Nah. that's just a sub-stage of denial. I know this.

You lot sound like Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict ...

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Bushey Saint replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
*ugger. If there's someone I'd like out of the club, it is Stephens. Used to be fairly steady, the odd mistake and the very occasional exciting run forward. Now it just seems to be mistake after mistake after mistake, interposed with ridiculous behaviour such as getting sent off for pulling an opposing player's hair. -
Was never going to happen. There isn't an Ipswich player with hair long enough for him to pull, the big girl's blouse.

That's about where I've been since the lead up to Christmas. So pleased to be rid of Martin, but conscious that Rome wasn't built in a day and the players probably didn't/don't have the fitness levels necessary to perform the higher tempo, high pressing game necessary. That much was obvious as we have faded badly towards the end of games, especially during what is a physically demanding period over Christmas and the New Year. To see energy levels still relatively high against Forest was therefore encouraging.
-
I would have called that a disincentive.
-
You'd have to offer me far more than a 30% discount to even think about Stephens. The man is a liability.

There's a very fine line between optimism and insanity ...

I have just re-read some of the posts from the beginning of this thread - May 23 before Martin was appointed. The warning signs were writ large, even then. What we did was exchange one (overly) committed follower of a belief system for another.
-
I started to laugh at this, but the laughter turned to tears. The man is an utter <expletive deleted>.
-
I’d be happy if he never played for Saints again. He’s just a liability.
-
It won’t be in there, but I was rather hoping there might be a clause in his contract that withholds his salary for all the time he is unavailable for selection due to needless sendings off.
-
WGS had a phrase that perfectly summed up the current style of play: "propaganda football".

Our record against Manchester United since 1923: Played 132 Won 28 Drawn 37 Lost 67 (One game before that in 1897 versus Newton Heath in the FA Cup, which we lost 3-1) Premier League years, not so good: Played 48 Won 7 Drawn 12 Lost 29 Golas for 52 Goals against 99

Someone holds an opinion at variance with yours, so they must therefore be a 'bot'. Okay.

Predictable, boring, toothless, pedestrian and lacklustre. Finally at the stage in my life when I could potentially travel to any and all Saints games, home or away irrespective of the day of the week. He's no Branfoot- Christ, no club could deserve that idiot twice - but I find his brand of football as dull as ditch water. This is going to be a long, painful season.

Where’s the stiff upper lip emoji when you need it -
If Che is the answer then I don’t much like the question!
-
Stephens has given the ball away at least four times through sloppy or misdirected passes, and played hospital balls to team mates a further three times. Walking liability.
-
What? A corpse? Bit grim.
-
I'd rather he was hanging off the raised tailgate.
-
I can’t hear it - sounds like a bat-squeak to me. Damned high frequency deafness …
-
Yes, but was he 'everywhere' (good) or 'all over the place' (not so good)? Personally I'd go for the former. Think we have a very promising young lad there, strong as a bear and his positional sense will improve with time, coaching and experience

Bad when we have to go back 40 years for inspiration

When you are trying to push Theo into a leadership role, then you know you are in trouble! Prime reason we finished where we did last season; lots of individually talented players but a distinct lack of grit, spine, and leadership.
