That Fellaini fella
-
Without knowing the full facts I presume he's died of asphyxiation after being pinned down, if so, then it's going to be interesting to see what the Police/CPS do next. You can't really blame people for sitting on top of a gun toting, gas masked up raider, but at the same time someone has died here. Common sense says a decision not to prosecute any of the Good Samaritans should be made quickly.

Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
um pahars replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Why, what happened there then? -
If I had a small criticism of either it would be that they don't push on enough. However, they are both still learning their trade, getting used to the team and have time to develop that side of their game. It's also worth remembering they're playing in a struggling team, just above the relegation spots so the priority is probably defence over attack. Both look to have bags of ability, they just need some confidence, support and to have the security of the team being safe.

To put it bluntly he is a petty, control freak who seems extremely paranoid. However, he is a petty, paranoid, control freak who is fairly successful, so that success papers over his many faults. Personally, just wish he could leave his negative side behind and concentrate more on his positives. But that seems impossible at the moment and he probably even thinks that his negative traits are a part of his success story.

Sorry if its a repeat, but heArd last night that Newcastle had put a bid in for Lambert. No idea what our reponse was (if its true of course) but imagine based on last nights performance (that missed header excluded) then the new guy won't want to let him go. Pardew connection, Ba replacement??

Are you asking in a Jamaican accent man????

Knew you were referring to the Winter article before I even opened the thread. The piece resonated with me in that whilst it accepts the factual issues regarding ownership, business and decision making, it also empathises with the position of mere supporters and their unusual position of being more than just customers. For many, football is more than a business, it is the cornerstone of their community and an integral part of the fabric of their life. It surely must be possible to run a Club in an effective and efficient manner, whilst at the same time paying attention to the wider community and a Club's supporters

Thank you. Neer fails to cheer me up. LMFAO

Cortese has indeed been a major part in our success, and it is foolish to say our bouncing back has had nothing to with him. But just like with others, I don't see it as an either or situation. Granted you sometimes have to be a barsteward to get success, but for me the Club is much more than just winning games (although of course winning games will make things much easier!!!).

We haven't got long to wait to find out, 17 games/3 months. If we go down, then it's a failure and the recriminations will begin. If we stay up, Adkins will be a pleasant but distant memory, and the summer will be devoted to what Spaniards, Argentinians & others we're going to bring in.

I really don't think you can judge a manager just by looking at league placings. There are so many unknowns. And as for Spanish football being poor standard, i can remember the first game at SMS when Espanyol embarrassed us in the first 45 mins!!! Jury's out on whether this guy can deliver, there look to be positives and negatives regarding his experience, but I'm happy to give him a chance (doesn't mean I'm happy with the decision to sack NA though!!).

PICTURE: Nigel Adkins' leaving message to Saints squad
um pahars replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Bless him, what a lovely touch. Played a major part in bringing back some pride, dignity, enjoyment and happiness to our Club. What a disappointing day -
I think you agree with me more than you want to admit LOL.

The Red Stripe is flowing, so here goes. As with VFTT, Turkish, Kingsland Red etc, the thing that phisses me off is the sheer hypocrisy spouted by many. We abuse Portsmuff for not questioning how their club was run, but then blindly accept that all is OK with ours and we shouldn't dare to question what's happening. One fan of many years is targeted for daring to criticise aspects of the Club, not undermine it he just made a small criticism, and the response is disproportionate and no one gave a damn about him. In fact many added there own unjustified abuse. As Channon said, the Club doesn't belong to those who care most and I totally accept that, but it doesn't have to be like this does it??? Now if does have to be this way, then perhaps football is no longer the thing I fell I love with. Really disappointed tonight, we seemed to be bringing some passion, togetherness and spirt back to the Club.

Hello!!!!! I saw that Kevin Costner documentary (Everything I Do) and he said he did. But with regards the OP, I disregard idiots at the extremes of all groups, religions, parties, sects etc. Of course they should be monitored etc, but I certainly don't think they are representative.
-
Football and Saints are not the Club I fell in love with in the 70s, but then again everything evolves and changes. So I have to accept that and move with the times. Its been hard at times over the years, but as VFTT says, the last few years have been really positive. Of course, winning a majority of games and relative success makes it all the more enjoyable, but I also think a more stable squad, "heroes" like Lallana, Lambert & co and a manager who won the respect of the crowd also helped. Today is a setback to that passion and pride, but once again probably not enough to stop me from supporting my team.

Boris or Turkish would get my vote on this one. With their inside info and a touch of angst, they'd get the message across.
-
I declined LOL. There's nothing we can do about it though, so no point. Let off a bit of steam on here, but that's about it.
-
Guy feeling is it will end in tears (so hope I'm wrong), so less than a year.

Win some games, keep us up, and the fickle fans will come up with a song for the new Emperor. Adkins will be a distant memory, someone remembered with great fondness, but that is all. We harp on about wanting something more than a Club, we harp on about loyalty, pride and honour, but when push comes to shove if this bloke delivers results, then all will be forgotten.
-
And as with Delgado who signed around the time of the Gray/Strachan changeover, I assume this is not the manager (whichever of the two) signing???? Im obviously old fashioned, but much prefer a set up where the manager signs players he wants, rather than other people's choices.
-
Then the fickle fans will be singing the Cortese song again?
-
A man at the top whose ego appears to know no bounds. Sacking a manager at a key time in the season. Wasting a transfer window. Manager(s) untried in English football. Remind me where we saw all this before????????? Massive gamble by Cortese and harping back to the good ole days, he will be based on results over the next few months. PS how many moaning today have in the past said we need to be careful we don't lose Cortese as he is instrumental in keeping the Liebherrs on board???
-
I posed the question a few months back that just as we had jettisoned/sidelined Hammond, Barnard, Sharp, Butterfield etc, would Cortese do the same and think Adkins was good Lg 1 & Champs manager, he was not Prem quality. Quite a negative response but it's sat with me for a while. Dont agree with decison, think Adkins was doing well in top flight after 2 fantastic seasons and had brought us success and stability.
