost his confidence. With him and Broja our options up front have improved after the loss of Ings.

I think his football brain isn't quite sharp enough. His attributes are that he is quick and strong so difficult to knock off the ball. For me he is let down by not understanding the runs he should be making plus he tends to stray offside a lot. With his pace he should be able to sit on the shoulder of his markers and time the runs but he seems incapable of doing this.

Where is the Sam Johnstone the West Brom keeper going? I notice he was on the bench when they played Bournemouth at the weekend.

How about Boubakar Kouyate from Metz? Looks a bit of a beast in skills videos. Might be good alongside Salisu.

On his skills video he looks powerful, quick and able to beat opponents. Plenty of goals and assists there too. Probably won't happen but he has a lot about him that would help us up front. Maybe Tino can put a word in.

Whichever way you cut it, it looks like being a tough season for us and we will probably be scrapping to stay in the top flight from the first game to the last. I don't see many weaker squads than ours especially with Ings gone. Our main hope lies in the 3 new comers struggling along with Burnley and Palace so or me it's 3 from 6 with us right in the mix.
