Cortese said not so long back that if the family wanted out he would sort it and bring others of equal value in without a problem. Cant see why they would be unhappy with that. If they want out and dont want to pay him off then just sit back and let him bring someone else in and they are one. This comment made me think though: If thats the comedien that im thinking about, doesnt his brother or something post on here? Should be pretty easy to confirm if that post is garbage or not if so?
-
Am I right in thinking that is just a request to drop the charges of contempt of court? It doesn't look like it's the actual tax case's. Still, would be interesting to find out more, like how it went and what it's all about n all that.
-
Agree with that. It would do him no harm at all to hold out till the end if the season and then assess his options. If we get promoted his has a choice of a 1st team spot in a championship team that is aiming for top 6 or a reserve/academy spot for arsenal, or any number of other prem clubs who would be interested by then. If we don't get promoted then he will have the same choices for other clubs or another year in league 1 with us. At that point he would be gone for sure. If he goes now I would be amazed if he see's any 1st team prem football for the 1st year and the 2nd year would prob only get him cup football. By that time we could be back in the prem playing our kids who have come up through the ranks taking up the spot he could of had in our 1st team. We have the money behind us to be able to reward the players according to the level we reach so the riches that players are after are there if they all push the same way as the club.

This woindow is proving to be tricky for Cortese. What ever happens we need to come out of it with the same focus and drive to get where we want to as before. If players jump ship it suggests not everyone had bought into the plan that he had of building a team that will be competing with englands best within a couple of years. He needed to convince the players that its worth there while sticking with us. Telling the players we are going places then letting one of our brightest tallents go must have an effect on the rest of the players. None of them want to be in league one when they believe they can play at a higher level. But if they dont see us making strong moves then there mood will change. As soon as one player has his head turned and looks to pastures greener it can have a chain reaction on the other players. The house of cards can quickly fall. If Chambo goes then we need to be strong and replace him straight away. I dont think the loan back option will happen and I dont think he would get the same support or be the same player if it did. Why play someone elses player ahead of a player that wants to be with us? Getting a loan in to cover a position is one thing but getting a loan player in that wants to be somewhere else cant be good for the team. So if he goes and a decent replacement comes in then the team unit will still be confident we are in with a good chance. If no-one comes in then there is a good chance Lambert or Fonte will be interested to hear of possible transfers to higher clubs to make sure they maximise there own future. I personally still think Cortese wont be screwed about and will only accept a deal if it wont effect his plan of getting us promoted this year and challenging next year. I dont think he has a plan for us not getting us promoted and he wont want to start planning for that now.

To be honest I haven't seen the SSN bit with his dad so take this with a pinch of salt but..... There is a way of asking questions that Sky Sports like to use to get certain answers that they can use later on. For instance if they said, "The rumour of Man City, Newcastle and Arsenal trying to buy your son, where would you prefer him to go?" His prefered choice may well be Arsenal in that choice and in saying it SSN can repeat it as fact for the rest of the week. From whats been said on here it doesnt sound like he was asked if a bid had actually gone in or if his son has actually asked for a move. He even added to his own comments that no talks had gone on between the clubs as yet but SSN will forget to mention that every time they say Chambo prefers a move to Arsenal. Arsenals own website have just quoted what Arsene said in the interview. Which is the same story that is everywhere else and is being made more of than it actually is. Arsene was told by a reporter who claims he has more info than anyone else in that he has been told by "someone close to Chambo" that he wants a move to Arsenal. Wenger responds with "If thats true then its a good decision" he then goes on to say nothing has been done yet with the clubs. So its all based on what 1 reporter has said which sounds to me like he was clever in how he asked a question to get a response he could then print. Effectivly Wenger has been tricked into publicly tapping up a player from another club. No talks between the clubs about said player yet Wenger has publicly said he wants to try and sign said player. If Chambo puts in a transfer request now we could have Arsenal by the short and curlys for tapping up. (well probably not but it could be an option) If Arsenal come up with an offer that is too good to turn down then it will no doubt happen. But what offer is too good? We dont need money but we do need our best players. Blackpool are in the same boat with Adam. He may be worth say 10 mil (thats what I think teams should be offering and 4 mil is taking the P) but if blackpool sell him and lose there key player that effectivly earns them all there points, then they could get relegated losing out on 45 mil. So then 10 mil doesnt seem as good an offer as you would think. So how must is Chambo worth to our promotion push? 5 mil now and 5 later if he makes it at arsenal is not that great an offer when promotion will be worth at least 5 mil next year and puts us in the hat for getting back to the prem which is worth far more. We wont get in the prem if we cant get out of league 1!

