He was on the touchline waiting to come on very near the end of the game. He must surely look at yesterday's performance and see that only injuries or illness to the first choice strikers will result in him getting a game. I thoroughly enjoyed watching our Saints and I didn't need Long to come on, miss a goal that Stevie Wonder would have scored and then smile about it. He does my head in when he does that!

If I have to hear many more commentators going on about that 0-9 score line, I will plead severe provocation when I appear in court. Let it drop for pity's sake. I was very proud to be a Saints fan today. So hard to pick a MOTM. It is lovely to see the spirit they have as a team. Results like this boosts their confidence no end.

One of our better managers, Alan Ball and, heaven help us, we have had some right turkeys in our time.

I am biased towards Matt because we were born on the same little island. That aside he was a great footballer. Not the nippiest in the world as he would be the first to admit but, boy, could he score goals from nothing. Plus, he was loyal to Southampton, something in short supply in today's football.

I appreciate that VVD isn't the most popular ex-Saints player but I don't like to see any footballer get a serious injury, particularly from a reckless challenge. He was never going to stay at Southampton long term and very likely has ideas to move from Liverpool for one of the top Euro teams. You can't knock him for having ambitions. This injury may well put paid to that. There is a statistician amongst us, I am sure, who can come up with a long list of good footballers who have never come back from a serious injury to be the player they once were. Southampton's Jay Rodriquez springs to mind for me. Klopp said it would be a challenge to win the Premier League two seasons running. Well, it is now.

Adams was my MOTM. I have had my doubts about him in the past but all credit to him yesterday, he kept at it with good play throughout the pitch and a well deserved goal. Hope this sets him up for the season.

I was getting worried at 2-0 down with our backs to the wall. All credit to the Saints for not giving in and getting a point.

Perhaps it might be because we may have an American owner? Safety in numbers.

A Yankee takeover, trying to turn us into the NFL. Liverpool are desperate to stay at the top and Manchester United are desperate to get back there. These American owners have no knowledge or interest in our country's national sport. The sport of football. Their only interest is money. I hope Southampton don't vote for it, despite being sucked in with a place at the table.

I get fed up with seeing the teams who will be keeping us company in the lower reaches of the Premier League making signings and the effort to improve their squads while our Board just sit back and think everything's great. It isn't!!!

That's my concern too. If Ings picks up an injury or has a dip in form, then where are around 20 goals a season coming from? Not from anyone we currently have, that's for sure. Armstrong had a couple of chances near the end of the game to pass to a better placed team mate but didn't. Burnley have long been a jinx team for us. 49 years since we last won at Turf Moor so a pleasing result. However, the club needs to have a look at last night's win. Yes, it is a welcome 3 points, but Burnley had a long list of injured players and their bench consisted mainly of youngsters with no Premier League game time under their belts. If we are to have a half decent season then the club needs to get a move on and strengthen the squad.

Think for themselves. That's it in a nutshell. Ralph may have told them to play like this, who knows, because he doesn't seem to be owning up to it. Son & Kane sussed out our tactics very early on and took full advantage of it. There was no time in those 90+ minutes when our players thought for themselves and changed things to try to stop the rot. Why is that? Is Ralph's law sacred? Are they scared of his reaction if they don't play his way? Think they will be dropped if they disagree with him? Because if that's the case and Ralph sticks to this suicidal method of play we are in deep, deep trouble.

5 minutes was all Long needed to waste a good cross from Obafemi. Long was right in front of the Brentford goal and according to the commentator 'got his feet muddled up'. Summed the game up really.

Let's hope Mr. Bale hasn't signed before Sunday.

I know. Every season I am filled with optimism for better things. I thought if the team came back with the same mindset and enthusiasm they showed playing their last few games just a few weeks ago we would be in for a decent season. I ought to know better by now.

Although we live in a democracy with free speech, some opinions are better left unsaid. Le Tissier will always be one of the greats for Southampton fans but his tweets are weird to say the least and will be offensive to many people, so I suppose he isn't worth the trouble as far as Sky is concerned. If he doesn't keep his opinions to himself he may well find himself down the Job Centre. I would think Alex Scott has as good a chance as any of filling one of the three empty seats.

United are well known for paying stupid money. Sanchez must have been one of the worst and most expensive signings they made and all to spite City who were showing interest in him at the time.

I could happily vote for most of them as MOM. Still not convinced about Vestegaard or Long. Walker-Peters is learning and improving and despite me thinking Adams was not Premiership quality he showed that he may be capable of good things next season. I so wished Ings had scored that penalty last week but he can still pat himself on the back for a great season. I would like to see us sign a solid goal scorer to partner Ings and a robust defender. Credit to all at the Saints.

The Champions League teams he was hoping to join have obviously seen him play. Nice to finish higher than Everton too.

Amen to that. Anyone but Vardy to win it. I still haven't got over him crocking up Van Dijk!

All credit to Ings this season but why on earth do penalty takers have to faff about mid-run before kicking the ball? I don't think that puts the goalie off at all but I feel that the penalty taker loses some momentum and often makes a muck up as Ings did yesterday. If he had scored he would be 1 goal behind that little twit Vardy. I do hope Ings hasn't shot himself in the foot.
