Surely this is a mixup and he is one of the matchday mascots there?

Jan Poortvliet in relegation battle (again)
oxfordshire_saint replied to CHAPEL END CHARLIE's topic in The Saints
He actually left this country having lost money, following the compo sum he had to pay his old club. His salary was probably smaller than some people's who post on here. -
If anyone at the club is reading this . . .

Why not e-mail the club? Then somebody at the club is reading it. -
I think that was the Wycombe full back vs Gillingham that you're referring to?

I think the guy is harshly judged by a lot of people on here, he was used a pawn in the politics that used to blight this club. Having seen him play, he's a very limited footballer, but not a truly awful one. His level is the Blue Square and without his name, he'd be playing there. I envisage him being farmed out on loan to anyone who will take him until his contract expires, at which point he will end up at a level that suits his talents as there's only so many favours that his Dad can do him.

It's a matter of opinion who would go into it. There are lots of great attacking players at this level, Barnard, Jackson, Beckford, Shelvey, Becchio, etc..........

FYI - this man earns about £200k a week

At the end of the day Michael Essien claims to be a devout christian and he was once arrested on suspicion of drink driving having just come out of a strip club.

In my defence we were very, very poor that night and a 1-0 loss flattered us. To go 80 minutes with 2 International strikers (admittedly ones who didn't want to be here) on the bench whilst Paterson looked lost against a bullying Swindon backline and Lambert devoid of all support, it warranted serious questions being raised as everyone could see what was going wrong, but nothing was being done about it. One of the most frustrating games I've ever watched! But like I said, he's won my support since then, so I'm happy to admit he's looking like he's building us into a decent outfit now and has made some inspired moves in the transfer market. Onwards and upwards!

Wally Downes, next Wycombe manager?
oxfordshire_saint replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
It'll be Kevin Keen at West Ham who goes there -
Well, after the Swindon away game, I had serious doubts about his tactical nous. Since then, as he's moulded the team into his own, I can appreciate that he was severely limited with what he had to work with.

+1 It went into bloody overdrive with Goody

Southend fans' views (from their forum)

Indeed, Leeds only got 0-0 draw down there, so for us to come away with a 3-1 victory was a good showing. -
At least it should attract a decent crowd!

Bikers are just like people in general, some are perfectly decent people, some are twunts. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt as although riding a motorbike isn't my cup of team, my dad has owned bikes for the last 30 years and I know he treats the roads and the cars on them with the necessary respect. If you want to see some nutty motorbike riders, head for the autobahns. Whilst out there I saw a motorbike speeding up behind a car who must've been doing waaay over a ton themselves, the car wouldn't move over so the biker squeezed through the gap between the car and the central reservation. I actually winced as they went through!

Money can't buy taste. The thousands of pounds that he earns every week are well and truly wasted on him, that car is f'in horrendous. Given his previous with the chavtastic Range Rover and his Halfords job on an Audi R8, he should be locked up for crimes against motoring.

I want Swindon away, so they can go and bury the demons of what was probably our worst display of the season. Swindon wouldn't recognise our team this time around!
-
Indeed, it's always been a bit of a mystery of how to accomodate him best. He doesn't offer enough of an all-round game to be played in a normal central midfield role, but he plays too central to be a winger. Looks like AP is developing a good system though, it almost sounds like when we attack it's a 4-3-3 with Lallana on the left, Rickie in the middle and Papa on the right. At least when Lallana cuts inside we've got an overlapping fullback in Dan Harding.

Tilson (their manager) -Saints contention for play offs
oxfordshire_saint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
I think promotion would allow us to keep even more of this team together, I think we could convince the likes of Trotman and Papa to stay if we went up a division. Talk of the playoffs is very premature though, next target is to haul ourselves out of the relegation zone, then we can look at getting in the top half and only then can we set our sights on the top 6. -
Apparently the Tranmere players weren't happy with Barnes rapping his team talks
-
He's been labelled a "fox in the box", therefore he will be a complete and utter failure

Irani isn't suited to radio at all, infact, what is he suited to? Does Collymore still have his own show? The man is just an idiot and it's clear to see why he retired early.
-
The man is a real font of football knowledge. One of a rare breed of English managers who hasn't been afraid to experience the others footballing cultures away from these shores.
-
The player himself said that Wally Downes knows him and Pardew said he watched him when he was playing non-league and was also impressed with him in the ressie match last month. The Coppell connection is just clutching at straws.

Christ on a bike, it's a big red identikit stadium that looks the same from all angles, does it really matter? I've sat in all four stands, as long as I'm at the game, I don't care!
