  1. From that link they can't even spell Southampton correctly!
  2. Maybe Puncheon was playing for a place in our squad? He knew the gaffer was watching and prob knows AOC will be gone by the end of the window. So it wouldnt be unusual to think he was putting in an effort for a shirt. Much more likley its for a move elsewhere but worth a thought. Final score 1-0?
  3. I didnt say it was easy or a reality. But it is a possability. Miles apart but Barca can do it so why cant someone else? Its not something that can happen over night and until we are considered one of the top clubs in the world you are right in that we would always lose players along the way. But NC's vision of where he see's the club is at the top, we have the finacial clout behind us (for the time being at least) to create something that wants to break the tradition of buying a place at the top with the most expensive players. By building it from the ground up. If we get promoted this or next season where will our sights be then? To break even by selling off our best players? Aim for survival every season? Or aim for the top half of the prem? Then aim for Europe place? Then aim for the top? Spuds will lose Modric to Chelsea as they are one of the top clubs in europe. In time I think we are aiming to be one of the top clubs in europe. Now it will be bloody amozing if we get anywhere near there but thats what the vision is and it looks like the drive is there to push hard for it. As for selling AOC to the highest bidder right now I agree with you. He wants out and has done his business via the press. If a club will offer what we want then he goes. Dont care if its Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool or Stenhousemuir. NC can play hardball though as long as he has the support of the Leibher family. AOC either gives 100% while he is here (nothing to suggest he hasnt so far) or he trains with the under 21's or below.
  4. If we manage to get to be playing in the champions league it means we would be one of those top clubs. Producing our own players from academy graduates shouldnt be a problem then as our youth would not be looking at other clubs as ssomewhere they could better themselves. Can we get there? Who knows but nothing wrong with aiming high. Prem is certainly possible and NC doesnt seem like he will be happy with prem survival every year so what you think is a dream I think is a possability. No need to wake up IMO. As a newly promoted Championship team its not surprising our players could get there heads turned though. I still think it stinks how the press and advisors have fueled it all though. He is worth far more to us than he is to Arsenal and we are due to lose out in one way or another by the lure of arsenal's reserves. When our 1st team was rubbish our reserves were beating arsenal reserves! Wenger doesnt like the Fabregas - Barca transfer being conducted through the press yet its a similar thing that happened to Theo and now Chambo and will no doubt happen again.
  5. Both comments could be twisted to suit or have many meanings though, At this point I feel I am ready. I am still young and I still have time to go into a Premier League set-up and learn. This could mean he knows he has plenty of time to get the right move or it could mean if he goes now he has plenty of time to learn. (I think the latter) I don’t expect to walk into the first team of any club by any means. I know I would have to basically start again, bide my time and, if a chance came, take it. He thinks he is ready for a top 4 club but doesnt think he is good enough. What does that do to his price? What does that do to his wages? It could be sensible but how many sensible players get massive contracts in their dream moves? Did Ronaldo join Man U happy to bide his time in the reserves hoping he might get his chance in the 1st team? Or did he walk in thinking he should be 1st choice? Wenger could read Oxo's comments and woder why he is worth so much? 1 season in League 1 and he is ready for a big payday and reserve team football. Great! Using the press like this stinks IMO. It doesnt show him as anything more than a money grabber and I think the influence is from people or someone close to him. I dont blame him for wanting to take his chances but pushing for changes while still under contract is an insult to the club that has got him to this stage and is the wrong attitude of common football players these days.
  6. Do you think he has a hope in hell of lasting an hour with the pinder??
  7. You have to admit that the 1st quotes seemed like half a story. Its more than possible that the rest of the story could of been that he is happy here n all that so nothing wrong with staying positive. The rest of the story seems to be out now and IMO even a line at the end saying he is happy here wouldnt of made a difference. He is pretty clear in wanting to cash in ASAP. I think he may have shot himself in the foot though as I doubt any clubs will agree to what NC wants for SFC.
  8. NC wont like these interviews at all IMO. If a club doesnt come in with a deal that is suitable to SFC then I can see Oxo back training with his youth team mates while people who want to play for Saints first team will get there chance. Its all well and good saying he wants to go or thinks he is ready to go but he has a contract and we are one of a few clubs who can afford to make him stick to his contract. With the atitude that these reports seem to give him I cant wait for him to be gone. I think our 1st team will be playing regular prem football long before Oxo is if he goes now. We finished last season strong without him and we have strengthened the team since. If Adkins does add a couple more then its even better for us. He wont be as much of a loss to us as losing Theo or Bale.
