"The cost of transport and security for the Royal Family, together with property maintenance and other sundry expenses, are covered by separate grants from individual Government Departments." from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_list but it does go on to explain about the Crown Estate and how the monarchy and its hangers-on is / are funded.

I most certainly did when we went a couple of years ago

All the resources should be directed towards finding and convicting child abusers and those who abuse children by watching child abuse and creating the demand for it. But I think the resources to the Child Online Protection Agency have been cut so it'll be hard for the agency to track down the scum that make and watch child abuse. Then he can have a pop at the hypocritical gutter press who praise Cameron for this move whilst, at the same time, publishing soft porn pics that any child can see

Labour trying to distance itself from the unions

Did you see him on the Andrew Marr show this morning? Very impressive and Dodgy Dave would surely have struggled with him. Mind you, Ed is reducing Dave to a perpetual state of puce these days -

An interesting, if somewhat lengthy, view on the matter in the Observer http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/jul/14/royal-mail-privatisation-business-investment It postulates that RM could eventually be owned by the Chinese government!

Quite right and, no doubt, one or two of those being so harsh sport rather large beer bellies themselves.

I have my pedant hat on. People are JUDGED by their peers but convicted by the judiciary. Politicians sometimes interfere with the judiciary. I think I'm right in saying that the then Home Secretary, David Blunkett, 'gave' the judiciary the option to impose whole life sentences. This current politicking is the product of the Conservatives' attempt to alienate us from the ECHR and, I suspect, they also think a lot of people will assume that it's all part of being in the EU. We know, of course, that Great Britain was instrumental in setting up the ECHR and we should be proud of that even if we don't always like the independent decisions passed by that court. We should also be careful what we wish for ....

And it's 40 C on court. I can't even walk around the house in 30 C without wanting to have an iced coffee!

There's a big gulf between the publicity the McCanns constantly engender and the very little publicity afforded to the parents of the little boy who disappeared in Greece years ago and, closer to home, the little girl from Gosport who disappeared from a military base in Germany 30 odd years ago.

Quite an achievement to reach the semi-finals for the fifth consecutive time. I wonder if he'll do it this year

I don't consider irresponsible bankers and US sub prime mortgage lenders to be heroes either.

If you've got children, Wroxham Barns is quite good (quite good too even without children). Wroxham is on the Broads so easy to get to if you do hire a boat. http://www.wroxhambarns.co.uk/
