SAINTS 1-1 West Ham // Post-Match Reaction
colehillsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
For me Ramirez just tires dreadfully after 60 to 70 mins. In the first half he looked pretty assured, bar a couple of passes on the break, that didn't come off, but he was creating stuff and I think his dead ball deliveries were good. His goal was his last useful contribution. Almost as if he mentally tires, and the euphoria of the goal was the last straw. The dead balls after that we're just ridiculous, but you would think that his concentration over 90 minutes can get better. I enjoy watching him play. Sorry!! Credit to West Ham for some good last ditch defending. They worked hard for there point. -
Power and success make people into odd balls. You believe your quirks are what is making the right recipe and you begin to exaggerate them. If you think Adkins is alone in being an odd ball premiership football manager I think your wrong. I bet they're all as mad as a barrell of frogs. Anyway, there aren't normal blokes managing top football clubs.

Was going to say Corfe Castle. Spectacular in its own way. Then on to the Square & Compass in Worth Matravers. Most authentic village pub I know of or can imagine. Remembered by anyone who has been there!

I bloody loved Nigel. I'll admit it. Where some found his press conference style repetitive, I just thought he absolutely meant every word of it. If I was advising Mauricio I'd tell him to start doing interviews in English at the first possible opportunity. I think fans will forgive a bit of dodgy English but need something to empathise with, as soon as possible. The atmosphere was **** yesterday.

A thread about crabs! **** me sideways.

FWIW I couldn't agree more, but I am just tired of reading about it. I want to get behind the team and try to begin to re-assemble the feelings of optimism and excitement I had after the Chelsea result. I can always see both sides of most debates, but I really wish those that believe MP offers a brighter future didn't feel the need to denigrate Nigel to make their point. You and many others feel the need to weigh in and defend Nigel, and I can't blame you, because I agree, but it just seems odd that some of those wanting unity behind MP can't resist pot shots at Nigel designed to antagonise those that liked him. That is the internet for you. It's sad because before a week ago last Friday, i thought the Saints fan base seemed more together as one than at any time I can remember.

I know the Internet is a crappy horrible place and everything but people feeling the need to demean the acheivements of our last manager is depressing me every time I bother to look on here. Can't we just move on. I'm sure he has.

Agree with all of the above reference Alcudia and Porto Pollensa. Went a few times years ago. Always hired a car or a dirt bike to get around, and enjoyed driving out to the light house at Formentor, down to Porto Cristo to visit the Caves of Drach, or a drive down to Soller on the North coast of the island.

Yes actually. I did think that Neil Atkins did not have a very impressive continental sounding name, which probably didn't allow him to think big enough for a top 4 potential club like us, and MP 's initials are well like an MP, and they rule the country, like we can rule Europe , so he is bound to be more ambitious like us. How do I pledge all my income to the club and where are we going for this years summer camp?

If you don't mind me saying, that is a bit simplistic. What industry do you work in? I think that different sectors have different characteristics. Banking and retail are pretty crude. My brother in law worked as a Tesco manager for years and they just appeared to treat each other like **** ad infinitum. You just need people at the bottom to follow orders, and the dealing at the top is just that, hard nosed negotiation, with little regard for sentiment. It's not complicated. You don't depend on people to think or create so much on your behalf so you just get stuck in and bully people. To take an opposite extreme, I doubt if the top man at NASA just kicks ass all day. OK that is not private sector, but the point is that some sectors, are much more dependant on team building, and nurturing talent, where just being a **** bag doesn't prove so effective. My business is civil engineering, which you would think would be appalling, but my experience is that people often treat each other pretty well. Because work is a series of complex problems to be solved, that are all different on a daily basis, people need to work together in strong teams, with a bit of trust and respect. Obviously there are exceptions, but I have met people that run £200 or £300 million businesses, and they are resilient but often very charming and fair-minded. Some have long since got over the idea that they're just doing it for the money, and are just more interested in people and the journey. My point; Is banking really applicable to running a football club or not?

Has anyone on here spoken to adkins since he was dismissed?

Whoosh. You can argue all day about whether the guy was good enough. You have a view and so do I, but very few would argue that he has no class. Your post about him making a statement is just stupid or designed to wind up those that are gutted that he is gone. Then no doubt you will be calling for unity behind the new manager, which is important, but your point is going to be contaminated by your cheap shot, isn't it? -

Oh right. You feel disrespected. Diddums. I'll settle for the two promotions and let him have a quiet weekend. -

What a daft thing to come out with. What is he supposed to say? "I just want to say I didn't blub when they showed me the door". "I think Cortese is an arse". The best he can do is have some dignity, not **** stir and carefully consider his future. Which is what he is doing and will do. -

Umm, since yesterday afternoon eh. Chances are, by now, gnomes will already be a half decent footie team. HTH -
For sure. I wouldn't know exactly which transfers to attribute to him anyway. His gift so far has probably got more to do with coaching and galvanising a club. As said above it is by no means an easy task, and he would need some luck, as will MP over the next couple of months. I'm sure we can all agree on hoping he gets it.
-
Just like us. Some money, and a shed load of forward momentum. Gutting.

To be fair to CB Fry and a few other posters they have put a lot of effort into that debate over the course of the season and it was really all over in October when it became obvious that we weren't often selling out and the corporate sales were crap. He may take up the challenge but who would blame him if he doesn't bother. Do you think we will sell more tickets for Monday without that mill stone Adkins holding us back?
-
I had Turkish or Kracken down as the first to arrive. Lol.

I often wish I could be arsed to get on here and post something as well thought out as that.

We won't go bust, but it has all been upside for the family so far. Unlike Chelsea etc this is supposedly being run like a business, and if we go down it is going to be expensive to pay out prem salaries and sell star players at reduced figures, because their agents don't want a season for them in the championship. The lack of continuity resulting from Friday is going to make this tangle a whole lot worse, so let us hope we stay up. I think the family will bail if they find their team in the championship, getting frustrated, and paying out a load more than is coming in.

Never really liked dirty Leeds but would have to wish him the best.

It will stay high until the summer. Probably higher if he shows a bit of calm judgement and holds on for a while. -
How long before we all calm down on this forum
colehillsaint replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
Looking at the table tonight I think a win on Monday night would be a massive result, and most would calm down pretty quickly. **** no's if it will happen though.
