cos southampton saints is what we used to call the women's team isn't it? i dont think i could get over that. Could we not just call it Southampton FC again? I'm seriously worried that we might need to get going on a plan asap cos people would lose interest if this was delayed for a season if we miss this coming season's entry. Can someone please explain to me the different circumstances in which we could end up in the Blue Square or completely disappear??

I don't see why every1 on here seems to be over-reacting so much. The situation cannot possibly have changed before DMG's sale. Pinnacle were still sorting out matters with the FL when the deal went through yesterday and I doubt the Swiss' decision (whatever that may be) over buying the club would have influenced the decision to sell. The deals for Kelvin and Surman have been bubbling along for a while i suspect. The fact that we seem to have got a good deal for DMG seems to point towards the directors of SFC sorting out that deal. If Fry was to do it then Forest would have surely thought they could get away with paying £0 next week if SFC folded. As far as I'm concerned the situation today is the same as it was when MLT issued his statement on Saturday. I will be alot less confident if nothing materialises before 5pm however.

my god that was a long post. Sorry i think i may have outstayed my welcome as a 'registered user' and i didnt even get to strachan (who would probably end up spending 10 years or so with us and get us back to mid-table premiership before deciding he needs another hip operation )

denis wise?! eugh. would rather keep wotte/bring back JP. KK will bring back the feel good factor and we all know what the spirit of Southampton can bring to our football club. An average consortium (i.e. not Paul Allen!) + an average/ small name manager doesnt equal the dawn of a new spirit of southampton. It may save our club but we'll soon take it for granted again and return to the run-of-the-mill team in the championship. If we're gonna go all the way up and have serious ambitions then the choice is between KK and maybe Ian Dowie. Shearer 3rd choice just cos he's still unproven. Anyone else and i have serious reservations about our potential in the medium-long term. I think KK is the only manager who could potentially manage us in the premiership out of the choices available to us. Dowie would get us there but then probably take us down again, Shearer would leave for Newcastle if he was that successful with us, Tisdale won't cut it tactially or psychologically at the top level. Wotte has the potential to take us back to the championship but we wouldn't replace him then after a promotion and he can't handle the tactical side of the championship. We'll waste a season changing manager to avoid relegation in our 1st year back in the championship under Wotte. Maybe Paul Ince will be ready in a couple of years time if we do change manager around that time.

It's a race between Pinnacle and the Swiss now IMO. What happens if both come into Mark Fry's office ready to sign at 3pm on Monday? Rock, paper, scissors perhaps?!?!?

the best thing I read about that is for the first time he's made a couple of spelling errors which means he didn't have time to proof read it which means he's in a rush which means our club is about to be saved I really don't give a toss who's money it is - the important thing is that we can spend enough in 3 years on a squad of championship play-off standard - a good manager and football chairman will be more than capable of getting us one step further up the tree and back to where we belong. Did anyone really expect our saviour to be any more than a previous unknown?!?! People that haven't been in the public interest would have no reason to be on wikipedia! The key to our success is a decent management structure and it seems that MF has his head screwed on a damn sight better than Lowe did! -

Really excitied now tbh. Spoke well and looks like he's leaving the business to the buisnees ppl and the football to the football ppl (MLT) even tho he said he 'wasn't at liberty' to say who would make the final decision over the new manager. The public exposure on SSN puts pressure on the FL but I am concerned that he hasn't let go of the 10 points and his attention seemed on that more than the CVA even tho it is my impression that the CVA is the sticking point. Very confident he has the money. Plenty of people have off-shore accounts and he has links to big money companies according to a couple of ppl on here. Will be done on Monday/Tuesday IMO cos I just don't believe the FL are getting there arses in gear. 100% it is only 1 person altho SSN seem to be getting alot of the technicalities wrong in the info they're giving out about us. Also hinted that he knew for definate who the new manager will be - I would suggest that means that compensation doesn't need to be paid if he's that sure and given that clubs wouldn't speak to 'prospective' new owners until they were sitting in the boardroom. Points towards KK IMO. Millwall in a few weeks. COYR!!! -
can we stop talking about eggs please. i feel sick p.s. any1 just see bbc news. apparently simon cowell and the guy who owns top shop are joining in a 'secret business adventure' but no1s quite sure what. let the rumours commence!...

Would You Take The Ten Point Deduction
Red And White Barmy Army replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
i noticed on SSN this morning that Keegan's promotion pts total seems to be around the 90-100 mark. even if we did lose 10 points (ignornoring other factors such as preperation) i think 80-90 pts would be pretty good and if we have to do it through the play-offs then i won't say no to a trip to wembley. -

you simply don't kick up a fuss in football when the authorities get involved. It's suicide. All over a number of points which could be made up in 4 games, and probably will given that we're playing millwall, stockport, swindon, etc this season. The FL will always win no matter how immoral or illegal I'm afraid. Pinnacle, can we please put a short-term matter of principle to one side to ensure the long-term future of my beloved football club. Thanks. -
um. no. he didn't set up 2 companies with the intention of avoiding a 10 pt penalty. if he had done then fair play. but he didn't and he is a ****
