  1. Jane's husband.
  2. This is all getting a bit morbid, rather like when we finished in the bottom half of the championship ten years running. Can you imagine that ten years. You lot think you've suffered after a couple of bad years, Ten years of putting the table up on teletext and having to wait for the bottom half to come up. So I've worn the T shirt on this one. You need to cheer yourselves up. I can't start threads but one of you should start one: How Rupert will think he's lost his money? I think you'd enjoy that more.
  3. How about DUM Democratic Union of Mineworkers? I always thought the story derived from a couple of your local history books in which strikebreakers were bused to London. I'm sure the references and a picture were posted on this site or it's predecessor. Probably made up skate propaganda unless any local history buff can turn up the references. Glad you guys are now feeling more optomistic and more able to take a pop at us skate ********
  4. Those visitors were only coming to look at that statue you had.
  5. So to sum up apart from when we have been sucessful, you can't remember us being sucessful. I think you're suffering from Bridesmaid syndrome having been runners up too many times. I think Southampton used to be a more attractive city than Portsmouth but whereas Portsmouth have improved with the Tower, Mary rose, Warrior and many more flowers around the place, by contrast your Council seems to have concentrated on traffic lights. I've had regular cause to visit Southampton for the past ten years. Where's your big Titanic Museum-There isn't one unless you count that pidly little thing on the front. You've just stood still and been overtaken- and that applies to the city as much as the football club. Time for your council to wake up,
  6. What do you know. We have a very nice TENT. Eat your heart out.
  7. Well things seem to be changing already. I'm sure it was Rupert's practice to cross the eyes and dot the t's.
  8. Not too zenophobic Curly? Isn't that Andrew Surnam you grew at your academy an African?
  9. It's sounding more and more like one of your ex managers Harry Redknapp is coming back to us. This won't be very popular with some so you may pick up a few malcontents from us. Jamie said his Dad's greatest affection was for Pompey where he was at his happiest. The News understands he has his supporters within the Fratton Park set up Some directors at spurs don't like his forthright style. Should we welcome him back or have you got any suggestions?
  10. Hardly obsessed I'm not a member so I post a maximum of three times a day, this being my last post of the day. My previous two were replied to by the same person-you. So which one of us is obsessed?
  11. Don't know about you Mack but I'm exhausted from trying to keep the spirits of the dead red up. At least now MLT's taken over they're all happy and we can have a break.
  12. Your swine rumour mill is infecting us now. Rumours sweeping our boards from new posters of a big announcement within 36 hours (not Paul Hart). Come on own up it's one of you isn't it. Better not be LifeLong Saint taking us over
  13. What exactly makes you think that the eventual buyer is less likely to get the spelling and grammar right than the 'we' you mention?
  14. No it's not. In view of the difficulty in making actual announcements on any given Friday as anticipated, the remainder of this week will now run: Tuesday(Today), Thursday, Friday, Friday. I'm sure the two Friday week will do the trick. Now try and keep up Northam.
  15. You think you're bad do you? We disbanded our youth team with the wise words from our manager, that there was nothing to be found in the Portsmouth area but fish. So we released on the same day for nothing young Peter Shilton and young Mick Mills. ffffggggarrrrrrrgggghhh. lol at us.
  16. Your first requirement in a manager should be someone that's better than Tony Adams. True it's not much of a filter and may indeed just eliminate one person-but that person is Tony Adams. If ever you think of him-just don't.
  17. So when the League announced the 10 point penalty AND said the administrative rules had become operative what do you think they meant by that? Important to know because they have all the power. Might be an idea to have Stu as chairman he seems to think a policy of getting the FL on your side by cooperating with them is in the best long term interests of the club.
  18. We were one apparently. Messrs Gregory and Venables had a public fallout(I mention this purely as a time reference) . When the club went into administration it was reported in the press that the police were called in. They said that money was missing but that it was impossible to establish who was responsible.
  19. I can't help but wonder if there is something nasty in the books, some unquantifiable liability. At Portsmouth even after DD and takeover Milan complained bitterly several times that the club had cost him more than he had agreed at the time. The fact that SFC (whoever is SFC now) wouldn't let the FL's independent investigator see all the documents coupled with the fact that two pinacle investors were 'afraid' of the clubs finances although they seem to have had the bid money suggests that something lurks there. I still think your best hope is a late comer, i think you have just over a week for one to emerge. I expect Jackson's bid to falter or be reduced. Fry's eyelids should be truly blinking by then and he could be forced to drop the price. i think he has quite a lot of room to do this. If the price drops it could let 'Son of Pinacle in. It's all down to this week.
  20. Good to see you rely on an expert from Pompey Stu. John Beech RIP
  21. Sorry I seem to have answered mid post. damn webbed fingers
  22. I keep thinking today is Friday, but then there is no rumour of a press conference on here and nothing from the ITKs. a) Did I sleep through Friday and miss it b) Am I dreaming-can you get out of my dream c) As Phil Conners said,'Anything different is good'. No rumours of a press conference means one is just about to be called.
  23. I can't see that any of this relates to saints. Mark Fry talks about the importance of time. does anyone know the date by which paperwork for the new season has to be submitted to the Football League? Fry's cut off point must presumably be 7-10 days before that. Answers please. Thanking you in advance.
  24. That's a very good post. The problem for pinacle and other potential investors is almost certainly the football related liabilities, the wages of this squad this season, next season's contractual liabilities particularly to aging defenders who probably got good deals because they came for free or peanuts. Although not of the magnitudeof the previous liabilities (wages excessive for the championship) there is probably an element of wages excessive for League 1. Then there may be sums already owed to other clubs or clauses activated by appearances. There has to be something that relates to future liabilities because Lynam refers to the withdrawn investors as being "afraid". Your best hope is probably A.N.Other coming in at the last minute and arguably that is what the smartest do to get the best deal
  25. Yes o.k but you could argue that that spending was a gamble that almost came off in the play offs. . The really extraordinary bit was that the spending then continued afterwards until the execs were booted out, but that took a heck of a time. It's the spending following the playoffs that really killed you. Why did L,W and C et al just sit and watch?
