Ramirez is hell of a player and is on a different planet to his team mates at the moment (three times on Saturday he threaded a needle with a pass and nobody was running on), once his fitness catches up and the rest of the side catches on he is going to be a potential trump card for us every game. Just a shame that the failure to sign the necessary defenders means that we can't fully relax and enjoy the talent at the moment...

I usually spend the whole of half time in a tense line waiting to get served before having to give up when I'm about eight from the counter or forfeit the start of the second half - the staff resemble young conscripts under fire in Saigon. I have tasted the fare only once, and it was nasty, which is wholly expected but could be addressed - it takes real negligent talent to f*ck up meat pies and beef burgers. It seems to be the margin of error, which is much tighter than it was when we were previously in the Prem. I think we have too many players who have not played in a top League (England, Italy, Spain) before and that is what is telling. We played bloody well yesterday and I said to my mate five minutes before their goal if we get caught it will be a slip and a sucker punch, and so it was. The players are obviously learning quickly and Ramirez was a role model and focus for the team yesterday, but what I'd give for some experienced nous at centre half and centre midfield...

This is how I see it, perhaps the biggest disaster would be to remove Adkins and be forced into having to take Hobson's choice ( the likes of Saggy), haggle or wait. It may well be that Cortese's famous connections and negotiation skills are in full swing at the moment, hence Nigel's strained cryptic comment last night...
