  1. Maybe the meaning is being lost in translation but when they talk of things still to be agreed it makes you wonder how the administrators were alloud to count these figures in the initial CVA count only to question the same figures later on when talk of actual money is involved.
  2. Bit wierd that he can be sold outside of the transfer window isnt it? No mention of a loan with a view to a perminent or anything like that. I saw him play in the Pre season friendly against Plym and thought he would tear shreads out of all sorts of teams. Very aggressive and attack minded getting the ball into the box. Next time I saw him he was W@*k and before long he was home sick and was gone. Bit of a nobber really.
  3. I would be suprised if that game isnt on the telly. As the rights to show it will prolly be on the BBC or ITV im not suprised as its not often that they get to show a Prem v Prem game so can understand them showing it above others. That said, I agree with you in that the possible giant killing game is much better for the neutrals who most of which have access to sky or a local pub showing Prem v Prem games week in week out. Our game, although doesnt screem out as being a must watch for even the 2 sets of supporters involved does at least provide the chance of a league 1 team upseting a prem team. Not enough to put it as a tv match though. Even if FC United get through I cant see them against Pompey being a TV match either. The idea of a giant killing has to have some kind of chance that it can be pulled off and the way Pompey have played this season I wouldnt give FC United much of a chance at all. Brighton might just about have a chance but again thats only good telly to the more local. Im not sure of the other games would actually be highlighted as being marked for the tv either. There are not many that look like they could boost the tv ratings for who ever is showing them and thats all the tv companys care about unfortunatly.
  4. You think the Pool have a chance of beating us?????
  5. I've had a beef about Internet comentary for ages. They want to charge us for a BBC service that most of us have paid for in our licence fee for a start. If they provided a dedicated service that was superior to the free BBC service I would be more inclined to pay for it. But people accept saints robbing the BBC commentary, screwing it up and then charging for it. I wonder if people would accept a charge for BBC 1 if saints slapped a badge on it?
  6. I didn't follow leftback and couldn't give a monkeys but now I'm interested as I realised I have no life. I think there should be a banned list with a quick reason as to why the user is banned and what date they are due back. Name and shame people who break the rules I say. But couldn't give a monkeys if the above doesn't happen either as no doubt I will find my life hidden down the back of the sofa with my car keys and a chewy sweet.
  7. Not allot happening on this thread right now because there is not allot happening with your club right now. The court cases may earn you a point deduction which could throw your club back into a spiral downwards as those expecting their money back with interest, might be looking at shelling much more money out for very little return. If the court cases bring you no deductions then chainrai wi carry on with his plan and sell up to who ever will front the money. That could in turn extend this thread by another season as it seems only chancers are interested so far. So while this thread is barely ticking along, it's a sleeping giant just waiting for a little spark to kick it back to life.
  8. Cortese is the new Lowe dont ya know....... If its good then its a fluke or the team/management did it in spite of the Dark Lord. If its bad then its all the Dark Lords fault no matter who is wearing the Dark Lord Sweatshirt and name badge. To be fair, if I was the one in charge of the purse strings I think I would still say no every now and then. Not just because I feel like it or because I think I know more than the manager, but because I would set out a plan of how much money will be available through the season and agree with the manager these limits and then stick to them as much as possible. We have a squad that is capable of being in the top 2 and some decent youngens that we would look to loan in if they were elsewhere wanting some game time. Doble I think will get a chance fairly soon and I think he is more than capable of taking it. No point in just getting people in for the sake of it so if the right people were not available then stick to what we have. No need to whine and ****** about it as if someone has screwed up.
  9. Makes sense as blackstock is up for an op. I'm guessing as we know pretty much bugger all about who we may be interested in and more of us are thinking we will get no-one, that right at the last minute there will be a star signing that no-one even thought about!
  10. BBC_Matt says tudgay could be on his way from shefield wednesday. Would he be someone we would be in for?
  11. Well yeah fair point but NC is the link between the family and the club so using NC as the person backing the club is fair enough I think. It would take a complete mentalist saints supporter to not know its the Liebherr family that have the money. Still think its a bit odd that Adkins has brought this up at a time when the team is starting to deliver on the pitch and money doesnt seem to be a worry. Has the press been asking questions about possible backing in January?
