We are at the ‘blaming the players’ point in the panto. The audience’s fault next.
-
Problem is that he's in an unusual hierarchy where all he has to do is to fool three people and the sycophants that surround them most of the time, particularly Solak who essentially owns the means of production - bank and executioner here. The PR fluffers on this site give an indication of the thinking of those keeping Martin in role despite what is obvious to the majority. If you look back over recent posts, having blamed the need for the side to be able to 'find it's feet' they are currently blaming the players for not being 'good enough' despite us appearing to have the foundation of a very competitive young side. This will likely move over the next few games to blaming the 'idiot fans' for getting on the players backs, despite having previously stated that they weren't good enough. It's essentially Mad Nate II deja vu. When the board finally get around to removing the actual cause, we will have forfeited our top flight status and lost the foundation of a promising team, they'll say sorry and that they won't make the same mistake again, and off we go...

Agree totally. Fucking crackers!

The only time I can see this Board getting their collective heads out of their arses is when matchdays become fully toxic a la mad Nate, a situation that provides a fucking awful experience for the long-suffering fanbase. Could feel the simmering yesterday but mitigated somewhat as 'it was Liverpool.' Eventually Sport Republic will act, but reluctantly after blaming the long-suffering fanbase, just like they did with Jones. Managing to cut their nose off to spite their face, incapable of learning from mistakes. We then lose our Premier league status with a whimper followed by some really exciting young players out the door. Clown show.

I think that in Ramsdale, KWP, THB, Fernandes and Dibling we have some genuine quality and potential, half a good side, players for Saints fans to get excited about for the first time in a while. Thus, it is particularly gutting that we are so inept in terms of the coaching staff and directors. I am not so sure we bounce back up if we go down next May, Venkys could well be the template.
-
I think we need to sack Lego, employ Cooper and market the second half of the season as ‘Beauty and the Beast - due to public demand the Director’s Cut at last’. Right now I’d take the ghost of Tommy fucking Cooper!
-
There was a swivel eyed chump today at half two selling half and half scarves under the Ted Bates statue. He’ll be along in a minute to tell us the players are shit and that Slot and Virgil said that Russ is a dreamboat. Fluffers gonna fluff!
-
It’s also the same plot every time you pay to watch it! 😀
-
You put a side out to press and counter today, without the players you ‘love’ but aren’t up to it, I reckon it was three points.
-
Wish I didn’t have to post it mate. Fucking dire.
-
As we were walking away from the ground today my brother made exactly this point. We’ve been here before and if we had seven to ten points on the board currently it would have been one of the ‘unlucky, we gave them a scare’ days. But this is meaningless if you can’t get results against the sides in the lower half. Back to Strachan’s definition of propaganda football. The way Martin and co act you’d think saints fans had never seen their sides take points off the big six at home. Some of us have, many times.

Refused to be re-chipped.
-
Spot on. Downes and Fraser both turned to face the keeper every time they picked up the ball in our half today. Fucking obvious and fucking painful.
-
To be fair they’re not, this is a good deal worse.
-
Wonder when old Slot machine will come out with the plaudits and bullshite - well done Russell and plucky little Saints, whilst instructing his scouts to get Dibling and Fernandes for a knock down relegation price. Fucking can’t abide Liverpool.
-
Just got back and share this view, and feeling sorry for the players who looked committed and knackered. They deserve to be set up / instructed better without the costly shoe-ins. Stephens particularly awful today. McCarthy kept us in it first half so there was always going to be Ying and Yang with him, but it was pissing around in our third and lack of willingsness to attack and run to line which killed us off. It was ever thus under Russ. Would love to see Dibling and Fernandes under a decent manager but assume that’s next year and not with saints.

I suppose that you can only go on personal experience when evaluating a public straw poll. I haven't missed a home game under Martin, last season and this. I attend with my kids and extended family / friends and talk to those around me, a mixed bag sociologically. Also get to observe, absorb and hear what many around me think - it's a football match. On that basis I think a majority can see that Martin is out of his depth and drowning and that the Board are too inept to take affirmative action. Fans are currently more exasperated than compliant or indeed empathetic. I reckon the recent polls on here are about right. Now, I could be sitting amongst the SFC version of the Baader Meinhoff Gang, but doubt it. Personally, I don't think we are too far off seeing majority opinion at the next few home games in the same way it was expressed towards Nathan Jones - apathy to anger. All of this is on the Board, all of it is avoidable - that's the frustration.
-
Think that the only people who want to stick with it are Russell Martin and Lucy, the Sport Republic brains trust, and the half dozen fluffers they've planted on here.
-
Well he's no Nathan Jones, that's for sure!

Rasmus Ankersen's de Goldmine Effekt podcast I believe?

Sunday afternoon - you've been slotted!...
-
Assuming you are a rival Premier League manager, coach, or kit man, it's a heart Sheaf old chap!
-
We are indeed a joy to watch, from the opposition technical area.

Koeman was a superstar and bona fide legend for Barca and Holland in teams full of superstars. A playing hero of mine so was biased when he managed us, but enjoyed his time at the same level as McMenemy - we are just little Southampton, well so fucking what!
