Splendid! Can you not understand that our forebears WENT TO OTHER COUNTRIES to look for a better standard of living (by exploitation as it so happened). Exactly what most immigrants are doing by coming here! Who's the hypocrite now?
-
You asked him the question! And then you have a pop because he answered? Jeez!

Just downloaded that Facebook Purity link posted above and it works! Worth a try?

Aah - are you talking about the panel on the right hand side of the page? If so, I've just tested my side panel and in the top right hand corner of each advert there's a x that, if you click on it, gives you the option to never see that ad again. Don't have the problem on my iPhone though. Think I'll try the link suggested above though because I hate FaceBook thinking for me!

House extension...footings required.
bridge too far replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Lounge
Well if you say you haven't changed anything and then something goes wrong when your future buyers are in situ I guess they can sue you for non-disclosure. I already had gas and electricity in my kitchen - all the installer did was to move the location of the oven and replace a gas hob and install a kick-plate heater. But still I had to have the Gas and Electricity certificates. My daughter is group compliance manager for a nationwide estate agent and she says solicitors are very hot these days on having proof of everything! -

If ever you come to sell your house, you'll have to show paperwork / permissions for absolutely everything these days. When we sold our old house 2 years ago, we had to have all the certification relating to a simple replacement kitchen (gas cert. elec. cert). It's because these days you have to declare everything to your potential buyer's solicitor. -
UKIP are even worse than the Liberals for saying one thing and then saying the complete opposite: http://anotherangryvoice.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/what-is-ukip-stance-on-tax-dodging.html

Birmingham parent company into administration
bridge too far replied to Winchester Red's topic in The Saints
They've gone into receivership rather than administration. Not sure what the difference is TBH -
Because it keeps a large number of young people off the unemployment statistics for 3 years? How's that for a starter?
-
Yeah you're right. Let's all adopt an I'm Alright Jack attitude and blinker ourselves to the immorality of the situation eh? After all, we wouldn't want to have to pay a few pence more to watch a match, now would we - unless of course it was to pay another few £K a week to a few blokes kicking a ball around?
-
That's not fair - they've got 2 goals to (try to) score in! Cheats!

I'm sure many people deserve more than the minimum wage and many more earning above the minimum wage should earn more still, but this is about paying the Living Wage. If people no longer have rely on state benefits when they're in paid employment, it means the taxpayer no longer subsidises the wage bill of employers who could well afford to pay more. It's a moral issue too IMO.

But, in the main, we're talking about stewards, cleaners, bar staff - and yes, I know, that many of these will be employed via agencies. But the club can still dictate the wages that should be paid
-
So you're saying St Mary's will relocate to India? :D
-
Absolutely right. They will probably be getting in work benefits anyway, to supplement their paltry wages. AND THAT'S THE WHOLE ISSUE! Tax payers contribute to in work benefits for those on very low wages. So, in reality, tax payers SUBSIDISE the wage bill of wealthy football clubs that prefer, on the whole, to pay obscene wages to their players and senior staff.
-
Has it occurred to you that some of the staff have been employed by the club via the DWP and don't have the 'luxury' of turning down a job offer, even if it is on crap wages. They'll get sanctioned if they refuse.

One of the big petition organisations is on board with this now for all the Premier League clubs (Change.org I think)

This puts an interesting 'gloss' on the whole subject. Looks like we're all paying for these student debts anyway http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/higher/tuition-fees-three-quarters-of-students-wont-be-able-to-pay-off-their-debt-9866446.html
