Just done a search on Google for Saints Photographer ban and can only find the odd independant reporter saying the ban is to be lifted. All the other reports are from papers before reporting on when the ban happened. Looks like the club will probably get more press if they keep the ban in place as if it has been lifted like that page says, the press prob wont report on our games at all. lol
-
Think the Sun just saw a story that was mildly interesting and had some fun with it. Think it got more people talking about us so in some sense gave us more press than it would of by calling us Southampton. I found it fun too.
-
None taken and its obviously NC's meeting at The Sun that has resulted in The Sun reporting us as Southampton again. Im not arguing that at all. The only place that states the ban has been lifted is that web page (which is the 1st time I have seen that site before so no idea on how credible it is) The only other evidence is that The Sun are now calling us Southampton. That could be due to any number of agreements made between NC and The Sun while he was there. The meeting must have gone well resulting in either a truce or NC backing down or the sun backing down. We wont really know until the club say something different or there are press photographers in SMS tomorrow. Will wait and see I guess?

Where? EDIT: Just seen that link. Seems a bit strange that the main papers make a big deal of the ban but say nothing about the ban being lifted. Im sure NC has said that the press are welcome but photgraphers are not. Admitidly its from a guy who went to a dinner rather than from the horses mouth but seems strange anyway.
-
Like TDD said, NC mentioned at the dinner party that Photographers are banned and said that the press have got there knickers in a twist about it. So if they are still banned (there is nothing anywhere to say otherwise) and The Sun is now calling us by our name rather than South Coast Team it would suggest that the meeting NC had with The Sun made The Sun change there opinion of the whole idea. It was enough for them to call us Southampton without a mention of the ban being lifted.
-
I may be wrong but I believe the photographers are still banned right? So it would be the paper that has U-Turned. Maybe NC explained the rational behind the way we do things now and the paper thought it was fair enough?
-
wonder what odds I would get on us winning the Champions League in the next 10 or so years? EDIT: Well happy with reading the fact that he is prepared to meet with fans and even more happy at the outcome of the meeting.

Actually we want your club to go out of business to screw up the charlatans that run it and have run it. If the club goes down that route then all the cheating gits that have creamed money out of your club while Hospitals and Charity's and local business's go without. Unfortunatly for you that would also mean that its recognised your FA Cup runs were a false ride and your fans would suffer some shame at the way the club has been run into the ground. What we also would like is for some of the blue few to start an AFC Pompy or something and build it up with people who actually care about your club. The sooner you get back to being genuine rivals again the better for us. Getting top dog status in Local derbys is a great buzz for our city as much as it is for your village and I doubt there are many fans from either club that want to see the end of them. Our feelings about how your lot have run things are the same as if another club did the same thing. Yes there are other clubs in trouble but none, I repeat, NONE!!!! Have gone to the extremes or continued to flick the V's in the same way your club has. All of the other clubs have delt with the issue of owing money by selling players and reducing the wage bill. Your club took the owing of money to new extremes and even when your threatened with going out of existance you raise the wage bill even more! I find it staggering how some of you can defend how badly your club has been run. A few of you can see what most of us are saying and even agree. Most of you however cant see your club is being used and robbed to line the pockets of the already rich while the local people suffer and you think its all a good thing. lol

It gets dark.

Yeah paying attention to some of the reports and I cringe. But that's where it's going to take time for some to accept that the BS that goes on in the press is nothing more than that. The press have reported on what others have said about our chairman loads lately but our chairman has kept quiet and only released statements via the club when there has been something to say. SSN 5 mins ago went on about how the Adkins deal is on, off, on, off and back on again. Fininshing that statement with how the club have said it's back on. I havent seen the club say anything other than negotiations continue. Doesn't say with who so SSN are filling in the blanks rather than using anything official. I think eventually we will be laughing at the reports rather than the club as NC will just keep doing things behind closed doors till everyone gets used to it. Had it been Lowe in charge he would have spent the day in front of tv camera's telling everyone not allot but winding us right up.

I think it's going to take a while before some people get the message that saints don't do speculation. I don't think it makes any particular decision or statement any better but understand it's how things should be done. Kinda takes some of the fun out of the rumour mill though. Most clubs hear rumours and can debate for hours if it's true or not. We know it's all donkey balls until we get told something different on the OS.
-
It's fair to say that in saintjay77's opinion.

