  1. Not Zola FFS! tactical nous of an eskimo in the sahara.
  2. Markus, You saved my club and, in doing so, you saved me. I have been in tears for hours because I know that I will never forget what you did for Southampton Football Club. You will be forever in my heart. My deepest sympathies go out to your family. You'll never walk alone. Pete
  3. i will be graced with his presence on friday: http://www.grassrootsfootball.co.uk/page.cfm/Action=Seminars/SectorID=1 any questions u want answered?!
  4. ah right, i hope u converted as many as u could! i was up at the tom vernon academy for a short while. run by fulham even though he's a scout for man utd. they're getting a few boys into academies atm (mainly at fulham).
  5. small world! which academy were u at?
  6. pompey going to america is possibly the funniest thing ever! i knew that none of their chairmen/owners had 2 brain cells but an administrator?! i have a feeling they'll be adding british airways to their list of creditors in the next few days...
  7. jeeeeeeeeeez! have u seen how rich people are in Fulham?! surely they could stomp up a bit more than that! and their ground is about the size of the dell cafe so shouldn't have many problems with demand u would have thought. would be nice if our prices went to something like that though. we would get some terrific crowds in next season to watch 23 virtually guaranteed wins for the price of 285 boxes of jaffa cakes.
  8. I certainly don't want Pardew to go but the worst thing we can do as fans is to overly-criticise NC is it does happen. Pardew obviously promised promotion this season in January and in effect may have cost the club a few million as a result. Looking to next season I'm sure it'll be a daft decision but NC would live and learn. We won't be lingering down here for too long even if I was in charge. On the other hand, if we start giving bull sh!t to NC then it would only certainly start testing his patience and the last thing we as fans should be doing is disrespecting a man without whom we may not have a club. If AP does go, just look at it a bit objectively and hopefully reaslise that it isn't the end of the world and maybe just a learning curve for Cortesse.
  9. ah, fair enough. could only make out that brighton only had him for the short-term on their forum so assumed it was a loan. i'll go back to sleep.
  10. seems like he is still officially an alaves player which may mean that we've simply out-bid brighton at this stage. i'm not sure that brighton could know any more than that for sure as it would be private negotiations between saints and alaves which would have to be finalised. does look likely tho. played a few games for them in la liga before being more regular in their 'b' team recently.
  11. 5 changes, lambert on bench...
  12. I know there is a lot of very good talent coming into the young academy teams at the moment. hopefully the new investment will help in their development. i don't hold out much hope for many of our players in the latter years of the academy though. probs going to be a good 9 years before the 'conveyer belt' really swings into action. until then we'll rely on the odd oxlade-chamberlain every 3 years or so.
  13. could be anything. martin cranie installments still owed maybe.
  14. he's practically the only guy in the club who actually knows all the different parts inside out - from the insurance office to the community office to the first team. changing that would cause an incredible amount of disruption IMO. a new guy, however good, would take years to get to grips with the entire business.
  15. i feel like we actually lost tonight 2 points would have been easy. we were all but promoted in the 89th minute. 5 points is difficult. we're about 10x more likely to be in league 1 next year now. eugh.
  16. puncheon was a 5 at best. was the worst player on the pitch by a country mile i'm afraid. no wonder he hit that poor kid in the chappel in the warm-up - that was the closest he came to scoring all day. nevertheless, i cant fault seabourne for his work rate and the fact he kept a clean sheet despite being beaten aerially sometimes. semi's positioning going forward was dodgy at times and could have left us needlessly exposed, but he still managed a couple of decent crosses from deep. 6.7 for both IMO.
  17. Saints in the Community
  18. ah! FFS!!
  19. that's bizarre! no wonder he left skates tho - i wasnt the only 1 who saw him clench his fist in the corporate box when saints equalised against pompey!
