I have a few mates who have applied for working visas for Canada over the last couple of years and they all said it was a nightmare. Loads of hassle and they had to constantly chase the Canadian Embassy. I've only applied for a working visa once before and that was for Australia. Was all rather straight forward despite the fact I had to provide x-rays and medical records because I'd spent so long in Asia, apparently I was a disease risk.