Thats the thing though, if he goes and we dont take him back on loan, he could well be playing against our academy team in the youth cup or somthing. Bit of a step down in progress for a bit of extra wonga. So far he seems to have ignored the speculation and got on with doing his job so hats off to him for that. My opinion would change if he refuses to play to get a move though. I still think the more press there is the more Cortese will be happy to tell them to do one. If a club wants our players then they need to do business in private or they can shift off. Same goes the other way, if we want a player then that player can keep quiet until a deal has been done. There have a been a few players that have spoken up about supposed interest from us. Quick as a flash, naff all happened! Its in private or not at all seems to be NC's way and long may it continue.
-
IMO, if he wants to go so soon after signing a long contract then the club should stick him back in his age group for the remainder of his contract. 17 years old playing in the 1st team of a promotion chasing league 1 team is not half bad. It was good enough for him when he signed the contract so it should be good enough for him now. Clubs spend fortunes on players and at the end of the day the player dictates to the club what he wants to do and its the club that often loses out. I think if I were in charge of the club I might go with a compromise with the player. Find out how much he could be on with the big club and offer to renegotiate his contract at the end of the season. If we get promoted his contract gets re-written with the wages he would have been earning at a higher level. If we dont get promoted then he is free to talk to other clubs. His development wont be hampered and either way he will secure his furture with cash at the end of the season. Wenger should keep his trap shut in the press too. He complains that Barcelona do business in the press when they want fabregas but it seems he thinks its OK to do the same with Chambo.
-
I see where your coming from and I'm not trying to suggest that we are some amazing club already. But imagine Cortese as a salesman. If he is talking of us as the next Barcelona he won't be talking like we maybe the next Barcelona in the next 10 years or so. He will be trying to get the while club thinking along the lines of being a world class outfit now. Success needs to follow for it to be of any real worth but the projection from the club to the outside world needs to be top notch from the beginning. IMO statements of the clubs intent needs to start as they mean to go on. We want to build the club with it's home grown talent and do business when we want to. Selling that home grown talent when the 1st big club comes knocking just damages the ethos that the club is trying to portray.
-
Maybe your right. But if they have been convinced that the team is pushing for back to back promotions and they will be a part of the next Barcelona then selling the best players may test their conviction. If I were a player and I genuinely believed I was going to be part of something really great within a time frame that fitted well within my professional career, then I would be hard pushed to scrap it and change tact for any club. If I didn't fully believe however I would be off for a better offer as soon as it came along. Lallana looks to believe and be fully on the bus. That's a statement to the other players and fans which suggests we are building for some really good times. If chambo follows suit then the mood in the club will be much more positive. Now if 1 of our best players jumps ship, along with puncheon not buying into the direction we are trying to head. What mood will the other players have? If there is an offer for any of them, how many will think they want to get off the bus? I just think the impact could have much more of an effect than losing one player.
-
I'm not so sure. It seems Cortese wants the club to be more than every other club in the league. The talk of Barcelona type model and building the club from the youth up suggests we are not aiming to be just like every other club outside the top 4 prem teams. Selling our youth because big clubs come knocking suggests we are just like every other club outside the top 4 prem teams and those on the bus may change their views on where the bus is due to stop. If we are going to be a club that breaks into the top levels then we need to have a bit of steel about us and follow through on the ideas that are being suggested IMO.
-
If true he is a fool. He had a chance to play against Man U next week and show off his talents, On the bench is better than not on the bus and what ever club he is at he will have to put up with what the manager says! End of! That said, he may have crossed the line but is it better to have players that are happy to warm the bench or players that want to be in the starting line up every week?

SSN just had a bit about Ox. Said sources say newspaper reports are wide of the mark. Ox's advisers say they see Arsenal as the best place for Ox as they will nurture his talent. Nothing new other than SSN are either trying to sound like they are speaking to someone who has a real effect on Ox's future, or they really are and it's a matter if time before he is gone. If he does go I think the idea of building a team that will one day challenge for top honours will be out of the window and there will be a real shift throughout the club. Although I still stand by my previous post in that the more public it is the more Cortese will steer clear.
-
I think 1 thing we have in our favour is that none of the transfers we have been involved in so far have been done in the public eye. In fact, any supposed transfers that have been leaked have swiftly fallen through or not happened. The more the press talk about a transfer that is happening with us the less likely it will happen. IMO. If clubs and players want to deal with us they need to keep there mouths shut and do business in a business like manner. Try and hold us to ransom in the press and they get nothing. That's how it seems to have been so far anyway. I don't see Cortese changing the way he dies things too soon either.

