  1. The stark truth is that Howe's first and most pressing task is to get Newcastle to the January window still in touch with clubs at the lower end of the table. That will not be easy by any means when you look at how tough their fixtures are. If he manages that he will have made a great start to the job and we'll then see how they do in terms of transfers in the January window. It may be that he doesn't get the full and final say on any incomings because they are reported to be bring in a DoF.
  2. But Broja is already scoring - 2 in 2 games. Don't get me wrong, I think Adam Armstrong will get goals but we can't afford to give him games at the expense of Broja who has clearly already shown he knows how to finish at this level.
  3. If playing well consists of missing a bunch of very good opportunities then yeah...they played really well. Strikers are meant to put the ball in the net and, ok Che did score, but let's be honest, we should have put that game to bed long before the final whistle.
  4. Need to start our best striker to give us the best chance of taking all 3 points. Che and Adam fluffed loads of good chances last week and just aren't clinical enough. Broja is currently the in-form striker and, for me, that means he must start if fit.
  5. After the chances they missed between them I would hope he has more nous than that.
  6. Must start then.
  7. Never heard of agents looking to move on players for big money so that they get their slice of the grubby pie? Dangling big money offers is quite the done thing from what I can gather. Gets players unsettled.
  8. We'll see.
  9. Because a desperate Newcastle would pay big money and offer him a huge wage increase.
  10. Howe looking favourite now. Doesn't seem a popular choice but this job is currently a poison chalice with the initial brief just to keep them in the Premier league. The bigger names being touted are unlikely to go for that and run the risk of having a relegation on their CV. Howe is reported to have seen a lot of our games so, if it is him, I hope he doesn't come knocking for Salisu in January because they certainly need a decent centre back to steady their defence.
  11. Agree with this. He is a tricky customer so perhaps he should be more selective when deciding to shoot and might often be better holding the ball especially in the box as he may draw fouls and win penalties. I just think on occasions he is too eager to get a shot away - that's ok and I get that he wants to score goals but sometimes holding on to the ball causes more problems for the opposition. Making the right decisions is always subjective and never easy in the heat of the game.
  12. Then we differ in our opinions of how a poacher operates which is fair enough.
  13. A poacher from my understanding is someone who has an almost inbuilt knack to be in the right place at the right time usually in a crowded penalty area and will often score from fairly close range. Haven't seen this in any of Broja's goals for us or Albania. Sorry if I'm missing something or I've got the definition of a poacher wrong.
  14. Not all of them. Many goals these days show nobody assisted.
  15. Unfortunately, and I'm not sure why, Che is very poor at heading the ball. I agree that Adam Armstrong will come good and might even go on a streak of scoring. Here's hoping it starts on Friday if he's selected. Given those same two headed chances I'm fairly confident Broja would have been registering two goals.
  16. 4 points from the next two games would be very acceptable and anything above that is a bonus. Having said that they are two fixtures we should be hoping to win given current form and circumstances. 17 points from 12 games would put us in dreamland!
  17. Red card for Villa and should have been two. How the guy stayed on after the fore arm smash I have no idea.
  18. Unfortunately in this woke era they break it even i it doesn't need fixing.
  19. Unfortunately in this woke era they break it even i it doesn't need fixing.
  20. Not sure we should stick with this front two because Broja is far more clinical. Yesterday Che missed a sitter of a header and Adam Armstrong had two clear sites of goal in the first half - one he blasted over the bar and the other he put just wide but both should really have ended up in the back of the net. I still have confidence Armstrong will get his fair share of goals and Che will too but, from what I've seen, Broja is the most clinical of the three and offers us much more overall as he can shoot, head and cause havoc by direct running with his pace and power.
  21. Ralph will undoubtedly get flak if Broja is fit and he leaves him on the bench and we struggle to score against Villa. Nothing I've seen so far convinces me that a front two of Che and Adam Armstrong is going to score a flurry of goals but I'd love them to prove me wrong.
  22. Has it in him to become one of the best centre backs in the premier League if he maintains his current rate of progress. I still think it could eventually be Newcastle who break the bank to prise him away from us because they need someone like him as their centre backs are very poor. It will be a sad day when he moves on but right now it looks inevitable. Hopefully we can hold on to him for as long as possible and when we sell it's for a huge fee and we use the money wisely. It's great to have Salisu plus Livramento who we can enjoy now knowing that we should get big money for both so puts the club in a more healthy position than if we had a load of dross with no potential sell on value.
  23. Agree with much of what you say but one shot on target tells me we'd have done better with Broja up top and he must start against Villa if fit.
  24. Broja must come straight back into the side if fit. We had an excellent win today but once again we lacked someone of Broja's class up front and hence only managed one shot on target which was the superb goal from Che. Would be great to win this one and go into the international break with 14 points from 11 games.
  25. Very impressed and pleased to note the fact that only 6 teams in the Premier League have let in less goals than us. That is some improvement on last season so hope we can maintain that. If we could just improve the conversion rate for chances we'd be climbing the table very quickly
