  1. he certainly has the determination to succeed so we will see if he has the ability to coach now - hopefully he will get his opportunity to manage at a decent level sometime soon just to test him out really. Is the Halstad manager likely to be around for long? Would have thought that his best opportunity to manage would come when their manager goes and he has the opportunity to take the step up. If he makes it as a manager then i'm sure we'll give him a go in the prem maybe 5/6 years from now. Best of luck MS. Southampton legend and i hope we haven't seen the last of you on the southcoast.
  2. He's always onside he's always onside papa waigo he's always onside !!!
  3. surely it was saints vs crewe in 05 (maybe 06). i was sat right next to the meshing and there were 4 tops. 'did u come in a taxi?' was the only chant that day. i also counted 20 stewards in their section. great prioritising of expenditure by rupert as always
  4. youtube video of it any1?
  5. is it just me or have the OS still not corrected the video of the PC they put up earlier?
  6. also, note page 6 - the europa league football... interesting.
  7. WOW!!! i'm more impressed with this long-term investment of a premiership facility than the potential of 3 world cup games. Our greatest home victory since relegation in 2005. As if we needed it, this is the proof beyond all else that we are premiership bound soon and our owner wants it bad!
  8. legend! many thanks mate would really appreciate having a look at that. sure a few others would be interested too...
  9. Is it just me that wants to see Jamelia and Markus Liebherr sat next to each other in our directors box?
  10. after all the speculation over our new managerial appointment this summer, it has been confirmed that the kit has indeed been deliver to the wee man.
  11. only 1k less watching saints v wycombe than watched skates v villa tonight! one team in hampshire...
  12. i have a much needed song for him curtousy of a long shower this morning... let's all have a disco let's all have a disco for La-la-na La-la-na my talents are wasted in the itchen
  13. haha i did think is was going to sound a bit suspicious! just always wondered if theres anything above the northam and kingsland concorses like the community and insurance offices are in the chappel and all the exec boxes, changing rooms, board room, etc etc etc are in the itchen.
  14. it also says that portsmouth would have to meet the costs of moving games if they sign up and fail to build a new stadium. does that mean they would pay for the expansion of SMS?!?!?!?!
  15. on a similar, if random, note. has any1 got a plan of sms 'behind the scenes'. i mean like all the offices and things. i no 1 part of the stadium well cos my work was streamed from there, but i never strayed into many of the other areas. just interested really. thanks.
  16. random question - is it really a good idea to appoint a referee from the isle of wight? i seem to remember blackburn or some1 having a few issues with a lancashire ref last year. he was supposedly over-compensating for trying not to look biased towards his local team.
  17. exactly the optimism everyone seems to be spreading at the moment. if you think you've seen the glory days of the saints, I honestly don't think you've seen anything yet! whether we win or lose the next few games, the saints are coming!!
  18. been a saints fan all of my life but never seen that game. have just ordered it from amazon so thanks for the nudge in the right direction. am sure that i will have it on a loop for the next month or so!
  19. was only for 1 week
  20. just back from the game. kayne put in an awesome cross after beating their right back for our goal. we just edged the 1st half but lacked width in midfield. pardew came down to the bench for the 2nd half and was really tutoring antonio a lot and pulling him wide. ollie lancashire got caught the wrong side of the defender a couple of times, i looked across at pards and he had his head in his hands both times! somehow they didnt manage to score off the 1st (1v1 with bart). thought lee homes did v well at left back - didnt go on the overlap so much but looked comfortable on the ball and recovered well despite losing the ball once. had to leave with about 20 mins left so missed their equaliser. not the most eventful games you'll see. and also freezing in the shade! i watched the same fixture last year that we dominated and won (4-1 i think) with wotte as reserve manager - nice to see so many things have changed for the better in that time, even if stewart henderson hasn't quite got the nouse to bring the ressies up to where wotte had them. a similar ability in squads too i may add.
  21. Boom boom boom let me hear you say trottman!!!
  22. not on solent unfortunately nm. WOOT!!!
  23. o god ^^ do the names theo walcott, gareth bale, chris baird, drew surman etc etc etc etc etc (just recently) mean nothing to you?!?!?! it might not be one of the best in the world anymore and capable of producing that sort of standard of player, but that's understandable when u consider a) that we're now in league 1 and b) that pompey, chelsea, even man utd and arsenal are starting to move into our territory and poach players from our catchment area before we even know they exist. our scouting network just isn't, or hasn't been big enough, for too long now and we're starting to feel the side effects of that now we've been out of the prem for 4+ years. 1 attribute of crossing the ball does not define our academy by any stretch of the imagination. our academy can only work with what it's got. and yes, obviously the standard of coaching will have declined since our prem days - be in from george prost's retirment to other coaches wanting to work for a prem team again with job security that they didn't have until 2 months ago. if u take a current playing crop of our former academy and pit them against other players from their original clubs u will probs have a midtable premiership team imo, which is exactly what we are.
  24. look at the tapes and the stats of him for england and u will find he performs signifcantly better in some matches than others. inconsistency should decrease with age, as will pace unfortunately, especialy in some1 so slight - i hope i have that right - maybe 1 of the many phisiologists on this site can help me?! if not i appologise. problem is at arsenal that much of the time he was training with the reserves despite reports to the contrary i have been told in the past. he wasn't really out of the limelight at the world cup and after that he was playing reserve game after reserve game instead of playing in the 2nd tier of english football. think what saints would have done with him in our play-off season... there's 60 million reason why the 12 million reasons were inadequate altho there was nothing we could do about that cos of the dismal contractual rules currently in place for young players. he has peeked early in his career imo. he would have achieved just as much leaving in '08. in '06 he achieved a world cup status despite being picked without SGE having seen him play once and arsene wenger was ridiculed by the press when he publically advised sven to call him up. what did he do between then and '08 apart from getting injured and playing reserve games and maybe the odd appearance for the 1st team? final post
  25. hang on. try thinking about what i'm saying rather than making up stuff that i didn't say. TDD - i did NOT say we should have been able to keep him, etc - i said that being so negative and resigned to a certain situation a year BEFORE we got relegated from the prem wasn't exactly a gr8 attitude. I take what ur saying about being a regular for arsenal now but i did also say he should have moved in 2008 - between 06 and 08 i wouldn't have called him a regular. would u? Also, he is NOT a regular for England. He is picked very wisely by a fantastic manager in the games that suit him the best - also as i said in my 1st post. ur opinion of the future is fine and i respect that even if i disagree with it. there are many areas of his game he needs to work on and i will tell u that as a fact being a decent level coach myself. CBF: i am not at all bitter and wish him the best of luck - i am merely assessing his attributes and his environment at saints. and i think u'll find i wasn't expecting him to stay at saints because it is very easy to get carried away in the moment. it's just my opinion his career would have been beneficial for it.
