  1. all i can say is that there is no way SCW would have been a 'failed experiment' if the fans and others hadn't rigorously opposed further involvement in the 1st team that he was meant for during/post Redknapp. the 'resources' piled into SCW's appoinment would have been no greater than the purchase of an average right back - doubt that would have significantly improved the team that finished 12th or whatever it was (the team is greater than 11 individuals, as Mourinho says). --btw don't think i was a lowe-luvvie cos apart from SCW, virtually everything else he did i will never forgive him for
  2. also a strong mention of saints in the february 2003 edition on that site about tottenham's 'submission' at st. mary's in the cup 3rd round.
  3. All i can say to many on this forum is look at the differing responses between this and when one of the world's best sports psychologists (SCW) was at this club, and even back in march when Wotte was talking about it. The response on here was almost 100% negative, and yet here we are. I will even use a psychological, yet simple, term to explain it - attitude towards an indivual/individuals - SCW/MW = negative (wotte talked about it after we had lost); AP = positive. Got to say the article is good in that it is positive towards AP but, as an article, lacks alot of detail and is padded out. i am actually quite f===ed off that i just wasted 2 minutes of my life reading that!
  4. u can clearly see how he got onto the 'shortlist' drawn up by Cortesse and Oldknow. It shows what the criteria they set out was as well: >experienced (including in the lower leagues) >capable of managing at a higher level as well >reasonably high profile >plays a good attacking style of football (something which southampton fans demand). It would be interesting to see the other names on the list. I will probably sit here drinking and trying to guess the other names for the rest of the evening. I would be very interested to have a comparison of the more successful managers at a particular club and the least successful at that club and see the differences/similarities in style. I believe that, even over a long period of time, most clubs retain the need for a particular style of football that seems to suit them in the long-term despite changes in players, backroom staff, etc. If anyone can be bothered to apply this to Southampton (or any other club) then feel free to let me know but I want to watch big brother in a minute and toilet preparations have to be made.
  5. tbf there is no way in a million years that tony adams would have been placed above strachan in the managerial shortlist. can you imagine the convo between oldknow and cortesse? AO: ive heard a former (but still extremely delusional) drunk is out of work. NC: i still think strachan would be good for the fans. AO: yea but tony adams has done rubish in every managers job he's had. NC: Well all u need to tell me now is that he worked for pompey and i'll be convinced. AO: u'll never guess what! he did too!!! NC: blow me, the fans will love it! do u think we should get our season tickets in the northam? Therefore he cant have 'refused' the job beforehand. If adams thinks he's too good for this job then he needs to be sectioned under the mental health act.
  6. Redknapp hasn't turned up for Spurs' pre-season match vs. exeter. Very unexpected apparently. Stopped off at SMS?? i wouldn't no whether to laugh or cry tbh
  7. i can play the piano...
  8. just what we need in league 1. fat and ugly. stern john will love it. seriously, this is awful. bets on lowest uptakes on an away kit since the purple aston villa 1 about 10 years back?
  9. Debt free - soz bout my terrible info b4. i ran out of posts at the time to correct myself. i was told on a stadium tour a few years back that they would one day - when we're "rich" - would buy up all the land round st.mary's and build on it etc, but that could have just been 1 guy getting carried away for all i know. i dont no where i got the 38,000 thing from but it was my impression only the itchen could be expanded cos that was there the most room was (that we owned). maybe the stadium wouldn't have to be expanded outwards much on the northam/kingsland/chappel sides and just upwards (installing stairs in the concorse or something)?? all ages away yet tho so i'll go back to sleep.
  10. i thought that was lietchenstein :s
  11. lol it sounded good at 2am today in my local.
  12. All Southampton, *clap clap clap clap* All Southampton FC, We're by far the richest team, League 1 has ever seen, And it's all Southampton... (you know the rest)
  13. Steve Coppell would be such an ideal choice to work with Paul Tisdale IMO. Coppell is an introvert who would NEVER interfere in areas the manager/head coach didn't want to welcome him into. I think he would probably come to. He's also a decent name to attract higher profile players. Paul Tisdale knows the lower divisions and is highly motivated to achieve at any club, let alone Southampton Football Club. We really could go along way with those two. Although i would love Strachan to return, i'm not sure how much he knows about the lower divisions. These two would be the perfect choice for me right now. Better than Strachan, better than keegan. It makes sense in every aspect you look at it.
  14. Please no. In all the bad decisions Lowe made over the years re managers DO NOT start this era as if it were the last. You may have sold 1500 season tickets today but you won't sell 1 more if Tony Adams is appointed. I plan(ed) to make long journeys every other week to see Southampton but certainly would not if he had anything to do with this club. A spineless, un-motivated, delusional man with zero self-control and zero respect. May have been a good defender but that doesn't make him a good coach let alone a manager. Look at maradona, gazza, merson and adams - there's a link there - and you wouldn't appoint any of them as managers. 1 is looking totally out of place, 1 is an unsucessful non-league manager, 1 is Paul Merson and 1 had a try and failed badly. Don't ask me how Tony Adams got the skate job in the 1st place - i laughed at the appointment then, i laughed even more when he said he was going to manage celtic and to be honest i would laugh if he said he thought he could manage eastleigh. if he managed saints, the country would be laughing at US - i hope we've turned a corner and you are not as delusioned as that freak is.
  15. can we find out if the chapel stand is going to be open first!!! i really don't get what the OS is saying - or not saying - about ticket prices there
  16. svensson... kind of. btw has MS gone as part of the coaching changes? i presume gorre has gone being dutch and all that. i expect a few of the young guys like gillett were in the academy whilst strachan was here.
  17. errrr... wings/northam. what about the chappel? it seems the corners are open but the chapel stand might be closed???? or am i just reading that wrong? Secondly, what does a 'young adult' mean please?
  18. look him up on google - his (presumably) facebook page says he is an inter milan fan and also a jose mourinho fan. hmmmmmmm... jose mourniho fan our now CEO.......
  19. errrrr... yes - it proves our empire is expanding and this 'corporate bollacks' can help to significantly increase turnover and attract other wealthy clients. At 61, he's not going to be around forever tbf. Although being 'just a football club' is great but we could be so much more - the heartbeat of the community - socially and economically
  20. can't be done. we can expand up to 38,000 and they need 40,000 min. would be terrific but afraid it can't happen. I'm more excited about the prospect of developing the area around St. Mary's such as buying up the gas towery things and maybe sticking a hotel or 2 on there like at chelsea and reading.
  21. A swiss randy lerner. errrr... yes please! martin o'neill we're coming to get u!!!!!!!
  22. very good point. time for bed.
  23. I don't see any proper reason why this can't be completed tomorrow either. everything seems to have been cleared up and its just down to the FL formality now - but this is Saints so expect a decision around this time next year...
  24. i dont get how the club was close to folding last week and now may be able to be kept open beyond this week :s
  25. nope still being held up in a container in the docks cos we haven't paid for it yet.
