  1. I think the Council is Conservative controlled? There's no way a Conservative council would spent council tax revenues on a white elephant like SMS - its (the Council's) supporters would be incandescent!

  3. OK with shares at roughly 25p - who's got £1,155,620 to help the poor man out of his misery

  5. How many shares does MW hold? I know, I know - it's posted with monotonous regularity but I can't be ar*ed to search and I'm sure one of you knows this like I know today's Saturday. Oh ..... Seriously - any ideas guys?

  7. OK the stuffed oldies have won! How many more campaigns will the lunatic right (Daily Mail) start? How dare a newspaper drive the decisions of the BBC - the same BBC that belongs to ALL of us. I don't like Ross, I don't really understand Brand (because I'm an oldie) and I think what they did was in very poor taste, but I shudder at the influence of a rag like the Mail.

  10. 4 - 3 now
  11. and Liverpool 1 up
  12. No, no I don't I prefer matte steel appliances but I don't really mind as long as they do their jobs. Which is sort of my point. HTH
  13. I have a lot of contacts within the construction industry for the NHS - all over the country - and I've never heard of Lowe & Oiver!
  14. I'm old enough to remember the complaints about Kenny Everett (sp?). A very funny man.
  15. But surely if you know in advance that you're going to be insulted (because you've been told it's offensive) why listen to it in the first place FFS Don't get me wrong - I'm no advocate for either of them. I just wish people would think for themselves sometimes instead of being led by the nose or any other protrusion.
  16. A woman scorned I understand if people have been offended, especially Andrew Sachs who is an old sweetie. But 18000 complaints? 18000 people listened to the show? I think not! Just a knee jerk reaction to what was published in the Mail. No independent thought on the part of its readership. That's the obscene part of this sorry story IMO
  17. Why
  18. Still, if the granddaughter wants some consolation, she has, at least, got some free publicity for her 'baroque dance group'
  19. They've both been suspended, apparently! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7696714.stm
  20. A la NP at the end of last season.
  21. The complaining public, to some extent, are like lemmings, and politicians and the rest of the media are jumping on a 'let's knock the BBC again' bandwagon. I didn't listen so I don't know if it was offensive / funny. I don't have strong views either way about Brand and Ross. But if the Daily Mail and its ilk get its way, we'll have censorship and that's a slippery slope.
  22. You all throw your keys in the middle of the room...... You have to be well bladdered to play that one IMO
  23. No but my dad was a builder and my brother is too. And I do a lot of work in the construction industry. Mainly marking builders' bums out of 10
  24. £150 a day plus materials.
  25. I pay the mortgage sweetie
