He should know. His team hasn't managed to beat us home or away this season.

Why all the panic? 2024 is a while away yet. He only needs to have a bad run of results then fans will be wanting him gone before then. Saints are not famous for keeping managers for decades. I think in Rupert Lowe's 10 years at the club we had 10 managers. Some good, some still giving me nightmares. Someone will come along in the way all the others have. Ralph is not indispensable.

There are some very illustrious footballers in the most free kicks list. JWP only has 7 more to go to overtake Beckham. I thought yesterdays goal was one of his best, given the distance and curl. I would love to see JWP reach the top because it would be a hard record to break.

Football fans are a fickle bunch. We soon run out of patience when players/owners/managers do something we don't like. As Koolman says there were some scathing posts about JWP quite recently but he has been MOTM in his recent games and is going through a good patch at the moment. However, he will have a dip in form at some stage in the future and we will be back to wanting to show him the door. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I hold my hands up and admit I have not been very complimentary about Shane Long on here. I was just getting over the shock that he assisted Elyounoussi's goal when he scored what turned out to be the winner!

This 'anecdotal story' as you call it came from a doctor working on an intensive care ward in a hospital in the south of England. He is at the sharp end of this virus every day and he is just saying what it is like for him. If he tells me 90% of his Covid patients are unvaccinated that's good enough for me. Government figures are often shown to be inaccurate.

Well said. I worked for the NHS for 17 years pre-Covid. Labour and Tory governments have increased management on huge salaries whilst nurses and midwives are desperately short staffed and have their salaries either frozen or grudgingly awarded a 1-2% pay rise. I agree that they are long overdue for a radical overhaul from top to bottom. So many more people are testing these days so more testing will throw up more positive results but fewer cases are needing hospital treatment. What Boris must tackle are the unvaccinated. I listened to an ICU doctor being interviewed and he said all his patients on intensive care at the moment are unvaccinated. They don't want to put anything like the vaccine in their body. However, if they catch Covid and end up in hospital they will be bombarded with a huge amount of drugs all with side effects. Where is the logic? Footballers need to roll their sleeves up and get their jabs. If a club can't field a team because of Covid they should forfeit the game with 3 points going to their opponents. Anti-vaxxers should be denied access to sports and entertainment venues. Start being strict on these snowflakes and denying them their freedom and see how many of them still don't want the vaccine? I am triple jabbed and take sensible precautions so I don't see why I should live any more of my life stuck indoors because of the selfish, irresponsible ones amongst us.

The most sensible post on this thread. Anti-vaxxers are where a lot of this country's problems lie. I hope 2020 will see unvaccinated people being refused entry to sporting and entertainment events. Life shouldn't have to go on hold for those of us who have had our jabs.

Patrick Viera's Palace is a different kettle of fish to the team Hodgson managed. Good 3-1 win yesterday so they will be confident they are on the up again after a few defeats recently. I will have to brace myself for Long to be on the team sheet. Nothing we can do except get behind them and hope for the best. Ralph is in 2nd place for the next Premier League manager to be getting his P45 behind Benitez who tops the list at odds on.

Ralph celebrates 3 years as Saints manager. The longest managerial stint in the Premier League for a Southampton boss. He has had his ups and downs but given the squad and money available I think he has done a decent job. There are most certainly worse managers and we have had most of those.

Thankfully we don't have Mike Dean anywhere near this match. Villa have the pleasure of his company.
