  1. It's the pony tail. Osvaldo, van Dijk - 2 pony tails, 2 tales of upset.
  2. I'd really love to know what our strategy is this window. Is it to gamble that the new manager will be able to drag more effective performances out of our forward players & we look to add younger players with an eye on the future or will we look to add 2 or 3 players who can immediately improve the first XI? I suspect it's more the former, given our first purchase & the relative unknowns we've been linked with so far, but it'll only really bccome apparent, I'd say, in September. It would be nice to make at least one signing where the rest of the division would look & say "yeah, great signing".
  3. Not really, they think VVD is only worth £50m.
  4. Amongst all the overpriced deals being done, there is still the odd bargain which can be found. £5 million for Chalobah would definitely fall into that bargain category.
  5. I know he's already been mentioned on the main transfers thread but, if media and Twitter rumours are correct, he could be winging his way to SMS pretty soon and I thought he deserves his own thread. Here's what the Metro thinks, for starters: http://metro.co.uk/2017/07/04/southampton-target-8-75million-transfer-for-arsenal-target-and-rising-french-star-yann-karamoh-6753398/ The next Mbappe? Let's hope so...
  6. Surprised Franny hasn't had a mention yet, actually. That tackle on Fashanu is worthy of cult status alone!

  9. I do agree. Making an occasional splash like this might also convince some like VVD, Bertrand and Cedric that would do have genuine ambitions to crack the top 6. Big money signings don't always come off, but they do give some sense of where a team would like to go.

  11. Newcastle have signed Florian Lejeune from Eibar. Gets them up and running, I guess.

  13. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/17/southampton-chairman-stresses-saints-stability-admits-claude/amp/ There was a bit on the boardroom re-structure back in May, including Martin Semmens.
  14. Cheers, it probably does. His was a little big last year so same again may do him fine, if it's less tight.
  15. What's the sizing like on the new home shirt? I need to order one online for my 11 year old and I wondered if the sizing is similar to last season's?
  16. Does Bournemouth spending £20m on a player mean they now own the South Coast???
  17. It'll be something which twists the truth a little like "Saints sell England international Jay Rodriguez just days after pledging not to sell any of their stars", completely overlooking Jay is more of a bit part player for us these days.
  18. Now Pellegrino is in place, anyone decent from Alaves we could try for?
  19. Welcome & good luck! Please ignore any phone calls from any previous Premier League employers you may have had...
  20. I'm told an announcement is imminent. Les has planned the big unveiling meticulously and I can exclusively reveal that Pellegrino will spring from Manolo's wedding cake at any moment... Happy to share whenever I'm IKT.
  21. As in announcement tonight type incoming?
  22. I think most of their fans still live in the 80s when they were winning just about everything and were seen as the club to join. Now, though, they've not won the top division in 26 years and, despite spending huge amounts of cash, have only occasionally threatened to win it again. Unfortunately, that lack of succsess hasn't lowered the sense of superiority their fans (& seemingly ex-pros) have when judging others. It's a pity many players who sign on with Liverpool can't see past their history to realise they're only now really clinging on to the shirt tails of more successful sides in recent years, like Chelsea, the 2 Manchester clubs and Arsenal.
  23. A guess or something more well informed? If it is De Boer, is it because he was our 1st pick or we lost out to Palace?
