LOL made i laugh
-
funny since you say that on a post that I thought is pretty straight forward. Or are you saying that Football is massive in Australia and Rugby is hardly followed? American football is a small sport in the USA? Beer is not sold throughout Rugby matches and all fans are segregated? your right in that I wasnt at the skates game but much of my family were and they all managed to get let out at the same time as the Poopy lot and still managed to get home without any trouble. No copper forced them to shake a fence or anything! What does me being there have to do with anything anyway? My opinion is nothing more than that. If you dont like my opinion then hit the ignore button and you wont have to see it.

Of course they have traveling fans and the distance is reduced because of the whole eastern western thingymajig. Obviously there are still some games that do cover huge distances and for those the traveling support is reduced but its still there. How many traveled to the UK for the NFL game at Wembley? Football to us is huge and its the same in many countrys. It doesnt excuse the violent eliment that seems to follow it though.
-
Thing is football fans are tarred with the same brush basically down to the violence of days gone by and then reminded of it by what happened when letting fans from a local derby out at the same time. its a small percentage of people in general but that doesnt make any difference.
-
Never knew that. did it make it better or worse?
-
Exactly. There are definately some things that football could learn from rugby but it will never happen.
-
By comparrison, as in the percentage of fans that follow rugby compared to the percentage that follow football. Australia is the main one I was thinking of. Football is not very followed at all yet Rugby is huge there. Although there is a load of american sports that fill stadiums that make some of our prem stadiums look small week in week out and thats just at College level. They manage to have non segregated stadiums with beer sold right through the game. Plenty of adverts too which no doubt calms everyone down. lol

the law and its technicalities is she ite but then thats what we love solicitors so much for lol
-
The 2 differences would still make the coppers decide on letting it go or doing something about it which is where I think I was trying to go. Hand bags at 10 paces more often than not results in a talking to with the possability of a fine thrown in. The other is more likly to result in further charges.
-
Who said I was comparing it to the 70's or 80's? The violence in general that is associated with football has determined the laws that are around now but without the violence from back then the police and public can only go on what they see and hear now. You really think singing about shooting people in a mass croud goes anyway to helping change the way football is supported and therefor policed?
-
It is to us and I would much rather go watch a footy match. But in some countrys its the main sport and has as big a following by comparrison. But the whole concept of Rugby is taken differently too football. I doubt football will ever achive that level of respect to be able to have fully mixed fans and so on but it still puts some of the football support to shame.
-
I would have thought intent has something to do with the 2. If 3 people stand on 1 side of the road threatening someone on the other side of the road with nothing in between them then its more like threatening behaviour. If the same 3 people tried to find ways past a line of police to make there point even clearer then its fair to say they intent it to be a bit more than just a threat. How the law defines the differences is probably a debate to be had in court between defence and procecution.
-
To be fair songs like that from every club probably go a long way to why football related crimes carry a tougher punishment. Rugby fans sing songs and chants to support there team or put down the other team but there is more respect between the 2 so the songs dont carry the same message. Why does todays football have to have the violent element?
-
LOL cant argue with that really. I think with Lowe we had a chairman that knew we didnt have much money so refused to spend and the carry-on outfit down the road had Storrie who knew they had no money but flashed the cash anyway. Spuds being a london club seem to have more money than sence too, buying back half the players they flogged to Poopy in the 1st place. Wonder if the bottom will eventually fall out of that one?
-
So what about the verbal threats to attack or kill people? Verbal threats to Police? Attempts to cause actual harm to other people? Im sure some of these translate into other offences which do carry the possability of custodial sentances even away from football stadiums. If all they did was what you are suggesting then the defence will have an easy job on there hands and it will be slapped wrists. My guess is the Police believe they did more than what you suggest and think they can get something out of it. I will be as hacked off as anyone if they did naff all but get time because of it but as plenty have already said, the law's are there, the public are aware of the law and the public had a choice on staying looking for trouble or walking away. No room for complaining now and specially as they have not been sentanced yet. Let them have there day in court and see what the defence and procecution come out with, then see if there punishment is in line with other similar offences or even fair.

