I think MOTD is on this evening. Hopefully they will show Saints goals. Worth watching them again.
-
My Chelsea loving son was gracious in defeat and said Saints have some undiscovered diamonds in the making. Let's hope he's right. Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Full of fight and promise and with the exception of Cucurella, made the Chelsea team look average. More of the same please Ralph.

I can't stand him. A proper cissy and a cry baby. My point, having watched our match, was how he was left unmarked, directly in front of our goal for him to score.
-
He is a wanker who was left unmarked in front of goal and given the chance to score by 5 of our players.

Lucky old Sampdoria. I had a nasty feeling he may have been on his way to another team beginning with S. And breathe.........

Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread

Man City v Chelsea will get rid of one of the big clubs. I was hoping for Crawley Town away as that's quite close to me. -
Fickle lot some football fans. I bet it was packed the year they won the league.
-
Well done Saints. Never liked Maddison ever since he thought he was too good to sign for us. I was hoping Che would get another. Up the league we go!
-
I think he gets some sort of warped pleasure from admitting he made a mistake, knowing there isn't anything the club can do except face up to the points he likely lost them with his lousy decisions.

I hated Mike Dean reffing our games. He came across as biased and I think I can remember 2 red cards he happily waved at our players not that long ago being recinded by the FA. I wasn't sorry to learn that he was hanging up his whistle and shoving his cards somewhere where the sun doesn't shine at the end of last season. Good riddance, I thought. However, he hasn't gone for good and is in the VAR office. Last Saturday, Anthony Taylor, was ref for the Chelsea v Spurs match. He had an unimpeded view of the incident where Cucurella ends up on the pitch after getting pulled down by his hair. No reaction from Taylor who lets the game continue and Spurs get an undeserved equaliser. This decision caused a bust up at the end of the match and I, along with the pundits, was puzzled why the ref hadn't given something for the foul. Step up Mike Dean who has now admitted he made a mistake in not getting Taylor to review the incident which would have resulted in a likely red card. Dean needs to step away from any form of referreing. Tuchel wants to ban Taylor from officiating at any future Chelsea games, perhaps he could include getting Dean banned from anything football related as well. I won['t miss him.

Feels he's a dead man walking, perhaps?

Well let's hope so. We can play some decent football when players are in their best position and solid decisions have been made on formation and tactics. Unfortunately Ralph likes to tinker or stubbornly sticks with game plans which don't work and then it all falls off a cliff.
-
If only.........

Good point. Man U having a similar problem. I hope we can strengthen the team and I would like to see them played in position and Ralph getting a grip. Ever the optimist!
-
With just one pitiful match under our belts Ralph must be firm favourite for the first Premiership manager to be shown the door this season. I have given up trying to work out his tactics. Get rid of him before too much damage is done. He has been here long enough and is clearly never going to change. Yesterday showed that.

I see plenty of black players so what is your point?
-
Probably because at the moment the best England squad just happen to be very largely white. Women's football has come a long way but is still in it's infancy in some respects. As this sport increases in popularity we will see girls from Primary School age up and from all walks of life having lots more opportunities to take up football and as they grow and develop there will be more diversity in our national women's team.
-
For goodness sake, get a grip. Surely you are not going to be quietened by a bunch of moaners. I have never believed in letting the minority haters get the upper hand. If they get off on demeaning women and football you have to pity them if that's all they have to do. There are far more supporters for women football than ever before and it will continue to grow. That's what counts.
-
Well said. I am British, proud of it and will be supporting the England Lionesses today. I hope they can win their first major trophy but even if they lose they have done England proud. Just a few years ago who would have foreseen women's football selling out Wembley Stadium? Times are changing and cementing the future of women's football. Young girls will now have more opportunities to progress and why not? Sport should be available for all. So come on England's Lionesses, ROAR and SCORE.
-
In my area (SE Surrey) there are lots of opportunities for girls from Primary school age upwards who want to play football and you couldn't have said that just a couple of years ago. It is all looking good for cementing the future of women's football and those who enjoy and support it. Vive la Difference!

What's the female equivalent of Lion then?

I'll have what you're having. Did you watch the Saints at the end of last season? 😂 -

If the best footballers are white with blonde ponytails, so be it. -
There is a post on the forum asking whether the club crest needs changing and what ought to be on a new one. As you and some others on here are clearly at a loose end with no superior men's football to watch, why don't you all find your coloured pencils and draw a picture of a nice new badge. Keep inside the lines and with a bit of luck it should keep you occupied until 'In the Night Garden' comes on.
