LOLOL Wycome is our 'other' team - Mr TF is pretending to be pleased for them
-
Cheers! It's not my week - laptop died on me earlier today so Mr TF had to rush out and buy me a new one. The thought of being immobile for 6 weeks without access to the interweb is a major form of torture!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I think I have to wait a bit for the soft tissue (tendons) to knit back onto the kneecap before I try any sort of exercise. I can't test it because of the cast but I know, at the moment, that my kneecap is wandering all over the place. But I do remember from when I ruptured the medial ligament in my other knee, that I had to flex the foot and raise the leg to strengthen the quadriceps. At the moment it's as much as I can do to hobble to the loo in a vaguely dignified fashion lol. Still, being still very supple, I can pick stuff off the floor without having to bend zee knees - that's quite helpful in my house! But at least being fit, even if old, gives me a reasonable chance of a good recovery. I'll be ironing by WEdnesday, you'll see

Royally bu$$ered mine Slipped on some very slippery decking on Thursday and ended up sitting on my bent left leg. Managed to completely detach the quadriceps tendon from my knee cap. The crack it made when it snapped was unbelievable! Had holes drilled in the kneecap and the detached tendon threaded through the holes. Crutches for 6 weeks then bendy brace for at least another 6 weeks. Bored rigid already but not so very painful so far althoiugh it f***ing hurt when I did it.

Oh wow! Les Miserables on TV right now. Saw it in the cinema and loved it then. Preparing to love Eddie Redmayne all over again

I see your good employment news, Trousers and raise you this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24536817

My thoughts exactly. They are showing the reconstruction in Germany apparently. What a shame they aren't so keen to publicise the disappearance of that little girl from the Gosport area who disappeared in Germany 30 odd years ago when her parents were serving in Germany? I guess you have to be 'respectable middle-class parents' to arrange for this sort of publicity.

I don't think they murdered their daughter but, years ago, it did cross my mind that maybe, as doctors, they had access to sedatives that they might have given her to ensure that they could go out without her waking and that it went badly wrong.

(Knock knock) please can a female make a small observation on this very male thread? We know a chap who, on getting married for a second time (and previously having had a vasectomy), decided he'd try to get the procedure reversed. It was done successfully and he now has four more children (and a grandchild although that's sort of irrelevant)/

As long as it's not a bills management company like this - be aware! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24492454

And she'll be sucking up to the Liberals and Cons in the next two weeks. Tch BBC bias eh?

I suspect you're not alone

Many of you are still missing the salient point of the article, namely if you're an unemployed / disabled benefit claimant you're somehow a shirker to be demonised whereas if you're a well paid parent who hasn't declared income in relation to child benefit you're only likely to gently penalised, if at all. It's hypocritical and smacks of double standards, don't you see? Trousers, I'm surprised that you, of all people, haven't understood the basic tenet of the article.

It's water off a duck's back these days - and no more than I expected TBH.
-
"But in a stark contrast to families being evicted from their homes by local councils for failing to pay the bedroom tax – sorry – spare room subsidy, form-shy high-earning parents are instead being given a wagged finger and a gentle reminder to file their tax assessments by the 31 January. If they do so, then "any penalties will be disregarded"." The article does make sense because it draws a contrast between being penalised and being demonised.
-
No - but the article makes a very valid point. It's a quote BTW
-
I like this quote from this article http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/oct/09/middle-class-people-child-benefit-fraudsters?CMP=fb_gu "Poor people CLAIM benefits. Middle-class people RECEIVE benefits."

Not sure if this should be on this thread or the Miliband one but I've just learned that the Daily Mail Group owns JobSite!
