  1. It's a fine line between self-confidence and arrogance IMO. If a driver doesn't totally believe in himself, his abilities, his car and his team he doesn't stand a chance of winning. It happens in so many 'sports' (and in the arts and business) and it is an essential ingredient for being the best in the chosen field.
  2. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/oct/14/uselections2008-johnmccain http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/johnmccain/3194087/John-McCain-was-not-tortured-in-Vietnam-prison-guard-claims.html Just two of the many newspaper articles on this topic.
  3. Obviously it's all a work of fiction. No intelligent woman would put up with that! Some people will do anything to get themselves in the papers.
  4. We'd be able to cut down on the number of stewa...... moderators then.
  5. I'll be delighted to eat my words and buy everyone on here a virtual pint if he does win!
  6. I'm soooooo jealous! I was quite literally weeping when watching him on Dave the other day
  7. Maybe your analogy could be improved in the following way WC: 'you don't buy a ton of cow manure unless you've got a JACKSONS field.....'?
  8. Saint George in 'rising to the bait' shocker
  9. Cripes! He started dating his second wife whilst still married to his first wife. His first wife suffered 'crippling injuries'. So he left her? Scum
  10. An H, I think
  11. Didn't it transpire that Joe the Plumber isn't actually a qualified plumber at all? So he couldn't fulfil the American Dream (unless he goes to college of course).
  12. But now, allegedly, he didn't get scars in Vietnam at all
  13. I shan't be 'up to' anything for Halloween. I will not play along with this commercialised non-event designed to put my hard-earned cash into retailers' pockets. I shall, quite simply, pour acid over any trick-or-treaters knocking on my door.
  14. Yes, you're right - he wasn't. My bad! However, I think he first met this 'terrorist' (a preacher, I believe) when he was 8! He must have been radicalised then, then. I'm not sure why he's perceived to have a chip on his shoulder though. I would have thought to have achieved what he has (not just being a presidential candidate but also being a professor at a very young age and going to the two best US universities) would polyfill any chips there might have been.
  15. So you believe the racist hype perpetrated by the extreme right-wing media too, eh? Even McCain told a stupid lemming at his rally that Obama wasn't a terrorist (or an Arab for that matter).
  16. I'm a bean counter. Will that help?
  17. Just as bad are people who say 'it's a MUTE point' when they should say 'it's a MOOT point'. Duh.
  18. I won't contribute to this fred as I don't want to bore you all with my significant lack of plans.
  19. Very creepy and not quite with it? I watched the Newsnight special last night and excerpts from the 'debate' were shown. I have nothing against 'old' people (being one myself) but he doesn't seem to know how to debate. He just kept repeating the same old mantras (or should that be 'mantrae') regardless of the topic and, at times, seemed to be on another planet. He did himself and his cause no favours IMO. Unless something fraudulent or underhand happens, Obama has this in the bag I think. Views / opinions / abuse?
  20. Maybe there really is something going on and he's learned his lesson from last time (the Paul Allen affair)?
  21. I can confirm this. He sold me some of the contents.
  22. My stripey jumper might not be such a good idea then if I'm being a barmaid
  23. Only if I have unlimited access to the bar
  24. No, sorry. I don't watch trashy soaps
  25. Go on - do tell
