Summed it up perfectly. Just what we needed in the centre of the park, hopefully Wotton won't get a look in now.

Neal Trotman is Titus Bramble. A big lad who can put it about and win some headers, but prone to clumsiness and a lack of awareness. Even on the physical side he was second best against Clive Platt in the first half. He will give away a few penalties this season.

You're forgetting a certain Mr Dia too! Oh and wasn't Baseya of Congolese origin? As for Italian, didn't the legendary Argentine midfield-maestro Sarmiento also have an Italian passport?
-
If Papa get's clearance, surely he'll at least be on the bench, what with Saga away with Poland.

What languages does he speak on FM?

To be honest, I don't think visits to Carlisle, Exeter, etc will be much of a problem. He played at Verona and the weather there is freezing in the winter, he would've experienced all sorts of extremes during the winter playing at grounds in Northern Italy. Stadiums in Italy are garbage too, most are horrifically outdated and crumbling, St Mary's will seem like a eutopia compared to some of the stuff out there!!! Only culture shocks will probably be the language (I'm presuming he'll only speak French and Italian?) and the food.

To be honest we released most of those players when we were a Prem side and they wouldn't have got a look-in. It's probably the moves away that helped them become the players that they are now. If we were still in the Prem we probably wouldn't want any of them back.

Post deadline squad - not bad for league 1?

No mention of McLaggon? Anyone know how long he's out for? -

No good if his touch is awful though! Which is why his career is in a constant downward spiral! -

I wouldn't expect much activity today, some departures perhaps, but nothing else. The Jaidi deal can take as long as it needs to, as he's a free agent and I can see any other arrivals being loans, so obviously they don't need to be rushed through today either. I would be pleasantly suprised if we did do a deal for someone today (even moreso if it's a double deal for a pacy winger and equally quick striker!) -
We've already spent more this summer than most clubs in this division will spend in 7 or 8 years

It's a huge month ahead for us now. Anything less than 9 points from those 5 games will be a disaster IMO.

We need more firepower, then it would have been a meaningless consolation for them

It's Sean Davis who's walked EDIT: just seen you've corrected it! -
Last season, away at the Madejski, I had a real feeling that we would get a win there. I'd had to listen to Reading fans all week talk of the thrashing they were going to dish out, they were just too ****y for their own good. One of the best away days I've experienced since we left the Prem.

I think Volz is capable of playing at a higher level than League One and will probably go elsewhere, but that said, he's still a free agent with the season having kicked off, so you never know. Whatever happens, we need a natural right back, not someone who's been forced into that role like James. Whoever plays there needs the positional sense to do so and the pace to keep up with speedy wingers and/or overlapping opposition fullbacks.
-
Anyone mentioning the likes of Beckford need to get real. He is only at Leeds (unless he goes by Tuesday to a Prem/CCC side) until the end of the season, he's made it clear to them he will not be playing League One football past this season, which is why he hasn't signed a new contract, to see if they go up or not. We're here for 2 seasons at least, so Mr Beckford won't be coming down here. Craddock, Bishop, Jackson or Sharp are more realistic. It'll have to either be a star from a small side or someone well out of favour at a bigger side.
-
Would like to see him start a few games against League One opposition, then people can actually say with conviction whether he is up to it or not. To completely write the lad off on the back of 1 sub appearance against a Premiership side is a tad harsh.

Salon as we don't get rinsed by Birmingham, I'll still be laughing

Just heard that Morgan Schneiderlin has recommended a fellow French U20 international to AP, Garnier Fructis, apparently he has the ability to shine

Methinks that Cara Davenport will be getting disowned in a big way!

Lambert's vid really remind me of Beatts. Big, ****y, Northern striker who can hit a decent volley!

Pardew: "It's a bit dysfunctional at the moment"
oxfordshire_saint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
If by that Pardew means "I'm working my arse off to get Rasiak and Saganowski out of this club, I'll drive them both to Swansea personally if it means I can free up some space on the wage-bill for a striker or two, a winger and a utility player"