I think the biggest problem was the manager. Although apart from the conspirecy theory of being on a mission from Poopy, I cant understand why he was so bad for us. Everywhere else he has been he has been a success and even twice at poopy! That team however or at least that squad of players, with the manager performing like we think he should have should not really have been in a relegation fight IMO.
-
He has got a point though
-
On paper its still hard to understand how that team got bloody relegated! Anders still plays at international level, apart from Davenport the defence had plenty of experience so should have been fairly solid, Jones Crouch and Camera as attacking threats are not short of a few goals, Delap still plays in the prem and Redknapp was still class even though it was his final year.
-
I was at that game and I thought he was really good then. Got forward really well and was probably the only person in our team putting crosses into the box. Lack of defensive skills probably cost him his place with us but under the right managment that is happy for a left back to go charging up the wing I always thought he would do OK. still a knob though.
-
Its suggested that someone is pushing for a 2 year prison sentance but no-where is this suggestion shown to be a fact. And I say again, if they are looking at a 2 year conviction for shaking a fence then they obviously have Borat's retard brother Bilo as there defence solicitor or the police have evidence of them doing more than shaking a bloody fence. The comparisons you have come out with your self should prove that a reasonable defence should be able to be put together to make sure they get nothing more than a slapped wrist for shaking a fence. If they get a heavier punishment than a Peado for doing nothing more than shaking a fence in front of the coppers then I agree the world has gone mad. But right now people are getting there pants twisted because of what the maximum punnishment is and because they think these idiots have just shook a fence. Some perspective is needed right now IMO.
-
I dont think anyone is arguing that it would have been avoided had the pompy lot been kept in but thats not the point. Tribalism at football matches and people looking for a ruck should in this day and age be not welcomed. How come opposing fans of 2 rugby teams can sit in non segregated stadiums with the bar's open through the whole game, drink, shout, sing and argue the toss about what ever decission with minimal police pressence and have no gobby hoody looking for a riot but we cant do it in football? Just dont think its welcome any more and maybe heavier punishments for those that cause trouble is the way forward? As long as people behave this way there should be punishments that fit. IMO
-
If we had our 10 points back we would be pushing for 2nd place now. Not bad considering the direction we were heading before the take over. Plenty to feel good about but still hurts to be so close yet so far.
-
I actually still find it quite funny. I know standing up for your team is the right thing to do but to try and suggest nothing is there fault when they are part of the club that put them into this situation is laughable. Its probably getting more embarresing for there fans. Not sure if they think that way or still think Avram is someone to continue to cheer on. It cant be long now before the authorities get involved can it? Are they really just leaving it to the administrator? Its obvious to just about everyone that something is not right and its probably illigal. So when will action be taken?
-
Dont get me wrong as I think its a brilliant idea and I almost stuck in a couple of quid myself. Im sure when we were in admin there was talk of Crouch or someone paying for something but the legalities of it meant that it couldnt happen. Something about a creditor being paid off ahead of other creditors that wasnt in the rules or something. Crap rule considering the bill they are trying to pay off is far more deserving that some player or dodgey agent. If they just make a donation that would cover the bill and St Johns just walk away from there debt you can bet some crook will make a fuss about whats owed to them and demand that a pompy bill has been paid in full so they deserve the same. Actually there is a school that's owed money too so surly they should be deserving too? The system is rubbish and its things like this that make it worse. How rich clubs, players and agents deserve there money before the likes of St John's and Schools is beyond me. I hope the just ask page is allowed to pay that bill and good luck the the true fans that are putting forward there own money for it.
-
Hats off to them for this, Shows up the muppets that ran their club into the ground. Problem is that any money coming into the club to pay debts needs to go via the administrator to be paid to the creditors based on certain critiera so the chances of St Johns getting any of it is pretty small.
