  1. "close of business" - depending on what business it is, they close at different times "urgent" - used so much in my office that it no longer hold any value or creates any urgency "snowed under" - has only really been relevant this week "pro-active" - sounds more like one of those Yakult style drinks "can-do attitude" - so basically someone who doesn't hate their work "don't worry, I'll pick it up on the blackberry" - you can poke your blackberry up your 'arris "regs" - when used at the end of an e-mail as a shortening of "regards" Also, anyone who uses phrases like "that was a bit lastminute.com" or "I'm confused.com", tits
  2. I consider myself lucky, all my co-workers are football fans, fairly intelligent and find it possible to talk about other sports and indeed other subjects if needed. I would probably go insane if I worked somewhere with no footie banter, gets me through the day sometimes, even if the last few years have been full of Saints ridicule. Not so much this year
  3. That's what I thought, but it was being suggested that I wanted Vera Lynn dead, which wasn't the case! Anyone in their 90s is a wise shout IMO!
  4. We play this at work under the guise of celebrity death bingo and anyone who is known to have a terminal illness is void. Same rules here?
  5. I have no reason to want her dead, nor do I have anything against our commie friend Castro, I thought it was prediction style thing. Both of em are fecking old.
  6. Fidel Castro Vera Lynn
  7. Indeed, didn't do Bobby Robson any harm going to places like PSV, Porto and Barca. Too many English coaches are blinkered into staying in this country and not experiencing other footballing cultures, the same with the players too. That said, there have been some dodgy ones, Chris Coleman for example (ok ok, he's Welsh) had an awful time at Sociedad, but I'm sure he learnt from it. The national team would probably benefit if some of our top players went and experienced something different, could solve some injury problems if prone players are introduced to sunnier climes, has worked wonders for Jonny Wilkinson in the rugby down at Toulon.
  8. I once saw Anders Svensson in River Island, no words were exchanged and his wife was not present
  9. The only player I can see leaving against Pardew's wishes is Lallana, if he slaps in a transfer request and we get a decent offer from a bigger club, we should accept it and re-invest. A player who wants to leave is no use to us. Obviously there are some players who we will be practically kicking out the door come January though!
  10. I'd heard on the ITV one they would face an X-Factor style panel?
  11. I work in Hook (luckily got stranded in Bristol overnight!) and my colleagues left around 3:30 but are still there! Your Dad has one hell of a journey ahead of him tonight!
  12. My brother works in the Thames Valley Business Park and is trying to head for Farnborough. He left work at 3 and has only made it to Bracknell so far!
  13. That video is pure gold, what ever happened to a stiff upper lip? I'm sure the staff on the trapped train were going without food and water too, or did the family in question think those dastardly French Eurostar workers were all shut in their own carriage going, "haha, zose dirty rosbiff mozer****ers, let zere children starve whilst we gorge ourzelves on zis beautiful stockpile of food and drink zat we 'ave been 'iding" Sometimes **** happens and you have to accept that the situation is completely unknown to the poor staff members who have to sort out a scenario for which they have no training. Those families should have shut up, got on with it, be thankful that there's a hell of a lot worse suffering going on in the world than they endured and take whatever compo Eurostar are offering.
  14. Cashley is suspect. Clearly a sham marriage with the Tweedy. John O'Shea was rumoured to be gay too.
  15. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/usa/2779246/Actress-Brittany-Murphy-dies-at-32.html The Sun would suggest that there may have been other factors (although it is The Sun, so taken with a pinch of salt!) It's always a little odd when celebrities die young and the first line reeled out to the news agencies is "natural causes"
  16. I was driving down to Bristol from oop North last night and around 12:30am trying to come down the M32 was scary, almost had to abandon the car, was seriously treacherous. Manage to battle my way through it and park up where my student missus lives in St Andrews but it's quite hilly round here and I'm going nowhere at the moment!
  17. Singer/Band: Ou Est Le Swimming Pool Comedian: Stephen K Amos or Rhod Gilbert Actor/Actress: Robert Pattinson Personality: like the others, I'll have to go with Jedward, but here's hoping they get assasinated Sports star: Michael Schumacher Death: Fidel Castro
  18. I have a bet with a guy at my work, he reckons Beckford will finish top scorer in the league and said I could have any other 2 strikers in the division, if one finishes higher than Beckford, I get £20. I have Lambert and Barnard, so all is going well so far! (if Barnard departs Southend in Jan and doesn't join another League One side, he gets replaced with Holt in the bet)
  19. It's void and just the other results count. I only found this out the other week when I had Stockport vs Swindon on a slip and it got called off, I just got a reduced payout on the other 4 results I had which came in.
  20. Anyone know if it's being streamed on t'internet anywhere? Surely if a game as obscure as us vs Bris Rovers was, then this one should be?
  21. Dimplex
  22. Are you for real? Connolly had an injury that could heal, it just took time. Ashton is categorically fooked. Maybe you think Pardew should have a look at this guy too? http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/news/newsid=123390.html
  23. Does it really matter? Either way, we didn't lose. Far too many pedants around, considering times are good right now.
  24. Does anyone recall a story that was doing the rounds a few years ago about Beatts getting in a scuffle after attempting to see if he could get a YTS lad to drink his **** for a fistful of notes?
  25. The Boxing Day and New Years games usually get a good turnout don't they? I'd expect around 20k for this one, especially if they bring decent support.