  12. Adkins is praising the support which is nice but he mentions NC backing him finacially too. I know some have questioned if the money will still be there or not but has there been anything else latley suggesting otherwise? Seemed a bit strange that he threw in the comments unless I have missed something? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2227439,00.html
  13. I think that is a problem with policing in general but is highlighted with this case. They made their decisions and acted the way they did. I can understand the law making examples of football related violence as previously discussed but as the verdicts have proved it seems like the police/CPS have gone down the wrong track wasting time, money and reputations and there is no where for the public to turn for answers. If the police treat football fans with respect and deal with situations reasonably they generally get a fair response from the fans. Treat them like caged animals and they start to behave like caged animals. Throw the book at fans without sufficient evidence to back up their claims and they build resentment from the fans. Fans should be able to go to a footy match seeing police thinking it's good they are there to look out for trouble and keep the piece. Instead they go to the footy and think the police are ready to arrest them for looking the wrong direction. If they told the public before the match that the fence will be used and fans will be let out together for what ever reason, and anyone caught trying to breach the barrier will be taken away for a night in the cell's and a £80 fine then the fans may have acted differently or been more accepting had they been fined or what ever. Instead the police have dented the respect by looking like they have tried to set people up for a fall and it's back fired. Even still I think it's fair enough to try something different but I think they could have done allot better.
  14. I don't think anyone disagree's with this. Had the police not put the fence up and still let them out together your point would have more value. But they must have decided before the match to use the fence and to kick everyone out together no matter of the result and organised policing accordingly. It's not a small scale operation and they probably didn't have an "if" option so had to go with what they organised. Was it the wrong decision? Probably yes. Could it have gone better? Probably yes. Would it have been better to do it the old way? IMO probably yes but unless the police give some reasons why they wanted to do it this way or what they expected from it then we don't know if they thought they should have done it the old way or not.
  15. For the sake of argument, If the person who would be frothing at the mouth spent the entire match sat amongst both home and away fans sharing the highs and lows from both ends, would they be frothing at the mouth so much? Sometimes the segregation can add to the whole tribal warfare that can and has done many times turn into much more than fan rivalry. There is something special about segregation at football though. An obvious direction to aim songs and chants or the feeling that the minority away fans are able to be heard over the majority home fans. But if people can't learn to behave at footy and segregation is here to stay then the compromise is police treating so called normal people like potential rioters and the punishments will always seem over the top.
  16. Football is not the only passionately supported sport though. Rugby has very passionate fans and cricket has fans singing and getting smashed all day long. Americans are passionate about there stop start handball game and also ice hockey and basket ball. All of which don't segregate the fans and all of which have match day experiences that are generally enjoyed by all. It's only football that is either stuck in the dark ages or is left with the mongs that don't know how to behave. And for the record I am as barmy as they come and will join in with the singing chanting and banter that goes on. I also play skater hockey and have done for around 15 years so I'm not immune to the rough stuff either. I just see supporting football as more of a family activity these days from young to old and think the idiots that follow it for a ruck are out dated.
  17. How about your mate goes and watches Hampshire play cricket at the Rose Bowl and when they lose he goes looking for the opposing fans so he can have a Pop then? Trouble maker or not his behaviour (along with shed loads of others) was a bit stupid after the match. It doesnt excuse the police nicking him and not everyone else doing the same stupid things or the CPS for bringing charges on someone without enough evidence, or the paper for splashing names, addresses and pictures all over the place either. But act a tool at a football match and your asking for trouble. How long before people learn this?
