  3. I'm right aren't I in thinking that if other results go right they will be down to 19th this evening?
  4. A historian who has specialised in the Christmas Day Truce thinks it unlikely that the 'football match' happened in 1914 as, at that time, only professional soldiers were involved in the fighting and it would have been counter to their training to fraternise with the enemy in such a way. He thinks it is more likely to have taken place later in the war when conscripts were involved.
  5. I'm flattered but I think you and LadySaint are far more worthy
  6. This

  9. Meh - nothing a ballet dancer can't do!
  10. Worked for Joanna Lumley and the Gurkhas IIRC
  11. I think the campaign to get those flats in London to be now sold to a housing association might have been strengthened by his input and publicity.
  12. He's making people talk about things and think about things. OK he polarises opinion, but he's probably got people talking about politics more than they have done for a long time. If that's all he achieves that's still commendable, whether you agree with him or not.
  13. I can remember 1970 (Boxing Day or soon after) mainly because I was heavily pregnant and had worked very hard to produce a feast for my parents (in the days before freezers). Dad couldn't get the car down Lances Hill because it was blocked by buses and cars. So we were stuck with loads of food we couldn't possibly eat just the 3 of us!
  14. I thought it was a superb piece of drama - best I've seen for a while. I'm really looking forward to the next in the series albeit with different characters / story line. I thought he had found his son, living in Romania / Russia? Did I misunderstand?
  15. So glad that she seems to be 'on the mend' SOG - all good wishes to her and to you x
  16. Done - interesting to see the results so far too
  17. So what are you saying here - if you've got a lot of money you're not allowed to hold Socialist principles? Conversely, if you're poor does that mean you're not allowed to be a Tory?
  18. Just mentioned it on HIGNFY
  19. If QT audiences are fixed, that would explain why this bloke was so prominent http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-30448645
  20. Interesting article on the BBC website about the history of women's football, its beginnings, decline and resurgence. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-30329606
  21. I never cook these days as Mr TF finds cooking to be a good way of winding down after a day's work. I used to be very good but decades of providing routine meals for a family of 5 took their toll. I do still make awesome cakes and puds though.
  22. Poopey not actually mentioned, but the writing's on the wall, surely? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2867809/Struggling-Tesco-shelves-plans-100-superstores-bosses-issue-profit-warning.html
  23. Don't your nurseries provide food then?