SSN reporting that S****horpe say the offer to Adkins is withdrawn

Are you sure you support the Saints? While I am as confused as everyone else Saints are like my extended family. If one of my Kids mucked up I would still defend them with my life. Why is it that every news story or rumour is greated by so many so called Saints Fans with nothing but abuse and automatic siding with anyone but the club? If the club put out a public statement to say what ever then as a fan of Southampton FC I am prepared to take that word over some of the many hashed reports that appear all over the place. The way the business appears to be run says to me that unless you hear it from the club then its prob bull from those that wish they were in the circle of trust. I have my reservations that all may not be well but this is still my club and I will continue to back it. What club do you support? -
I doubt anyone wont give him a chance but I can understand peoples feelings on feeling a little let down. I hope he will do fantastically and take us all the way to the champions league in years to come. But I was also hoping the new manager would be someone I would expect to take us that far rather than hope. He may do it and he may now. My expectation levels are not as high as they once were but would love it if I am proved wrong.

I think the info the BBC let out on 5live saying a Saints Source said the deal will be done this week and it will be one that proves to the fans that NC knows what he is doing was turned into the "wow factor" Obviously not the same but does this deal show that NC knows what he is doing or does it leave many more questions?
-
I think it would be safe to assume that if they are paying that kind of money to them 2 and publicly stating it, the other players already at the club are probably not within the 10k wage limit either. The likes of Kanu, Rocha, Mullins, Nugent, Mokoena and Utaka are never going to be within that limit. The fishy smell down there is awful and I cant believe the press still pump out the poor old poopy message. Someone else mentioned it before somewhere in this thread, until the press turn on them they will continue to flick the V's and get away with what ever they can. Chairmen of other clubs might not want to stick up for them in the past and current chairmen might have the same view. But until they get a public kicking in the press the rest of the country will stick up for them and feel soory for how bad things have got for them. Sickening when you see other clubs get into trouble and have to really work hard to make things right.

Ah sweet. Will give that a try. TBH I saw the top and thought it's arse so ditched it before I got to the bottom. Lol
-
Surly they only need to have an account on here to find out what your doing all the time?
-
Fast as took but crap IMO. won't be goin there on my mobile any more. Lol
-
Lol I didn't see that one. Saw the twit having a dig at Paul hart and then a retraction later kind of cause of sounding arrogant or somit. Lol

Can't imagine browns interviews are going to get him anywhere near the hot seat. NC likes to keep things private and brown is going round telling everyone he has had an interview and how much he wants the job. If that didn't come across in the interview then it won't come across any better in the press. Nice to hear positive talk about us though. I hope he doesn't come back later with a slating for not being offered the job. ;o)
-
Its a weird one IMO as Saints FC are known as one of the bigger clubs due to the history of being in the top flight for so long so on that basis going from Scunny to Saints is a step up. But right now we are a league below them having just sacked an ex Prem manager at a really odd time and have an issue with just about anyone that dare question our chairman. Does that really look like a club thats a step up from a prety stable Championship club? IMO a step up from that level would be a team challenging for promotion to the prem or a lower half prem team looking to stay in the prem. Dropping down to L1 is normally left to someone that has something to prove or wants a challenge. Adkins has proved he can get promotion from L1 and proved he can keep a club in the Championship. His next challenge would normally be to go for promotion to the prem or above. We could well be that 1 step backwards leads to 2 big steps forwards but after seeing Pards cut adrift is our club the place for an upcomming manager to take these steps? I said before that I hope (if we really have got him) he turns out to be another Pearson and does better than expected. Im sure he will get full support from everyone and the better he does the more the support will gain. Good luck to him if he is coming and I hope he will understand the questioning that the club will no doubt get.
-
NC doesnt strike me as the kind of chap to go asking for a bit of love and compasion from anyone though. Build up a relationship with top brass maybe but not the ass kisser type IMO. The rags are the type to invite someone like NC into there offices and be all nice as pie then completly slate them in the papers the next day so I dont hold much hope in NC's visit doing too much good. Will wait and see.
-
True enough, but thats the point. If we were in the prem taking a Championship manager then it would be because they earned a chance to step up. Sitting where we are, aiming for the dizzy heights of Scunny doesnt sound all that. Accepting we are a L1 club and taking a Championship manager sounds alot better. Just doesnt sound like its something our club is used to aiming for. Still adjusting to life in the lower league I guess???

Who'da thunk I would agree with you on somit.
