  1. Used to drive it very regularly for work. I always found the M3 quick but like people have intimated, once in a blue moon, there would be a big accident shutting the M25 for hours, causing total chaos. For an important trip best to allow a bit more time and take the predictable route via Chichester.
  2. Why don't people understand that it's not an easy trick to bring a team up from the championship and keep them up? You have to recruit to get up, and then somehow magic a load of that squad away to get better quality in to stay up. This needs doing without destroying the spirit of the squad. You have a credibility problem bringing in real quality, not to mention the relative financial constraint of coming off the back of years of lower league income, (yes I know we spent £30m). The new squad needs welding together very quickly. As a young manager you have to get used to a higher level yourself, competing against other managers that have effectively been hand picked from across the globe. If we can stay up it will be the exception, not the rule. It's a real shame that AL has got injured because I think up to that point we were starting to really come good.
  3. The times this season when we have started to properly tick have been when we have had both of them, and JP. I really hope AL comes back to fitness soon. It's hard to see us being able to lure in suitable cover as well. How quickly he comes back and can regain some form is critical for us this season I think. I hope Ramirez stays fit in the mean time.
  4. It was my suggestion Turkish was referring to and I didn't bother defending it because to be honest in the cold light of day it did seem boarder line hilarious to say Chris Marsden was our "best ever signing". The points you make are of course correct, but I would add that Chris Marsden spotted the point when he felt he could no longer contribute, and he just ****ed off. No fuss, or hanging around. I remember Gordon Strachan described him as a strange man when talking particularly about that decision, but to me even now it seems impressive.
  5. I would not really argue with your example. In defence of my point though, West Ham are a bigger club based on the last few years, and Sam must have more pull than our talented but relatively untried young manager.
  6. I will have to live with that.
  7. In fairness to whoever was deciding on our transfers in, is it not more difficult to sell a club coming up into the PL to a proven premier league talent? The club has a better chance signing a talent from outside this league, and taking a risk together. Is that not a fair point?
  8. This for my generation plus Chris Marsden
  9. A football match is 90 minutes. You only need half of one of those minutes to score a pivotal goal and Ramirez is worth a lot of money because he has the vision and skill to create that situation even if many times things don't come off. It's not like a centre back who has to be fault free doing simpler things to look worth a lot of money. We were poor today. With AL out I think we gave the opposition less than half as much to worry about. Ricky looked sluggish and Mayuka looked lost in the first half, so not a fair day to judge Ramirez on. Anyway, £12m is not that much for a premier league player. We can all think of bargains that have come good, but in terms of wastes of money, Gaston would not get near a list for PL football.
  10. I've just noticed that you can't sell food stuff's or light armaments on e bay. I might have a corned beef sandwich while I think about my next move.
  11. She seems like a nice lady. I am assuming, (for comedic value), that it is actually Jillyanne. She looks a bit shocked. Perhaps the stain has not waited for the the big one, and has surprised her already!
  12. Well nothing has happened here yet. In case 11.11 comes and there is still no apocalypse I would like to make a plea before the recriminations start against the OP. Please could everyone try to keep some perspective and remember that this is not the end of the world.
  13. I'll put you down for not sure then.
  14. If the mods are reading this please add canine stain-rape to my poll request.
  15. Cheers. With beginners and kids coming that kind of thing is handy to know.
  16. I am thinking that a poll would have been useful, if we were now not just hours away from slipping off the old mortal coil. Something like; How is it all going to end then muppets; - super volcano leading to worldwide dust cloud - meteor strike - zombie rage virus - killer rat takeover lead by giant mutant rat queen - nuclear accident - global flood event or giant speed of sound travelling tsunami prompted by Canary island mega land slip - Global ice age - Alien Invasion - Incineration by solar flare The uncertainty is making survival planning a bit of a nightmare. I'm sure given the high quality of posts on this thread we could have arrived at a democratically selected answer to the nature of our imminent demise.
  17. Ta. Sounds great. Can't wait really!
  18. Might take the heat off my dog.
  19. Early night with a fire extinguisher then.
  20. I'm going with a big group of friends and also my family to La Rosiere, in a couple of weeks time. I ski a bit, but most of the group are beginners. I've not been there before. Any tips on what to expect?
  21. Spudgun; are we likely to wake up on Friday and draw the curtains to a creator filled wasteland?
  22. Much as I appreciate your survival advice up to now Spugun, I think you're way off beam with this one. I can see it all now; I am carrying Mrs C across a creator filled wasteland, and Stain creeps up on us. I put her down and she is all; " ooh The Stain, I've heard so much about you. You can satisfy a woman using faraway as a prophylactic. Ooh .......". I'm too puffed out to defend myself, and me and the dog are history before you can say muppet show. I don't think so. In fact after 10 days of following this thread, she is going to be carrying me.
  23. Thanks Spudgun. My soft side has got the better of me and I'm off to check out the ladies footwear section of JB Sports for Mrs C. Might go for a darker tone, rather than white, so the ash etc doesn't show too badly on Friday as she flee's for her life.
  24. If only she would wake up to the good sense available on SWF she might improve her survival chances by up to 2 or 3%. Instead of that its endless re-runs of "what happens in Vegas" and "sleepless in Seattle". Friday can't come soon enough for me.
