Saints of old again.
-
I guess the luvvies in the press will be drooling over the brilliant Steven Gerrard after this.
-
The money these guys pick up that's the least I would expect.
-
Might give them a call after this debacle.
-
Steady on, we're trying to keep the score down 🙂
-
We've been chipping away at our goal difference. Didn't think it would all be undone against Villa.
-
Agree but we've made it far too easy for them.
-
If this proves anything it's that Salisu is a brilliant centre back who we can't do without.
-
Agree, they're not great at the back but we've even managed to make Chambers look good.
-
Feel sorry for those who made the trip. They'd have set off full of optimism.
-
Oh dear, house of cards crashing down. This could be anything.
-
Let's not get hammered but it's on the cards. Think they're undoing us with long balls.
-
Embarrassing now. Ah well.
-
Our unbeaten run had to come to an end sometime and it will be today unless there is a massive turnaround in the second half. The disappointment is the fact we are being well beaten which none of us expected. Poor at the back and our passing and decision making going forward is not on the money. We need to start applying pressure and working their keeper because we've not had one shot on target which is not like us. Just a bad day at the office maybe. I'd bring on KWP if he's fit enough and maybe Adam Armstrong for some extra pace because we didn't pose them nearly enough problems in that weak first half. 45 to put it right but let's not get battered by these.
-
Old habits die hard - this is the Saints we thought we'd put behind us and against Villa who aren't exactly brilliant.
-
No Salisu, getting battered.
-
Bugger!
-
Yes, very frustrating.
-
Fair enough but he doesn't seem to be very active on here since his original message inviting fans to put questions to him.
-
Have we been had? I thought Dan Sheldon's stated intention was to come on here and answer questions from fans. It seems that this was a ploy to get some questions in and post the answers on The Athletic which you need a subscription to.

I fear Ralph is going to treat this the same as West Ham. Weak team to start and then bring on the big guns. He got lucky once and will fancy he can do the same to Citeh. Won't work. Play our full side and, with luck going our way, we could beat them. We've given them two good games so we know we can cause them problems. Over to you Ralph.
-
I'd describe us as a very good footballing side who play in an entertaining style rather than shithousers. Yes, we are far more 'street wise' now but we are a good watch and scoring some tremendous goals.
-
Play the ones who need game time and save the big guns for the quarter final. Makes more sense than playing a weak side in quarters.
-
Given that we should make the FA Cup our number one priority doesn't it make sense for Ralph to save his experimenting for league matches and pick his best side for the upcoming quarter final?
-
As others have said use this game and other league matches to give appearances to the fringe players. Then, when it comes to the most important game, the quarter final, we can play our strongest team. Experiment in the league not the FA Cup which we have a chance of winning.
