Southampton 1 - 1 Leyton Orient - Post match reaction

He did well while he was with us but ditched us at a crucial time. In the end it probably did worse for his career cause ive not seen him doing as well since yet we went onto the FA Cup final. He would have probably been a better choice than who ever else it was we got (its in the past so cant remember and cant be bothered to find out) but it would also probably have been better if I didnt spend so much money out last night. Too late to worry about it now so its old newssssssssssss. -

I see what your saying as the right choice doesnt necisarily need to be a top name, or someone who has been successful elsewhere. WGS and Hoddle were not the fans choice but they did well enough. Gray, Wigley, Rednapp and the Dutch clowns did not however. I know Lowe was the reason behind all the wronguns but plenty of other clubs make decissions that work or dont work out. My main gripe about Pards is the fact that the team still seems week when defending set pieces which is something that as a manager he should be working on training to sort these problems out. A good manager would not take over a season to fix the same problem. And like others have said, waiting till 80 mins to change things to me seems 10 mins too late. On paper the team he picks is not far off what most of us would probably pick and when the team play well it shows how there practice is doing some good so to change the manager IMO would have to be in order to improve where Pards is lacking. I just cant see a list of managers that would or could be doing better which is why its so frustrating. Enough is happening to make me think he is worth sticking with but little things are making me think we would be better off with someone else. -

But we are then back to who would come in at the level Pards should be or better? I pressume we would be looking for a manager that would not only get us out of league 1 but also take us to the prem, further than that it may be a toss up between keeping that manager or getting a decent manager for the top level but setting prioritys and all that.... So what top half championship level managers would we look for that have there team playing the fast passing attractive attacking football that Markus wanted to see? IMO there isnt much to choose from so we could frustratingly be stuck with Pards as long as the team fail to put away there chances. -

Didnt sunderland go on a charge after xmas a few years back to get promoted? XMAS is a good marker as by then you can look at averages and see which way things are heading. If NC makes a decision Pards will need more than Santa to change his mind however. I think he needs more than 2 games to attempt to correct the problems and give the team a chance to improve there finishing. We could have been 4 up by half time with a bit of luck and betting finishing and this board would have been a much happier place. lol -

Didnt Fergy almost get the boot in his early days cause of poor results? I think the reference to him is more about sticking with a manager that you believe in and maybe they will turn out alright. With the right support the dutch 2 could have done OK given time. Passing flowing football and all that would have been great to watch if it had worked. I dont think they are or were the right ment to make that success happen but then i doubt many Man U fans thought Fergy was going to be any good when his 1st season was rubbish either. -

Id like to think he would, but then I would have thought Pardew would achieve better results even if I dont think he is that great a manager. League 1 he should be doing well and Championship level I would say he should be a top half established manager. Prem manager???? Not so sure, maybe lower half Prem would be his top level if I was being kind. But if the team on paper should get 3 points, and they create enough chances to take the 3 points but fail to finish them then is it down to the manager? Like I said before, if Fergy was in charge and the team created but couldnt finish would we be saying Fergy should be sacked? Its tricky though cause based on where Pards should be achieving then the alternatives should be around the same kind of level at least. Who would we look to replace him with? I doubt NC will hang around if he wants shot of him but the manager merry-go-round is not something we want to get back into. If pards goes then NC should be looking at the next manager to be the one that gets backing all the way to the prem IMO. -

Not disagreeing with you at all. Just saying you could put Fergy in charge of our team but if the team dont finish there chances there will always be a problem. But what manager would be available to us that could make a difference? Pretty frustrating on all counts and we are going to put ourselves in trouble when we should be setting an example in this league. -
I know his faults and sure its frustrating but what manager would we be able to get that would make things any better? If the team dont put there chances away how is a plan b or c or d going to help?
-
We have hit the bar a few times and sounds like we have had enough chances to win 3 games. Would a different manager make a difference? Or what manager would make a difference?

Brilliant! Its got more updates than Twitter from official saints so its a winner from me already. do I need to refresh or is it automatic?
-
Been busy today and only just got to my comp!!! I have been following officialsaints on ****ter but theres only been like 4 updates!!! Sounds like we doin OK though? Pards needs to sort out our defending at set pieces from the sounds of it and we could do with a bit of luck getting the ball in the net. But otherwise sounds like we should go on to get the 3 points that Markus deserves!

No they didnt NC banned it all along with the photographers and ferets!

Anyone remember Jamie Hatch? I met his dad not so long back and he said Jamie was offered a year contract extention when the Dutch due were here. They could only offer a year because of the financial situation at the time but Jamie wanted 2 or more years. He thought he could get better else where so told them to stick it and left. He got offered a year down here in Torquay and he thought he was above league 2 so refused that too. Didnt play for a while and it seemed he had burnt his bridges but got offered a deal at Tiverton Town which is where he is now!!! He was around the club with Walcott and Bale and was marked to be going places much the same as them at the time. Got to the point of being on a few grand a week and still not getting in the 1st team. Started living the dream before he actually got somewhere. His dad said nothing but praise about the youth setup we once had though and it was strange to hear someone praise the dark lord so much. It was gutting to hear how things went for Jamie though and not nice to blatently see key moments where decissions could have made so much of a difference. Sounds like the comitment to youth is being put into practice with the OP's story though which is nice to see. Hopefully we can push on to create a few more like Bale and Theo and make the most out of the tallent we produce.

