Not sure it's going to be received very well on here!!
-
Already booked, out Thurs lunchtime, back Sunday (flying Soton to Amsterdam). Apparently we're in a hostel (I might upgrade!!!!!!!). And believe there is a big festival in the city that weekend. Sounds a good un

I picked up from an old friend of his sometime around Xmas time I think that he was saying Liverpool was a done deal and agents were working behind the scenes. Posted it up here, but can't find it now!!!

I'm hearing game could be Thursday night!
-
Had the inside word that the Feyenoord game is going ahead (public announcement today or Monday). They haven't confirmed whether Friday or Saturday, but it is that weekend. Now, do we fly or minibus/Chunnel it????
-
Anyone got any news on the Feyenoord game??? Trying to sort out a trip for the match and don't want to book things if there is any doubt due to Europa Cup game the following week.
-
Good spot and looking at last years results in the first leg, some seeded teams played at home first (PSV, Brugge, Dinamo Moscow, Elfsborg, Young Boys) whilst others away (Torino, Hull, Lyon). So our trip abroad could be on 30 July or 6 August.
-
We are Frantically trying to sort out a stag weekend, so would also like to know the answer. Original plan was a trip to Rotterdam for the Feyenoorc friendly (24th July??), but a) not sure this friendly will go ahead??? And b) a European tour might be more attractive. PS the lads from Veho are playing at SMS today and are going to ask the powers that be if there has been a change of plan re the Feyenoord game and will let you know if I hear anything.

All opinion, but don't think there is much between Liverpool and Spurs. Both now living in the shadows of their rivals and shadows of their former selves. Spurs new ground looks amazing and I venture will put them on a par with Liverpool in a few years. They both might push the current top four in future seasons when the benefit of ground redevelopments kicks in, but think for a fair few seaeons they will be also rans (mind you, bigger also rans than us).
-
Whilst I agree with your sentiments, and money does appear to be the biggest motivator for most players, I would argue he has already had his winning the lottery moment with his current contract (plus his new one being offered by us). Those deals have already set him up for life, this Liverpool offer just makes it even more luxurious!!!!! As you say it depends on what your main motivation is/was.

Really can't help but think Suarez really carried them that season. A gifted (if not slightly mental) predator whose goals masked some serious deficiencies right across the board. Didn't they have something like the worst defence of the top 7/8 clubs???? But they are much bigger than us in almost every measurement, so it would be a step up for him (not least in terms of £££££s in his pocket), but that doesn't mean we just roll over and suck it up.

Similar thoughts in that £10m+ isn't even worth considering on three fronts. 1) think Clyne will be an important player for us and possibly worth more than £10m on his own (even if it is for one season only). Throw in the message to others that they can't go on the cheap. 2) it's strengthening a direct rival 3) how much for a replacement?? I bet Leeds won't be letting Byram go for less than £8m-£10m. I'd settle for £20m, regardless of the buyer (although might slap on an additional £5m Scouse/Rodgers tariff)

The Long Overdue Pointless 2015/16 (Adidas) Kit Thread
um pahars replied to The9's topic in The Saints
Have to a agree with you (although it may be the OCD in me). When you look at the keeper kit, it's balanced, so no idea why they couldn't put the Adidas opposite the Saints Crest. -
Clyne deal close, couple of options/clauses to agree but apparently everyone wants to do the deal. Toby all up in the air, nothing concrete from AM although we have put feelers out to make the deal work, but they have all the aces (even if it costs them 2m euros). Toby himself is ok on staying, but at same time if someone else comes in then who knows. nothing moving on Morgan, mainly because no one has come in for him. Arsenal are cooling, but Spurs now rumoured to be doing something (Champs League, Morgan???). Watch this space.

Have to support Gemmel on this one. The lads and lasses from Testlands do a fantastic job with some of the most deprived and disadvanted kids in our City. It's an amazing effort considering most of them are under 25 and work their butts off to help others. I've had the privilege of knowing (and teaching) quite a few of them, and it is really inspiring to see them undertake such a fantastic enterprise. Most of them are mad Saints fans who travel home and away (with the odd dirty Leeds fan), so any support we can give them would be brilliant. The Club have been amazing in their support, which has made them even more determined to succeed.

Somewhat depressing, but ultimately spot on. Are we big enough, both in terms of stature and the amount we pay in wages to have a really decent keeper playing second fiddle to Fraser (and then extrapolate that throughout the team)? I doubt the answer is yes, so we will always have a core of decent players (and anyone really, really good is in danger of being poached!!), supplemented by some average ones who can temporarily fill the gaps.

Has anyone mentioned a hike/walk day out in BIg Sur?? Stayed on a great motel on PCH1 in Big Sur (Big Sur River Inn) and then stayed in some Dutch named place (Deetjens) there as well. Great countryside and coastline.
-
We might have been in a Champs League spot if: a) Osvaldo had managed to play at the peak of his game b) Osvaldo had managed to control his temper and petulant tantrums c) Boruc had accepted being second choice to Fraser and not made a fuss d) Gaston managed to replicate the form shown in the Villa game e) this could go on for a long time. so to cut a very long story short, I think the negative baggage all three (may be a tad harsh on Gaston) of them brought along would probably have meant we would not have been in a top 4 challenge, nor 5/6/7 battle.

You don't just slip up with regards what team you support (the real story is not his slip up, memory lapse, but instead the bullship line that he is a football fan in the first instance in order to present himself as down with the electorate - note this isn't exclusive to Tories either). PS didn't we have a Referendum Party member with links to Saints do exactly the same a few years back???
-
Said as much to all my mates at the game last night. RK may well be right in that it popped back in and there is no long term damage, but as you say I would venture any dislocation (I'm in to double figures!!!) requires a number of weeks tucked up. Don't reckon we will see him in a Saints shirt again, which is a real shame.

There is no "rivalry" in the true sense of the term with regards football and I don't see one being created either. There is no history between the two clubs, and the way Bournemouth results are greeted at St Mary's (and at The Dell before that) would even suggest there is a degree of "support"/"affection" for them. Of course there are a few bitter and twisted ones down there who want to manufacture a rivalry (including those shabby dressed middle aged men + Chris Nicholl + Pat Butcher in that photo), but try as they might they won't be able to conjure up a rivalry in the true sense of the term. The games will have some added spice just like the Brighton matches in late 70s/early 80s and perhaps more recently, and being geographically close make the games a bit more interesting (as with Reading in the Championship recently), but there will not be a rivalry in footballing terms.

Have the BBC got this wrong about Europa League qualification?
um pahars replied to niceandfriendly's topic in The Saints
Bit harsh, as being honest the thought of wanting Liverpool to beat Blackburn this week doesn't sit too well with me!!! -
How about £20,000 for insurance!!

Just don't think we have the depth of squad to really challenge the top teams. Not a criticism, merely my opinion and I'm still really proud of the season we have and hope we can hold it together in the run in. The bigger teams have much bigger squads to rotate and keep fresh, whereas we struggled to fill a bench a few weeks back. Injuries, suspensions & international competitions left us threadbare and struggling to compete week in, week out. Some players could have done with a rest (or maybe competition for their place). Obviously think we should have bought someone up top in January, but we didn't and we're probably regretting it now. It's been a great season, obviously piffed off we lost, but I'm still proud of this bunch and particularly the manager.

And for anyone bothered about the concerns and worries, this is a good read: https://beckypants.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/information-sheet-on-filming-in-derby-road-final-23-feb-2015-1.docx
