How many more free kicks does JWP need to score from to claim the record and do they need to be scored for Saints?
-
Puts kicking a football about into perspective. A very sad time for Ronaldo and his family.

Happy days. With the faint glimmer of 4th place possible for Arsenal and Spurs losing, I thought we were for the high jump. Well done Saints!

Arsenal have had a rubbish last couple of games as well so it won't just be Saints who will be getting told they need to step up, plus there is still a faint glimmer of 4th place for them. I am expecting a lose, be happy with a draw and bloody delighted with a win. All bases covered. COYS

The cut throat world of PL managers. 10 years Dyche has been at Burnley with never much, if any, money to spend to strengthen a small and mediocre squad. Many managers would have jumped ship years ago but Dyche has stuck at it, keeping Burnley in the PL by the skin of his teeth and this is the thanks he gets. Taxi for Big Sam!!

Luca Modric, one of the few players who can be called world class. I think I read somewhere that when Benitez was his manager he tried to coach him out of using the outside of his foot.

There have been 2 fantastic games over the past few days. Man City v Liverpool and Real Madrid v Chelsea. Both matches have showcased football at its finest. The work rate, determination and energy from every player was a joy to watch. The passion from their managers, plain to see. Chelsea gave themselves a mountain to climb for the 2nd leg and at 3-0 up at the Bernabeu I thought they had pulled it off but it was not to be. Hugely disappointing for their supporters but for the neutrals a wonderful match.

You mention he has changed over the last 18 months or so. Was that around the time he lost his pundit's job on TV? I wonder if that was the catalyst. He may be making these weird statements to keep himself in the public eye. What else is he doing at the moment? There is no such thing as bad publicity.
-
Except for Paul Merson, I think.
-
As a footballer he was undoubtedly a legend but in recent years his views have become increasingly weird. He can have an opinion but these comments are best kept to himself. In the remarks he has made about the Ukraine, he should hang his head in shame. The Ukrainians are showing such strength and courage in the face of murder and wanton destruction from the Russian Army. Le Tissier is slowly but surely making himself an outcast.

Hopefully we can do a Brentford. My only concern is Long may play in place of Broja. I always hope Long will prove my lack of confidence in him is wrong. Still waiting.

Perhaps you should remove the Liberal part of your username?

We can discuss this match all day long but what concerns me most of all is Ralph's statement that Bednarek did not play because his mind was not 100% for this game. Sorry, but am I missing something? We have a quarter-final Cup tie and he isn't 100% about it! Seems as if the upcoming Poland game is more important to him. Ralph should have put his foot down and remind him who pays his wages. We needed our very best team for this match so Bednarek's attitude stinks.
-
You have answered your own question there.
-
I hope Ralph leaves Shane Long in the dressing room. A great opportunity for a header only for him to make a complete balls of the whole thing and then impedes Stuart Armstrong who had a chance to score. He does my head in. Adam Armstrong has had so little playing time but has missed a couple of chances. Please, Ralph bring Broja and Che on. Even the tea lady would be an improvement. COYS

Shane Long and Armstrong up front and Mike Dean as referee. What can possibly go wrong!!!

I did wonder who Ted Lasso was. 😂

If I have read your thread correctly there is an element of sympathy for Chelsea and the predicament they are in which is not of the manager, team or supporters making. Who could have imagined this scenario? How many clubs have foreign owners who may find themselves in a similar position to Abramovich? I was brought up with a football mad Dad who showed me the camaraderie that existed between supporters back in the day. There would be plenty of banter but you could almost feel the underlying thread of the love and respect for the game that bound all supporters, irrespective of which team they followed. Modern football has changed that. Too many nowadays are delighted to see another team come unstuck. There will be those who will delight in the huge problems that face Chelsea as there will be those who hope Everton are hit with the points deduction that will likely send them down. Wasn't quite so funny when it happened to us, was it?

I don't hate anyone in the PL but the club I dislike the most is Manchester United. The club, players and supporters have an arrogance and a sense of entitlement that is staggering at times. It's the players I dislike there. For example Pogba couldn't care less which club badge is on his shirt as long as the hundreds of thousands of pounds a week keep rolling into his bank account. Wages paid for mostly mediocre displays. Fred who must surely be a contender for worse midfielder in the PL and Maguire who has a face and attitude only his mother could love. I dislike them but I enjoy watching them because no matter who the manager is they play like a bunch of pub standard misfits. Long may that continue.
-
That's the way it works if you want to lift a trophy.
-
Man City haven't beaten us in the 2 Prem fixtures this season so I am feeling quietly confident. I would be more concerned if we had been drawn away to Middlesborough. If we want to win a trophy we have to play the top teams. Although last night's selection wasn't so bad in the end I hope Ralph picks our very best for the City game. We may have been able to take time to get our act together against the likes of West Ham last night but I don't think we should push our luck against City.
-
I hope Man City and Liverpool play each other in the next round. Like some others on here I had a look at the line-up and thought we would struggle. Still not a fan of Willy and I mean the goalie!!! 😜
-
Yes. I hope those going to the game will make their feelings felt every time Zouma has the ball.

Perhaps I have been a Saints fan for so long that I am numbed to the pain. It has been a roller-coaster ride over the years so at the moment it is nice not having to wait for the bottom half of the Premier League table to be shown to see where Saints are. A lot on here may disagree with me and that's fine, but I am happy with Saints the way they are. I know that Champions League football will never be ours but when I look at the supposedly Big 6 clubs, I don't wish we were amongst them. On the whole they look to be unhappy clubs with players not performing, dressing room disputes, prima donnas by the bucket load etc. When I look at our team at the moment I see a bunch of lads who are enjoying their football, playing for each other, for Ralph and the fans and I don't find much wrong with that.