They must have had a meeting recently though as Palarse came out of admin and embargo was lifted. Your view on whats happend is more ballanced than some of your lot so its serious point and not trying point score o anything. Do you think it the league dragging there heals or the club? If its the club then on one hand the club are asking the league for favours in signing players that are only needed for a promotion push and on the other the club are not doing all they can to come out of admin. But if its the league then do you think you have anything to worry about in the short term? It may be me with my rivals head on still but I find it strange for a club to seem to have got through so much and relativly unscathed to still have so much up in the air???

Any idea why its going to take that long to get a meeting sorted?

Official Statement from Cortese about future
saintjay77 replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Saints
How come a positive statement is released, at a time that is both respectfully long enough after Markus' passing and timed perfectly before our next game, and we have people on here point scoring against each other? DBP hadn't even posted and he was mentioned a couple of times FFS! This board is getting pretty tiresome when the only debate going on is between the same old people trying to bring up the same old arguments time and time again. Personally i am glad NC still wants to see us succeed and it's great that the club sits with Markus' family now. I hope that a figure from the family steps forward to become part of the saints family so they can feel a proper part of the club. WIFM -
TBH I find that report absolutly gobsmacking! He may as well have put that little lot out as an advert for other clubs to show how to run up 100 million of debt and still come out of it with a half decent team ready to attempt a promotion push back to the money of the prem. If the FL look at it and think the same then they could make it very difficult for your lot to proceed but what seems more likly to happen is, they will see how your lot have completly flounced the rules and taken the P*ss and then adjust there rules to make sure no-one can take the P*ss in this way again. If I were to be unfortunate enough to support your lot I would feel chuffed to still have a club to support but absolutly disgusted at how they have gone about cheating the system to line the pockets of a few rich nobbers that only came here in the hope of earning some fast cash.

Every time there is a change in gov they spend the 1st year bleating on about how they are fixing the mess left from the last lot. When Labour got in before they pushed the whole time they were in about how they were improving the NHS and cutting waiting times that the previous Tory gov ignored. Now the Tory/Lib dems are on about cutting the public sector to pay for the debts that labour racked up and they will keep doing that for most of the time they are in gov. By the time everyone has had enough of them (prob another 10 years) they public will be fed up with something that the current gov have failed to make better and the new gov will come in promising to fix all the damage that this lot has made. I am hoping I can win a massive payout on the Euro millions and then buy a self sufficiant Island so I can bugger oof to leave the polititions to fight amongst them selves and in the mean time I will just hope to earn enough to keep mine and my familys heads above water.

Your club has somehow managed to get past what should have been an impossible hurdle so it wouldn't surprise me if they carry on flicking the V's at every other place normal clubs would slip up. But as others have already said, your not out of the woods yet. Chainrai still hasn't taken over, even though he was billed as being ready to take over as soon as the appeal was taken care of, the CVA still has to be upheld and the FL will want to make sure that anything you do is 100% correct before it gives you the go ahead. There will be a few years of struggling using free's and loans and the inevitable asset stripping from Chainrai so it may be a while before you are looking for good times again.
-
Your right he didn't have to do that and on face value hats off to him cause it's not fair for the lower end of the business Market who depend on all income to miss out on 80% of what they are owed, Of course they all also add up to a certain percentage and as they need there money more than most it would surly pay to keep them sweet or risk them adding to the vote against numbers when they laugh at being offered 20p on the pound. Not a bad little gesture for either side really was it?

Haha good answer!!! As for the original post, I pointed out to my dad when Markus was taking pictures from his seat of all of us. Both shocked that someone so minted was enjoying the day just as much as we were, but the shocked turned into a smile from ear to ear as that kind of showed us we were now owned by a guy that had fallin in love with a business that he had rescued. I am amazingly happy that I got to see my saints win a trophy at the new wembly and I'm just as happy to know Markus got to see the same in his short time with us.

Premier League Fantasy Football (SaintsWeb League)
saintjay77 replied to saintbletch's topic in The Saints
Well my one and only chance to gloat is here as im top of the league I joined yesterday!!!! Prob won't get another chance for the rest of the season though. Lol. Just read the past post with code and joined that today but not ranked yet. Anyone know if my scores from yesterday will be included or do I start from 0? -
Yawn! If you want to stick up for a bunch of goons that support your club and tarrnish the rest of the real fans then thats your problem. Any time Saints so called fans have been involved in anything you mention, the Majority of real Saints fans condem there actions and dont stick up for them. Every club has a minority of idiots that seem to ruin it for everyone else. But I dont see any other club than Pompy sticking up for these idiots or even encouraging them by joining in. Dont see what my age has got to do with anything. I commented on the way you seem to be sticking up for a bunch of idiots who have no respect. I was pretty sure comments had been removed from POL as that is what had been said by some of the people who got really hacked off by the original comments who saw them and later went back to find they had gone. I couldnt give a rats ass if they are there or not but prepared to take the word of a saints fan on here. Not in the same league I know but when your lot lost a keeper I saw nothing but respect on here so no denial needed. Idiots are everywhere. If you choose to stick for those idiots then that puts you in the same bracket as the goons you support.