Le Tissier Snubbed ticket for United game ?
saintjay77 replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Cant fault the point on MLT at all. But he never won us a League title, or a cup. He kept a team that should have been relegated many times higher than there station. If Coretese leads the club back to the same level and we stay there for 17 years then he will still be behind the status of MLT IMO as still the credit will go to those on the pitch more than those in the board room. But he has said he wants success in Champions league football! If the club achieve that in his tenure then surly a big chunk of credit would go to him for getting us there? Credit would still go to the players for doing the job but if the Chairman says thats the direction we are going and we get there then it is no fluke and he should be credited for it. Would that level of success not put him in the same regard as MLT, Laurie Mac, and Ted Bates? I think it would personally. I would be as shocked and amazed as the next man if we actually make it there mind but for anyone to lead us to those levels then they would automatically be raised to legend status for bringing a level of success to our club that has never been seen before. -

This is a debate that will only have a winner if one of the partys royally shafts us and ruins anything he had done in the past. On what Tiss did for us in the 17 years he was with us he will never be forgotton, and like someone else said he will have a statue outside the ground at some point and will remain our hero for years to come. But Cortese has spearheaded the rescue of our club while Tiss was backing an estage agent! We are in the top 10 richest clubs in the leagues (on paper) and have a target of champions league football competing with the best clubs in the world! Our aim is not to buy the best players around to take us there, but to create them ourselves. Obviously Cortese needs to steer the club to this point before he is regarded as any kind of legend for our club. If he fails he will just be the guy who helped rescue us when we were in the pooh and be forgotton pretty quickly. But right now we are at the beginning of what could be a fecking good journy. Right now: Le Tiss = Playing Legend and please keep out of the polotics Cortese = Thanks so far and keep up the good work but please respect our history 5 years time if things go to plan: Le Tiss = Playing legend and please keep out of the polotics Cortese = Take my wife and turn her from an underperformer into a Wonder Woman 5 years time if things had gone arse up: Le Tiss = Playing legend and please keep out of the polotics Cortese = Who? -
Im guessing it will be a little more specific and regards anything that brings the club into disripute or something. Basically there is not much they can say that will bring it any further into disripute so I doubt there cacking their pants over this.

While its nice to think that past players and there familiys can be treated well by the club and can be acomodated when ever it suits, its also nice to know that they are not being put above the fans who have plowed their own money into the club for years and being part of making the ex players their money and public status. Think the pair of them need to grow up though and sort this kind of stuff out privatly. NC is never going to win over our love of Le Tiss but likewise Le Tiss is never going to win over the person who saved our club and is aiming for champions league football for us! -
Ask him if he is looking forward to playing against Man U in the cup?
-
Oh no! Pompey might have to look for new transfer targets! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6678851,00.html

Yeah fair enough. I was just doing the same really. I think we were so used to how things "were done" and the change to how things are done now is not easy to accept. I get the feeling that cortese is treating us like a big club. In it's ground, facility's, staff and the way it does business. He is setting out a model of creating our own superstars that can go on and challenge for titles and silverware for us. To sell the best kids as soon as they make the break through would just undermine his plans IMO. I was telling a villa supporting mate that AOC was going nowhere and that if the plans for our club are reached then we would see champions league football before he would. He made a comment of how us being a league 1 club, we couldn't afford to turn down even half of the money talked about for AOC! We are still testing the waters asking questions of Cortese and Markus's family so it should be no surprise to hear other fans have no idea either. I'm looking forward to Cortese delivering though.
-
There is always pressure from us lot when ever there is a hint of anything in the press. Cortese and there for, the club, do business in a private way. So they don't release statements all the time about everything. When he does speak, even with flat out answers in our favour, it still raises more questions from us lot. He says the money is there yet we question it. He says we a building the team to breed it's own top class talent and not sell out best kids and we question it. At some point the penny will drop and despite our lowly league position, our club will be treated like a big club and us lot might start having some faith in how we move forward. AOC and his family may have been told to keep quiet and not to respond to speculation as AOC is very much in the plans of this club now and also in the championship next season. If him or his family think they can do better elsewhere then let them speak up. Otherwise head down and get in with the job he has. Seems to me that's what he is doing so I see no need for a statement from anyone IMO. All could fall apart for us if it appears we have gone stale and don't look to be moving forward. That's IMO where cortese decided to get rid of pards. He couldn't see us achieving the future he wants with pards at the club. Hasn't let us down so far?
-
What did SC say that upset him?
-
Think sending Doble out on loan would a good idea. I have a feeling he could be class for us and would benifit with getting some games under his belt. Would be a good replacement for DC if he can get some experience and come back competing with the others. Seems to be stuck where he is at the mo.
