  1. After two shy7te home performances I finally get my moneys worth!!!!! Really good team showing, with a few outstanding performances (and a couple of not so good ones) in there as well. Norwich were pretty accomodating in that they weren't overly physical, but was really pleased with the way we played for the majority of the game today. Started brightly, but Norwich started to get into the game before Robertson curled in a beauty from outside the box and fairly wide left. Then came the turning point. Two outstanding saves from Davis (although maybe he didn't know much abou the second) ensured Norwich didn't draw level, and then within a couple of minutes Skatenovic pulled down Lallana who although he was going nowhere was just too good for the defender. Skatenovic made things worse by going loopy at the ref who promptly sent him packing. After that it was all Saints with McGoldricj spurning a couple of god chances, Lallana looking awesome and Davis making another god save. Davis - 9 - Outstanding, full of confidence, great saves. A different player to last season. James - 6 - Tried his best, but a definite weak point in the team. Perry - 8 - Solid performance from an experienced pro. A great signing. Lancashire - 7 - Looked much more comfortable than in the QPR game. Mills - 7 - Had a good game and looked comfortabe at left back Surman - 9 - The Surman of old was back after being relesed from the shackles of left back. Poortvliet needs to make sure he doesn't put him back there. At times was running the game. Cork - 7 - Fairly solid, just didn't want the ball as much as Surman. McGoldrick - 6 - Sorry, but don't rate him. Missed two good chances, put himself about a bit, but he's not a wide right player, nor is he a centre forward in my eyes. Robertson - 8 - Looked very good (certainly better than Dire!!!!). Well taken goal and a great debut. Lallana - 9 - Pure class. Always showing for the ball, always ready to give and go. My tip would be just to watch him for five mins whilst the play is going on to see his movement (plus I fear you won't be able to watch him after january!!). Pekhart - 5 - Didn't do much and presume was injured. Wright-Phillips - 4 - Should have subed the sub in my eyes. get s a 4 cos he won a header late on! Paterson - 5 - Not on long enough. A couple of other thoughts were that I really rated Croft for Norwich, pity his team didn't want to help him out (he also showed a nice touch by going round all the Saints players at the end, even though he had been subbed). And as for the referee, well fccuk me where do they get them from. Gave some appalling decisions against both teams.
  2. 1-1, after being one down. Lallana
  3. I too would put forward the names of both Sundance and Scooby. And if being a full member is an issue for Sundance, then I would only be too happy to pay his fee. Since the demise of Tommac, LonglifeCherry and GM (who shouldn't be reading this;)), we are shor of laughs recently.
  4. Couldn't be Scooby, Matt SFC was asking for the views of a supporter!!!!
  5. Reading that thread on the Bournemouth site was really cringeworthy and brought back some very funy memories remembering his rants, fantasising, bullsh7ytting, threatening et al on here. Then I came to that fag packet plan and the coffee went everwhere. Almost as funny as our Barry The Briefcase (when someone out the Pilbury Dough Man's face on there) and the first Ted Bates Statue. PS (Can someone put a few of the Barry photos up again????)
  6. Why the distinction between Wilde and Crouch here? He may have paid slightly more than Wilde, but he also bought less, so actually Crouch's exposure is slightly less than Wildes. Wilde's outlay was just over £2m, whilst Crouch's was just under tha figure. Additionally, and I'm guessing here, I reckon the exposure is far lower for Crouch than Wilde in terms of their net worth. Lowe on the other hand has seen a big paper loss, but his outlay since the reverse takeover is about £350k, so his exposure is alot less.
  7. Players who i don't think got the recognition they deserved. Nick Holmes Graham Baker Malcolm Waldron Dave Armstrong Glen ****erill Kevin Moore Ken Monkou Paul Telfer
  8. Only just noticed this thread. nickh, you really do yourself no favours with posts like this. You'll soon be classed in the same category as Sundance and Scooby if you keep this up (and you're not a patch on GM's style of antagonistic posts!!!).
  9. I heard Daniel Bennent and Fleur Bennent say just the same thing!!!!! Now they're a golden duo alright.
  10. Absolutely, a win is a win. Look at the tabkle abd it's down there as a win. Happy to win by any means whatsoever and hopefully it will give the team some confidence.
  11. If that was the case then why would Jan be apologising for playing Killer and blaming himself for the recurrence of Killer's problems?
  12. I honestly can't see how we can. I understand we have already negotiated a deferment of some of the interest payments (only paying half of the the £2n a year), but I fear the cost base and structure of the Club is such that I just can't see us turning in a profit on normal operations with a £14m income. Wilde said as much on here, and the previous board were very clear about that (including FD David Jones). I fear the only way we can continue trading is by making regular profits from player sales (the alternative of promotion looks like a pipedream).
  13. Wrong guy I'm afraid. I was always aware of our financial limitations and was also fair to Lowe with regards spending on transfer fees. What i did have an issue with was how the money was spent, who by, when, wage sturcture, general transfer policy and a Chairman with too much influence on the transfer targets (but hey ho, they are all seperate arguments), but are not the same as criticising Lowe for not spending. Last summer Hone had full control of the PLC Board in tandom with Dulieu. Those two along with Hoos, Oldknow & Jones made a a majority of in the boardroom of 8 (the others being Trant, Crouch and Wiseman). Hone had all the power and effectively did whatever he wanted with regards the day to day running fo the Club. The Non Execs wielded no power and the shareholders were impotent as long as they continued fifghting each other. For me, that summer was almost as poor as the previous one (supporting Sturrock, only to replace him with Wigley) with Redknapp not wanting to be here and Lowe probably not wanting him here either.
