  1. Though it seems like he has been around for a long time, Vokes is 21, same age as Beattie when he joined us from Blackburn (without a senior goal to his name). At 6 '2 and 14st he could be an excellent second target man behind RL in the pecking order. Worth a punt for sure, for a local lad, being north of Watford is bound to put you off your stroke!...
  2. Le Tissier. No brainer...
  3. This. To speak about this signing in the same breath as KK is pure folly. In that era I remember us signing Dave Watson from Werder Bremen (as a Tyro defender my hero at the time) and Saints fans didn't bat an eyelid, the current England centre half and an absolute rock of an international player - it was the most 'normal' thing in the world! Someone mentioned Prutton previously and that is where this signing fits - a young quality addition with bags of potential. I for one think it will come off for Cork at Saints as he's been playing without any stability on loan for years and still doing well (and that shows commitment and character). If Adkins and Cortese set up a press conference at the De Vere in the coming weeks and Messi steps out form behind the curtain I might go deja vu, and come over all unnecessary...
  4. We owe the man an awful lot. When you think that it's only two years it puts the 'five year plan' into perspective somewhat. WIFM...
  5. As long as we get paid in full, this could be a perfect move on a number of levels...
  6. This put me right off: http://www.youtube.com/user/owenhargreavescb#p/u/4/uH3m3hkr2dA
  7. Agreed. Considering his waist measurement I think he may be our long anticipated marquee signing...
  8. I have it on good authority it is in fact David Mellor, we are looking at...
  9. Going forward there could be something in this. Rather like the Boys From Brazil, albeit the Boys from Staplewood. Nige in the Gregory Peck role...
  10. Idi Amin was also very dapper...
  11. Matthew Wright...
  12. The best photo's last season were Adkins lying on the rug when he joined (playful but pensive), and the one with the tiger in a headlock before the Brighton away game (rampant and steadfast) - pure genius on the part of Cortese! If a picture paints a thousand words...
  13. Just the sort of player we need to be signing. Praying the 'SFC / Adkins pull' is enough...
  14. A badly needed touch of class. Far too many not taking this seriously...
  15. I agree B5, Yakety Sax is the real McCoy. There is a strong Southampton connection and also a true essence of the Adkins. Instead of the IAK rig I would have 50 mascots in foam rubber Ian Brennan designed Ted Bates costumes - most unnerving. It would also put the opposition on the back foot if the theme was played sporadically during the game, thus:
  16. Until I see that Rivas has signed on the official site I won't believe it. He makes Ronaldo look like Vince Cable...
  17. This. I think that it's highly likely that we will see exits first, and even if AOC were to stay fees for Puncheon and perhaps the likes of Mills / Seaborne could considerably raise the kitty. Another point is that on the basis of Cortese's recent dealings it is unlikely that we will get to know any fees we pay (inflated or otherwise), even if we were to sign the likes of Maynard...
  18. This time with quote! A winner. Comment by LM after a game versus WBA when he had scored an absolute screamer cutting in from the right wing. I was in the Milton, happy days...

  20. Which Saints player was described by his manager in a post match interview in the following terms: 'Our (right/left) winger has been a real handful for the opposition over the last three games and today's goal was superb. The only problem is he is supposed to be our (left/right) back' Conscious of my 'three strikes and you're out chaps', hence no question last night. Good luck, fairly easy one...
  21. Apparently the tag-line for selling advertising space at the Amex stadium is 'slightly smaller than Barnsley, slightly bigger than MK Dons, the future's bright with 12,000 spare padded seats in the new year'...
  22. Disloyal little scouse t*sser! Obviously happy to sit on the bench rather than compete with Forte...
