There was an interview a while back with Steve Williams talking about the great Saints sides he played in. These were sides which were always competitive and couldn’t give a shit about who they were playing, you score three we’ll score four. It was based on attacking football, team spirit, work ethic and the blended ability of the players - greater than the sum of the parts. We used to infuriate opposition managers not get patronised by them, Paisley, Clough, Robson respected the club on merit but hated playing us, neutrals rooted for us. Every good saints side I’ve watched in almost forty five years of going to games has had that about them, that’s the thing that sets our club apart from the other provincial clubs. When the club clicks, when it is together it’s a great feeling and a match for anyone. The current moribund mess is about as far away from that as you can get. Despite a snapshot in the play off semi and final, I’ve reached the conclusion that this manager, board and some of the players don’t have a fucking clue about our club!

If this doesn’t do the trick I don’t know what will!!!

LD nailed it, at the stage now where the ego is undermining his greatest achievement as a manager to justify the current debacle. Remarkable and untenable.
-
Fucking abysmal. What a pillock!

Think there are a few keen on that too. Perhaps the same ones…
-
I think that’s why sport republic avoid ‘names’. Ankersen scared of anyone who clearly has more football expertise than him and has little to prove. Only room for one ego. Fragile persona.
-
Benitez seems unrealistic in terms of this idiot Board, but I think he’d consider coming to Southampton if we approached. We would likely offer considerably more lolly than Celta Vigo and he wants to come back to English football. Good recent article about his character here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/mar/01/its-an-addiction-rafa-benitez-on-celta-vigo-family-and-clamour-for-xabi-alonso

I think it’s likely there are a few posters who have the same teasy weasy ritual before posting on here!

Lots of pissed off and angry people in the crowd around me at final whistle last home game and half empty stands with 30 minutes to go. As placid and reasonable as saints fans are I think times up for Martin. SR are negligent in allowing resentment to simmer, but that epitomises the owners we have.
-
Assuming Martin is in place for Spurs there is likely to be a reaction from the crowd, particularly given the stupidity of his spiky post Villa comments! Looks like SR are happy to humiliate Martin and take the piss out of the club's fanbase to see who blinks first.

It really is madness.

When you think that we were in the top half of the table, established in the Premier League for over a decade when these jokers came in, their abject failure is truly spectacular. We are a bin fire instigated in the main by three people, two ideas men who have no fucking idea, and a money man who appears to be happy to lose money. What an avoidable mess!
-
But he clearly does. The bearded floater is still here currently, with no sign of a firm Serbian flush. Wonder if the board are trying to sell up.
-
I thought that was Sir Sadiq Khan for a moment. You wouldn’t put it past Spunk Republic, would you.
-
To be fair it's highly likely the head of dry cleaning has already fed back as line-manager.
-
I think that's what got him into trouble last time...

Rusty and Lucy jumping out of a big cake at Staplewood?

It’s Sport Republique, 19:23 or 23:54

His name crudely translates to Crow Brushwood-Scrub, so good fuckety luck to the red wall with that!
-
Maybe, not heard of him before today, but clearly doing something right. PL is a really funny league in terms of quality and consistency, so obviously much harder to compare than Pochettino at Espanyol per se, who most doubted at that time.
-
I watch quite a bit of the LP and Santa Clara (minnows) are doing very well at the moment but the standard in general is very poor, rather like the Scottish Prem in terms of quality spread. Would be very left field, perhaps too left field even for SR, but who knows.
-
Good to hear, been really worried about how they were getting on.

Lot of us discussing Cooper, but odds on it will be Dick Spangle from the Championship, or the Goztepe kit man. Cooper would be a great relief, as despite the boat race appears quite normal.
