  1. Cheers peachy. Good read and I like jose's idea of being back there next year. Is he planning on being in the championships team of the season too?
  2. I dont think he made the wrong decission as I doubt we could offer him much of a choice at the time. As I just said on the other post, in the long run he has gone on to prove he has the quality to make it anyway so its kind of a null argument. I think the extra time would of helped him but he has gone on and done it anyway so well done to him. Glad he came from us and hope he goes on to be counted as one of the worlds best. Dont think he is far off that already mind.
  3. I agree and I dont think we were in a position to even offer him any more time with us so I am not argueing that I think he should of stayed longer. Circumstances meant we needed cash and he was a salable asset that was good enough to step up. As for walking into their team, I dont think anyone can do that but the amount of money speant I think he and the spuds fans would of expected more of a return in his 1st season. The extra time in the CCC had it been an option one way or another would have probably done him some good but he has gone on to prove that 1 season hasnt hampered him in the long run.
  4. As good as he has turned out I do think another season in the championship would have done him good too. He was left out in the cold almost for the 1st season there and when ever he played the team lost for a while too. Shows if your good enough you can make it no matter what though. No need to rush things and listen to the right people and talent will take you far. Theo prob likes his pay packets now but I wonder if he thinks he should be getting the acknowledgements that Bale is getting?
  5. Really??
  6. Nah, he defo believed what he was saying in that Bale or Bridge could drop back and cover while the other attacked kind of thing. I scratched my head a bit on it too. Big Mac was introduced as someone who oversaw Bales early career and was kind of given some credit in his development. He then went on to say how much ole saggy chops has done for Bale and how its down to him that Bale is where he is today. Got naff all to do with the youth development that also brought through Walcott and several other players that seem to be doing pretty good throughout the leagues right now of course. lol Still, its good to see someone getting so much attention and seeing Saints getting some kind of acknowledgement for it.
  7. Seems claus believes it's him. @saintskipper5 Yes, hes sat next to me so its him @mattletiss7 web • 17/04/2011 10:40
  8. Agree with this. Forever a Saint gets my vote on what ever flag we all agree on.
  9. Id be up for adding a few quid. Who would be the best person at the club to speak to for any kind of permission? Would it just be from TSW or is it worth trying to involve fans from other area's and message boards?
  10. I know his Dad. Naff all to do with the topic but thought I would contribute.
  11. You miss my point. Brighton should strengthen and will be a tough game for Pompey if they still exist. We will probably strengthen if we go up and will also be a tough game for Pompey if they still exist. And if Pompey don't get a take over before next season I doubt Chainrai will be too happy about funding replacements for all the players out of contract at the end of this season. He will have to decide on spending to keep them afloat or cutting his loses. There is a good chance there won't be a club let alone a squad so it could be a good season for us and a bad one for the blue few.
  12. Yeah I suppose if you have already done it for a cheaper price, why would you pay more to do it again??? Someone at SMS has got the numbers wrong it seems. I wonder if there will be spare slots that they were expecting to fill this year?
  13. Looks like a few south coast Derby's are on the cards next season then. Shame bompy have fallen away a little. But with Pompey looking like they will still be there, Brighton pretty much certain to go up and us with only relying on ourselves there are at least 4 matches that will mean something no matter where we finish. Will Brighton be able to improve their squad? Will Pompey have a squad? Will our squad get stronger? Can't wait!!
  14. So why has this been canceled? It's a bit odd that in a time of Naff all money for simple folk that they put the price up but I didn't think that would stop enough people signing up. I would still love to do it. Funds stopped me last year and same reason this year. Got too much to pay out for already. If it's the cost stopping people go I wonder if the club will re-evaluate it's prices given that they are losing out on a booking cause it's too steep? A business that prices out it's customers has no customers!
  15. Its only a guess but like you said, we were supposed to be bringing in players that could perform at the level above and to get those players I doubt they will all be on league 1 wages when they could get better above. So I wouldnt expect much of an increase in wages if we go up if I am way off the mark then I would be worried more as it would look like we are over spending to the point that it could get us into trouble in time to come. No need for the abuse from or to anyone IMO. Side dish of sarcasm is not so bad though.
  16. To be fair..... Some of the Janers are mongs and wouldnt take to kindly to any away fan being in the home end. Exeter seem to be able to appreciate a footy fan is sometimes no more than that. I worked in Plym for a while and the banter is fine most places but the few will always spoil it for the many.
  17. Dont think much of their ear lobes..... they can get stuffed!
  18. Now there would be a comparrison for spending within or without means.
  19. Could we already be paying championship wages to our league 1 players? If so there might not be as much of a rocket for salary's next season for our current squad and the extra revenue will ballance it out. If thats the case then its clear to see why this year is the deadline for getting promoted as I doubt any club sticking to a decent business model would budget for wages to remain based on the league aboves income for too long. The budget may have been to spend big to get us up 1 level and to compete there. Promotion 1st year would have been a bonus but promotion the 2nd year would be vital. A year in the Championship with the current squad and maybe a couple of additions would put us into the next phaze of possible spending to get us into the Prem and by then our 1st class academy would be starting to feed us a better stream of youngsters backed up with a few good signings. On paper it makes sense but in practice its not my money being played with and things hardly ever go as planned in football.
  20. Ah fair enough, makes sense although I now dont understand why such a big deal was made about publishing the accounts when we were a PLC under Rupes n Co? Still, could much of this be accounted by the pre Markus days? Or is it expected that more was spent at the biggining to get us back to a suitable level? The outgoings on bringing players in is allot less this year than last although we are expected to pay out allot on the training ground shortly so the next lot of accounts might not be pretty either? Promotion this year is the only way any extra spend can be justified as the revenue must go up quite a bit.
  21. If we as a privatly owned company dont have to declare this sort of innformation, could this just be the final declaration of the previous company? It would fit in with loans from directors and so on and also operating at a loss would fit too. The statements that we will not be run with debt when Markus took over could still stand true as all debts would have been wiped when he took over and the new books could look completly different. That said we have been spending money on getting players in more at the beginning to re-build the team and also spent on buildings and buses to make the place a nicer place to work n all that.
  22. Christ who rattled your cage? When most of the tickets went on sale it want the last away game of the season so there wasn't as much demand I suppose. I didn't think it would be a problem to pay on the gate like I have done every year so didn't think to do anything different. Seeing they are now sold out wasn't something I was expecting and I'm a bit gutted that I might not get a ticket. Not blaming anyone else though. Will just try and get a ticket via other means and hope I'm lucky. My work have connections there and as delldays said he can pop in and get home tickets so should be able to get a seat somehow.
  23. I didnt even think it would be a problem so not even tried yet! Living down this way I havent missed a us at Plym so now I am shafted! Will get working on anyone I know down here to sort me out!
  24. Ah brilliant, I forgot it was involving them down the road too. They have had some interesting times over the years. lol I might have to block Mack though as I am not familiar with reasoned argument from a skate.