  18. If there was a discussion before the match that talked about putting the public saftey at risk so they could nik a few idiots that think they are a "firm" then there is something seriously out of order. The whole fence idea would have been discussed with the club as well so I cant see the club agreeing to it if the reason behind it was to prevoke a bit of a kick off. If it was discussed and those very reasons were mentioned then there really is a story for the press to get hold of. The local police knowingly putting the public safty at risk so they can stamp on a few chavs wanting a fight!! And the Club agreeing to it too!!!! Proper front page news there! Your last example shows that there are other options though and also shows that the wider police force are looking at clubs and possibly looking at ways they can change things or ways that they police games. Looking at the way some other countrys police games with riot shields and battons which more often than not results in riots all round, english football has at least tried to police games in a more relaxed manor that has more often than not resulted in less trouble or riots. I dont think the police have the balls to try policing any matches with no segregation and i dont think i would have the balls to make the decission if it were mine to make. But there must be some kind of middle ground or an attempt to get football fans following the example set by other sports. Also after the Africa WC showed that no segregation can happen, what would England do if it won the bid to host the World Cup? Would that also be a no segregation event like Africa? Wonder if the idea is on there radar and if it is I wonder what it would mean to the local game?
  19. I dont get how they can have made the decission to let them out just so they could nik a few muppets. Had they not put a fence up and then did it I might be able to agree. But they didnt decide to put the fence up for no reason and no doubt they would have discussed at great legnths before the match what they planned to do. So the decission to let them all out together must have been something they decided before the match was even started. The fact they did it even after we got hammered (scoreline not performance) suggests to me that the plan was to do it no matter what. How could they justify the cost of the fence otherwise? Our ground and surrounding area has the capacity to be able to try something like the fence. Farton park does not so keeping the fans in is the perferable option as without a fence it would be almost impossible to police. They may decide to keep fans in if there is a next time or they may decide to try something completly different. There are innocents in the away end too and anyone outside hanging around for trouble are more likly going to leave the area to try and ambush the away fans on route out of the area. Letting them all out at the same time means the police can get shot of them before the idiots can group up outside. There are arguments for both sides but the one thing that seems to never change is the ability of football to attract the idiots that want trouble. The world cup must be the 1st football competition where there was no segregation inside and outside of the grounds and no trouble either. Is that becuase the idiots were not there or because without the segregation fans resorted to friendly face to face banter?
  20. I'm not someone who thinks they were completely out of order with the fence. I don't think it worked as well as they wanted it too and I don't think it's the right solution for any match day. But the idea of getting rid of fans as quick as poss or punishing minor offences to try and force the numpty element out is more on the side of a good idea than bad. IMO fans should be able to go and watch a football match without thoughts of getting into trouble. If it can happen in rugby and other sports I'm sure it can happen in football. There will always be idiots but football shouldn't have to suffer for them.
  21. The Beeb guy on twitter seems to suggest that the Co-Op will be looking to put the club into administration within a few days unless something drastic happens with someone wanting to buy the club. No mention of the Andriod getting another Administration job which I found strange as he did so well at making everyone else look like suckers. Wednesdays tax bill doesnt seem like much compared to A N Other club's though. Maybe they have a few more years to run before they need to worry about paying it? It will be interesting to see how any administrator deals with the club if one is appointed though. Will they follow the andriods business model or will they actually do some administration work?
  22. If true he is not doing himself any favours by sulking and letting his form drop. Financially we are in a position where we can tell other clubs to bog off and looking ahead we want to be looking to keep together a good team that will take us upwards. Getting a sulk on for half a season its unlikly Middlebrough will be coming back sniffing at January or anyone else for that matter. If he wants a move he should make it known to the powers that be, then work his socks off regardless of the answer from the club. Come January there would still be people sniffing around and he can make his feelings known again. Trying to play hard ball with a club that financially can afford to let you rot in the development side doesnt sound like it would be the best plan IMO. Hopefully just a rumour though and a couple of good goals will pick him back up and we can start looking for the spots that will get us in the NPC next season.
  23. I was about to post the exact same thing!!! Its got to be someone on the wind up surely??? My 7 year old kid could work out that there income is not more than there outgoing!!! Maybe they are paying tax bills now (would be stupid not to) but each CVA payments that they attempt to make is effectivly continueing the cheat that got them to 2 FA cup finals! I can understand them being happy to have a club left to support but they way that they got there shouldnt really leave a sweet taste in their mouth.

My wife's cousin started off as a page 3 model for the sun. Still does modelling from time to time but now counts herself as a dj, business woman and an entrepreneur. Was on the only way is Essex a couple of weeks back where she showed exactly the type of girl it takes to be a page 3 model
