  1. What's the female equivalent of Lion then?
  2. I'll have what you're having. Did you watch the Saints at the end of last season? 😂
  3. If the best footballers are white with blonde ponytails, so be it.
  4. There is a post on the forum asking whether the club crest needs changing and what ought to be on a new one. As you and some others on here are clearly at a loose end with no superior men's football to watch, why don't you all find your coloured pencils and draw a picture of a nice new badge. Keep inside the lines and with a bit of luck it should keep you occupied until 'In the Night Garden' comes on.
  5. Thank goodness for a common sense reply. I am not slavishly watching every game but the bits I have seen show a sport gaining momentum with the number of spectators in the stadiums watching some pretty good football, peppered with the usual mistakes made in any match. Men's football and women's football are 2 completely separate sports and that's the way it ought to be. I can't see there ever being a time when men's professional football will have mixed teams, no matter how talented a woman footballer may be. There is a big gap on stamina, strengths and skills. Let's just accept it for what it is. Our best women footballers doing their best and flying the flag for England. What's wrong with that?
  6. The German goalie last night made some great saves.
  7. Best watch something else then.
  8. We can beat Northern Ireland without too much trouble. I would prefer to see them taking it steadier, reserving energy and minimising the chances for injuries rather than 'hammering' them. Keep something in the tank for the tougher teams ahead.
  9. Italy bucked up in the second half or France eased off, not sure which. Germany look the best team to me at the moment.
  10. He hasn't had the best of starts for us so a loan to a lower side may be a good move all round but only if there are plans for at least 1 more striker. My blood pressure won't be able to cope with Shane Long being a regular starter.
  11. I would rather keep him if we can and if he wants to stay. No point keeping a player who wants out. We know what WP can do and I think we might struggle to find a suitable replacement for him. Better the devil you know sometimes. I would just like to see us build around our best players and have some ambition for better things. Never seems to happen, though.
  12. Like you I enjoyed watching my fellow Islander score some incredible goals for the one and only club he played for professionally. He certainly was an amazing footballer. He is entitled to his opinions however strange they may appear to some of us. I do think he has a point about being almost forced to wear a Black Lives Matter badge.
  13. It may be my memory going to pot but didn't we have a spell where we seemed to draw Forest in most cup games? Going back a while.
  14. Shay Given might have a different opinion.
  15. I agree. Come the end of the season managers must know who is leaving, what positions need strengthening and who they would like to sign depending on available cash. With next season starting earlier due to the Qatar World Cup I hoped we would crack on getting the team in place in good time. Saints often seem to be slow out of the starting blocks compared to many other teams.
  16. Look. I know there's not much footy to watch but Love Island???!!! Have a word with yourself.
  17. Would you offer mega money for JWP after a showing like that? Nobody will be offering mega money for Che Adams either after his woeful performance for Scotland last night. Absolutely dire. All looking good for next season. 😪
  18. I appreciate we are always at risk of losing our better players but there must come a time when enough is enough and we must do our very best to retain the likes of JWP and KWP and improve the remainder of the team around our top players, otherwise we will always be a bottom third of the league club.
  19. Exactly. Pope may cost us the thick end of our transfer money but having a competent goalkeeper is key.
  20. Phil Jones isn't called 'Calamity' for nothing.
  21. Walcott's thinking is on a par with his playing. Bale was a great player for us back in the day but he is a different proposition now. His main interest apart from golf is to be playing for Wales at the World Cup. In the few months between the start of the season and the WC, Bale will be just doing the minimum to keep fit and avoid any injury. His heart and mind won't be in furthering Southampton's ambitions so I can't see any value in paying him to just mark time when the money could be better spent elsewhere.
  22. Thank goodness. He hasn't been firing on all cylinders for some time now and needs to go. We need some fire power up front and that won't be provided by S. Long Esq.
  23. We are not blessed with an abundance of great players but I could reasonably see JWP and KWP being on quite a few club's wish lists.
  24. True. I wouldn't want to see a sizeable chunk of any of our transfer money going on Winks.
  25. Surely not. He's been poor for too long and a waste of our meagre finances. We need a reliable, steady striker and that's not Shane Long.