  14. A positive 1-0 away win. John craker again.
  15. Doug, he's not who you think he is.
  16. So are you saying that JP played Killer, and refused to sub him, knowing he would break down and would then be out for a while?? Surely there's an easier way of not playing Killer at the weekend: Jan: "Mikey, we go with the young defence giving us high pressure attack defending for the important vital game, so yu will have to sit out Saturday. You're still in my brain dreams, so get your muscles fit and we can use you for the special match." So now you think we have a manager that grinds his players into the ground as opposed to not selecting them:rolleyes::rolleyes:
  17. As Chapel End Charlie has correctly pointed out, if the Club were to operate under any future guise then they wold have to honour season tickets. They are a ringfenced football debt that would have to be honoured in order to receive the share in the Football League.
  18. Do you think the hate and vitriol made the Chairman and manager fail? Or, Do you think the hate and vitriol was as a result of the Chairman and Manager failing? I'm not saying hate and vitriol is justified (personally I think you can be against both without resorting to hate, life's too short for that), but we have to get away from this perverse idea that the fans are to blame for where we are now. If some people want to feel they are uber fans, then feel free to donate extra monies every time you visit SMS or make a point of regularly buying some merchandise. The simple fact is that football is no longer a sport linked to the community it serves, and our Club is merely a PLC business operating for profit, delivering value to it's shareholders. You can't have it both ways, in that you want to run a business diven by profit, yet retain some romantic notion of blind loyalty. Ultimately you reap what you sow. It is a business, so we should forget any romantic notion that we owe it to the Club to stand by it come what may. Of course some will do that, and fair play to them for that, but many others will come or go depending on how the team performs and how they perceive they are valued. On both of those criteria the Club has failed it's supporters in recent years, so maybe the onus is on the Club to deliver, as opposed to continually knocking the grass roots fans.
  19. I'd actually pay for his subscription, just to be able to giggle at his noddy posts. If the admins are OK with it, the cheque wll soon be in the post;)
  20. I was more worried about what it said about the quality of this bloke. i.e. If Jan was looking to sign him to play in the Dutch Second Division (and we've heard many stories about how poor that league is) then he can't be that good!!!!!!!! At least I hope he was looking to sign him when he was at Helmond, and not when he was manager of a Sunday League team over there!!!!!!!!!
  21. Don't have a problem with Dyer going as I have never rated him. I'm not even convinced we should have wasted a few months wages on him. Not overly enamoured by this new guy. Firstly I'm not sure we need another forward (we have quite a good one in Stern John not getting a start) as other areas are in need of strengthening. Secondly, I think we should be looking for experience, not another youngster. As for quality, I suppose we shouldn't be that concerned if he's not that good, after all he's a swap for Dire (sorry, Dyer), but the fact that Jan was looking at bringing him over to play in the Dutch Second Division probably says enough.
  22. Old Phil the Greek saw active service in the Navy, and I'm not sure Lord Louis Mountbatten would be too happy either as I'm sure he had something to do over in the other theatre of war. But your right this thread is obtuse!!!!!!1
  23. Well you need to go and have a look at not just his words but his deeds as well around that time. He was not shy in splashing the cash for Rasiak (he sanctioned this deal) and he was also not shy in lining up most of the deals that were then ratfied under the new board. It is accepted that the new regime spent a couple of million more than Lowe intended (e.g.turning BWP into a permanent one as opposed to a loan), and maybe they even gave in to bigger wages than Lowe have, but I'm afraid you need to be convinced abot Lowe's plans that summer, because your current viewpoint is way out of touch with the reality of the situation. He did spend big and he was willing to spend further as he knew that that season would be the last real chance of maintaining a competitive advantage and gaining repromotion [sic]. Well you have also forgotten how Lowe sanctioned a few million to be spent that summer, but for some reason neither he nor Redknapp could land those they were after. Well Lowe presided over the biggest contract (for Rasiak), but even allowing for that, both players wages and overall costs were down year on year. Absolutley, and I have never suggested otherwise. The 3rd season down was the time to cut back and make some savings. For some reason (still never fully explained, do you want a hey ho?) Hone decided to carry on as normal, which is something I have always said was a mistake. Hone presided over a one off overspend, brought about as a result of delaying Plan B. I asked it because I just don't think you get it, and your answer actually supports my fear. The overiding reason for us being on the mire is not the one off overspend under Hone (as stupid as it was, and it has added to the problem), but the fact is that this Club cannot operate with an income of circa £14m. Had we cut back before the Hone overspend, then just why would we have been cutting back then? What we are seeing now is Plan B (with a few more cuts due to the Hone overspend), a Plan that would have been implemented anyway. A Plan B that despite the cost cutting will still show us running at a loss and having to sell players to survive.
  24. LOL. He's like MI5 holding various peoples old posts on files. Can we use the Freedom of Information Act to see who has the biggest file??? Maybe in 30 years time they will thrown open to the public!!!!!
  25. So you put up an antagonistic and attention seeking thread, but when the tables are turned on you, you start crying :smt089:smt089 and going off on one. Boo hoo you big girls blouse. PS Thought I was on your ignore list LMFAO.
