Oh SOG I'm so sorry to hear this. It's a dreadful illness but, thankfully, there's much more recognition and treatment available than when my daughter had anorexia when she was 14. Are you able to take her to her GP and instigate some sort of therapy? http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Anorexia-nervosa/Pages/Treatment.aspx There was very little help available when my girl was ill and it got to the point where she was admitted as an emergency to an adolescent psychiatric unit. That worked, sort of, but she suffered a number of relapses when she was at university. Although she learned how to manage her condition she then became very anxious and very prone to IBS. But now, as a mother of two girls, she's absolutely fine. Very very occasionally she gets anxiety attacks that can lead to her being unable to eat for a day or so but this is very rare. Obviously it's very distressing for the patient and it's also really quite destructive to the family. It very nearly broke me, I have to say. But that was then - treatments and therapies are much more widely available these days, thank goodness. The underlying cause IS NOT a desire to be thin but rather an attempt to gain some sort of control of something in her life. With my daughter it was the pressure of being a high achiever. Please feel free to PM me if you want to. x

It was actually the 70s and 80s that I worked in the entertainment industry. I posted many moons ago about inappropriate behaviour of Rolf Harris that I saw first hand. But it was suggestion rather than actual touching up. In those times most women had to put up with touching up and innuendo. I was 'touched up' when I was about 12 as I was leaving the Dell with my dad. I elbowed the guy.....

It's a shame that such an important and sensitive subject is with 'humour' (sic). Maybe the whole thread should be moved to the Muppets page to reflect some of the stupid comments on here.

Changed back to an iPhone - feels like coming home
-
It's not so easy to navigate although I do understand that I'll get used to that. One thing I didn't give a second thought to was the fact that all my children have iPhones so we were able to do group conversations which I now can't do. And the charge life seems shorter than my previous iPhone too.

I'm sure you're all aware that Appy is now Oxford's manager. But, in case you're not, here's the lowdown http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28163679

Will watch this thread with interest as I've just dropped my phone into the bog and I don't think it'll dry out (trying out all recommendations / solutions ATM)

I think the judge can only pass a sentence that would have been passed at the time of the offences. There are much harsher sentences these days than there were in the 60s and 70s Although it's just been stated that the sentence has been referred to the Attorney General as too lenient http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28163593

Invoice from estate agent after changing to competitor.
bridge too far replied to Colinjb's topic in The Lounge
My daughter handles complaints and compliances for a very large national estate agent (not in the South though). When there are cases in dispute, they can be referred to the Estate Agents' Ombudsman. Be aware though that most of them get you to sign very tight contracts. -
My step-granddaughter has just heard she's got a 2:1 from Canterbury (Economics). She's had a whale of a time there, got the balance between working hard and partying hard just right and found a new skill as a cox for one of the rowing teams. She'd recommend the environment there any time.

Oi mush that's my home town you're talking about It isn't the prettiest of towns but it's a good central spot for going elsewhere. Quite expensive to live here though.

No - it must be an imposter! There's actually a paragraph with more than one sentence in it towards the end of that 'journalistic prose'!

I wouldn't be so shallow as to rate his looks rather than his ability but I have to say he won't ever challenge MoPo in the 'fit' stakes

1. He is not left wing by any stretch of the imagination 2. His father was a socialist, not a communist 3. It doesn't follow that his son necessarily 'inherits' his father's beliefs (in fact he couldn't be further removed from his father's beliefs)

We have an electric single oven, an induction hob and a combi microwave - best of all worlds ( until we get a power cut). We were very unsure about the hob (built in in a brand new house) but wouldn't ever want anything else now. So efficient and so easy to clean. The microwave easily works as a second oven.
