Tbf that would be a good move for Ings because he will still play a fair amount just by shear numbers of games city will play over course of season. Probably suit him given injury record
-
I feel a striker then GK should be our top priorities in this window. Sam Johnstone could be affordable if WBA go down which is pretty much a banker, and of course we also stay up. I'm impressed with him. He will want to be first choice next season in PL so he can stay in England squad so we maybe a good fit.

I agree with this line up. Bednarek needs a rest. His confidence is shot. Redmond may come to life against championship opposition, he needs to because he's another one whose confidence is shot to pieces. -
He says we were to slow and lacking urgency. We have to assume he was instructing team to show more urgency therefore the players are defying his orders. However the lack of players in the box and not pushing vestergaard up for last 5 mins tells me Ralph didn't really have any answers. The pedestrian sideways crap was embarrassing and truly pathetic no matter who at fault
-
I think Ralph will rest Armstrong, minimimo and possibly bednarek. Ideally he would not risk KWP but I don't think we have an other option but to play him unfortunately. Bring in Redmond, moussa and Salisu. Then recall them again for Brighton home on Sunday. The city pitch didn't look great yesterday plus we are going to have to work our socks off to try and contain them so we will need fresh legs on Sunday.

Anyone starting to look nervously at the table?

Newcastle are going to be without st maximin and almiron for up to 6 weeks. Plus Wilson still out to end of march at the earliest it seems. -
Good. Ralph must agree macca getting beaten far too easily atm
-
McCarthy may have made some good saves but I'm thinking he should have done better on all three goals. Easy to blame him for what was a total shit show from the team.
-
Phillips and Rodrigo both out for them.
-
McCarthy has saved 3/27 pens on target (11%) in his career. Forster 39%. Davis 26%. Keeper isn't expected to save a well hit penalty that's placed in the corner but that said no many pens are not hit that well and many nowhere near the corner. Mounts pen wasnt great but didn't need to be as McCarthy never looks capable of saving one.

Jankewitz has already served his 3 game ban as FA cup counts
-
Pissing around with the ball across the back line at walking pace in the 88th minute when 2-1 down is unacceptable whether that is lack of leadership or Ralph's playbook.

With no direct replacement for KWP I think Ralph will have no option other than to go with 3-4-3. Redmond much better without the ball than Djenepo so play him at rwb to make us more solid although he's not going to take the left back on so we will have to find other ways to attack. Armstrong and Ings are key. -
I'd argue and say we deserved too lose today. It was a shocking performance in second half even before the penalty we was all at sea. No plan B from Ralph when chasing game or to react to opposition change in game plan. Players are weak mentally. Romeu was knackered and on yellow which put us at disadvantage but no alternative on bench. Zero urgency or intensity in 2nd half which is not acceptable.

Wolves line up not pleased there fans. Wolves win then 😏

5 shots on target against a team down to 10 then 9 players for 46 mins is just as big of an issue as our pathetic defending -
Perfect time to try salisu and vestergaard. Should on paper compliment each other. Need something fresh upfront as Adams and Ings just not doing it currently but absolute f all other options really. Hopefully Armstrong back. Moussa in for Redmond although him and Bertrand not good together. Armstrong on the left maybe.

He's abysmal at defending crosses, always has been. Vestergaard with one good leg is a better option for Saturday -
Are we sure Les Reed still not working at the club - smells of past times with saints being confident on signing a player who didn't want to join them 😏

Kwp still out but could rejoin training soon. Diallo and Theo both hamstring and out. Romeu out but still be assessed. Vestergaard and Salisu maybe back for wolves games -
Nothing like waiting until deadline day to determine a player doesn't want to play for you. The Southampton way.

I would play JWP at RB on the basis it's mostly about his delivery so other than set pieces he has more of an opportunity to get some balls into the box from open play at RB. Also diallo is more dynamic and we would miss that in the middle of the field.
