Anyone heard Solent? (am I on page 100?)
-
Agreed. I know Andy and he's Saints through and through.

I was at Springhill School, right opposite the Dell, and we all rushed to the gates to get a look at the great man. There's a clip that sometimes shows up on clips shows of the whole school piling around the fence and waving at Keegan etc. Emod Flynn ran out and got a hair off his head!

Seinfeld took 9 seasons. (or was it 8?) -

Now these clips have cheered me up. If you're sick of the marx bros, you're sick of life and it's time to call it a day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5lU52aWTJo&feature=related

I think you may be on the fishing channel by mistake.

They're really different after the first one, which they expanded and changed round quite a bit for tv. The second novel goes off on a different tangent to the second tv series. They're still chillingly entertaining, but a lot 'snappier'. I think I actually prefer the tv version, maybe because Michael Hall makes Dexter seem more 'human'...

I knew we shouldn't have sung that 'oi can't read and oi can't write' song back in the '80s. Lowe must have heard it and had us all down for rustics.

The first series was one of the funniest things I've seen for years. Brilliant and deadpan.

Best article I've read in a long time.

I agree up to a point - I was really disappointed when 'ashes to ashes' started, but I stuck with it and found it really enjoyable in a different way. It does try too hard, for sure, but it's much more playful than 'Life on Mars'. Still think that 'Life on Mars' was better, but then I think that it was better than anything else the bbc has done for ages.

Barfy, thanks for the spectrum site! That's awesome. I've just relived my orbiter summer and realised how I got so good. It's about 50 times slower than defender. now I can finally play all the 48k games that were beyond my reach in 1982....

Get So-crates, the Brazilian dude, too

Whatever happened to the Duke? He rocked...

My happiest gaming memories are playing 'Orbiter' (a 'Defender' clone) on the ZX Spectrum (16k). Ah, the summer of '82... Best game that wasn't an arcade clone? 'Duke Nukem 3D'

Enjoyed that greatly. Still can't decide if Geoff Travis was/is an amazing talent-spotter with a golden ear or a complete chancer who stitched up all his colleagues....Some fantastic footage though. I'd forgotten how jaw-droppingly good Robert Wyatt's 'Shipbuilding' performance was.

Sorry to 'hijack' this thread slightly, but I had a good conversation with a QPR fan on the way out today. He was telling me that he and his daughters weren't allowed in to one of the city centre pubs because he was wearing his 'colours', but the pub was full of geezers in man u and liverpool shirts who'd been in there to watch the lunchtime match on tv. What hope is there, we were saying, for real football fans, when everything, including the pubs, are only set up for plastics and armchair fans... just a thought. -
If we lose this, we should be tarred and feathered.

Really enjoying the new series. I think the 'time-travelling island' idea is excellent - lets the writers fill in all sorts of gaps (and, obviously, because it's lost) pose loads more questions.
