  1. Unless you're classing Clifton as 5 mins from Ashton Gate, I'm not sure who I feel more sorry for, you or my missus, who lives a few minutes from The Memorial Stadium!
  2. Bath, Staines, Oxford or Wrexham.
  3. Surprised the BBC let him back on after "rapegate"!
  4. So 1 decent-ish season in the last 5 means that we've been lavished with brilliant football does it? If you hadn't noticed, the last 5 seasons also included 2 relegations, one last-day escape and a season where the team had only just been relegated from the Prem and then had less than £100k spent on it. I really should be grateful for paying my money to sit through all that shouldn't I? In the grand scheme of things, I'm not getting carried away. I simply applauded an assist, I'm not claiming us to be world beaters, I'm not claiming we'll win the cup, I'm not claiming we'll get promoted and I'm not claiming Lallana should win the Ballon D'Or. Have you had a go at anyone who's fawning over Antonio and Connolly, because the goals aside they were both a bit average? But you have to accept that goals win games and therefore the goalscorers will be applauded, no matter how average they may have been, they stuck the ball in the back of the net. Is it really so wrong to give a bit of credit for an assist?
  5. But the two seasons either side of it were bloody depressing! You're clearly itching for an argument this morning, so like I said, let's agree to disagree, you're usually someone who I considered to post a bit of sense on here, but you're getting on your high-horse because I applauded a player for a decent assist, let it go..........
  6. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one, but how many other times have we done that this season? I could argue that both of Connolly's finishes were pretty run of the mill, you see players tucking those chances away in the Wessex League, but people are giving him credit for it and rightly so. For years when we've had a team that could barely do even the most simple of things on a football pitch, let's not get the arse when people try to show some positivity eh?
  7. Apologies. In future I will save my applause for 40 yard overhead kicks and 60 yard volleys. You could say a lot of the goals we scored this season are "normal goals", but just trying to give a bit of credit, was hardly getting carried away.
  8. Not the cross, but to peel off out wide when their defenders were expecting a free-kick into the box. If it's that easy, why isn't it happening all the time. Most times that gets lumped into the box and cleared. You have to applaud the fact that they caught them cold and took advantage.
  9. Was on the wet side, couldn't decide whether to watch through my soaked glasses or squint without them, ended up doing a combination of both!!! I had to laugh when the yoof down the front were taunting the steward in the dodgy hat with "What the f'in hell is that?"
  10. Obviously the focus will be on Connolly and Antonio, but I thought Lallana was superb in the second half too. Great quick thinking to set up the opener.
  11. Go over to the memorials at places like Thiepval, Vimy, Ypres, Tyne-Cot, Beaumont-Hamel and Verdun. Then you'll know why showing some sort of respect for it all is the least we can do.
  12. I spend my weekends in Bristol (missus at Uni there) and I usually watch football at the Roo Bar down by Clifton Down station. They've got lots of screens and usually have about three different channels on, so even if it's not on when you go in, I'm sure they'd pop it on one of the screens if you asked nicely. Failing that, Sloanes on Whiteladies Road is usually decent for sport too.
  13. Cheerio Olly!
  14. He's got more chance of breaking into the first team if he goes away on loan and impresses. As long as there is a recall clause inserted, we can have him back if we get blighted by injuries. He needs games, goals and confidence, he's not going to get that sitting on our bench, so if he has turned down a loan move then his mentality has to be called into question.
  15. Rather than being better than Beattie, I'd say Lambert is the best striker we've had since Beatts. That said, who has there been in between? Rasiak? McGoldrick? Best?
  16. Kelvin's kicking is 7, I'd say that was brutally honest!
  17. On one of the old ones, anyone remember Fabio Paim? I believe Scolari took him on loan at Chelsea, only for him to be a massive flop. As far as the new game goes, Saints backline is seriously slow, Izzy Iriekpen was a great free-signing for me at centre-back.
  18. Leaving, throwing all of the black bags In the back of the black cab You see I’m not bluffing, no I’m actually leaving, and now I’m sleeping On the front step of my mate’s place Cos he stopped out, cos he’s **** faced Mr Hudson - Stiff Upper Lip
  19. Mr Hudson - Straight no Chaser Brilliant album, his first (with the Library) was one of the most underrated albums of 2007, really suprised it's taken a connection with Kanye West for him to go into the focus of the general music buying public.
  20. About time Wotte was finally sent back to Holland. Was he sharing a bedsit with Dean Gorre?
  21. Really difficult to choose 1. As mentioned, Hammond has been the central midfielder we've been crying out for and Lambert is now getting into the groove. I've been really impressed with Jaidi and Trotman, massive centrebacks scare the bejesus out of people in this league!
  22. Racially abused a bouncer, apparently
  23. The best thing about the current squad is that on paper and based on the last few performances, they're creating a bit of a fear factor. I think at the start of the season people were looking at us as a soft touch, that they could take the p*ss out of us, but now were gelling and showing people that we need to be shown some respect. Getting results away at places like Southend and Oldham will have people realising that we aren't here to fook around anymore.
  24. Search up the fine work of signor Luciano Gaucci, formerly chairman of Perugia. He sacked Ahn Jung-Hwan because he scored for South Korea against Italy, "biting the hand than feeds him" according to Gaucci. He also gave Jay Bothroyd a dressing down for not diving, signed Colonel Gaddafi's son and also tried to sign two female swedish players (which may have had it's upside!) Perugia eventually went bust.