  9. A fair few IF's in this but I think its still fair to say, If he doesnt leave just yet and we do very well next season he could be part of a team that has won the battle back to the prem through 2 tough divisions. His recognition in this could be huge as its a very good achievement. Walcott is a good example as in the time its take for him to be established (still regularly subbed as Wenger trys to change things to win games) in that top 5 side he has done what exactly? A kid these days being billed as one of the next big things should be aiming to do better than Theo has IMO. Unless all they want is the riches without the recognition of course. Theo still hasnt reached the potential that Arsenal bought and while being a cracking player he still looks like he could be better. So what would Oxo's thinking be going to Arsenal? Knock Theo out of the team? Or Arshavin? Or Nasri? Is he that good yet? At least Theo had a spell in the championship to prepare him for life on a prem bench. Oxo hasnt even got that yet. As for Lowe taking any deal offered? He was once known for at least trying to get the best deal possible and 12 mil for Theo was the biggest fee ever for a kid of that age I think. Had he the funds at his disposal that NC has got he could of played even harder ball with buyers. I think his policy on letting any player go that doesnt want to be here and allowing every manager to bring in too much dross is worthy of a kicking but being robbed when selling a player is not IMO.
  10. If we somehow do the double promotion then he will be in the prem with a year left on his contract. SFC will either have to offer him some serious wedge (if he still looks like he is going to be amazing) or let him go. By then the next crop of youth will be coming through the ranks and the development side of SFC will be fully up and running. Things may look that much better for us by then that he may see a future with us? We could also be struggling by xmas and let him go in Jan. If he goes now or in Jan then I doubt very much he will get a game in the prem this season so he will get there no faster. He will just earn a bit more cash in the time between.
  11. Whaa Hooooo!!! Do I get a badge? :-)
  12. to be fair it could be that the mirror have got quotes from him but that is only half of them. they have a habbit of asking questions that lead to the answers they want. Mirror Halfwit: "Alex, do you think you are ready to play in the prem now?" Alex: "Yes, I its been fantastic to help Saints get promoted and I realy enjoy playing with them. I am happy to stay with them and push for promotion to the prem but now I feel I am ready to play in the prem so it should be a great season for me and perfect progression in my career." Mirror Halfwit takes the words he likes out of the convo and makes a quote. The headline says he begs to be let go but the quotes dont look like a beg. He has always been careful with what he says and has always been very respectful of his current situation so it would be suprising if he changes his stance now.
  13. Do you think the numbers have dropped cause of the mess over the last so many years or cause of the league your in? Regularly getting gates of around 15k (home support) can't be enough to fund anything spectacular which puts back to wondering what the new owners think they can get out of it all? I think our markus's intentions were more of a play thing to buy us but with an end vision of at least getting his money back should he want to walk away. Just makes me wonder what the ruskies think the future is?
  14. I heard Leicster have hijacked the press conference
  15. If they have had a re-think on their wage structure then there are a few players above Lawrence that I would of thought they would be trying to ship out. But then like the others why would a player want to move if he is getting paid more than he would elsewhere? Would many championship teams pay 20k per week for a player of that standard? Sven's mob seem to be the main people splashing the cash but cant think of any others right now? Even lower end prem would think hard about that outlay I think.
  16. Where do they get their info from? Is one of us drip feeding them incredibly stupid things to say? It only cost 7 mil for us to get a squad together and get some training ground issues sorted. It will no doubt cost more to get the rest of the training ground sorted and some more on topping up our squad but how much more would they have to spend to fill thier squad and actually buy a training ground? Do they just not think about anything they say?
  17. I can't see why Pompey would want to let Lawrence go. Didn't he do well for them last season? With this new take over the wages can't be an issue can they? I doubt we are going to be offering 20k Ish a week or what ever he is supposed to be on so can't see it happening. Can see puncheon going there though and with a bit of luck he will turn out the same as he has for all the other clubs. Starts well then fades away to be no more than an expense. Wonder if they think they will be getting around 19k for their first home game of the season?
  18. I think that is actually the most sensible post you have made on this whole thread! Maybe some of the debate on here has started to get through to you? If someone shacked up to dragons den with Pompey as the investment opertunity do you really think any of the dragons would be interested? With all the problems and debt that has been flushed through your club it just looks like an absolutely crazy investment that still has many more questions than answers. Have the ruskies suggested what any of their plans are? How much did they pay for the club? Why is Chainrai still listed at charter house? (whatever it is) Can Chainrai come back if the ruskies bail? Does Gaydamak still own the land around the ground? Do the ruskies intend to buy that land if not already? I dont see many of these questions getting asked or answered when the fans pop round Lampits for Tea and Cake. Only recently some of your fans have started questioning when the debts under £2500 will be paid. Thats something that should have been asked when the offer to sweeten the creditors was made. So many decissions and actions have been made in plain sight of the fans that sat back with a smile on their face lapping it all up when it suited. I dont think the Bestest fans was something your own fans dreamed up. It was more of how the press reported that despite all your clubs troubles your fans were still smiling and enjoying the ride. Something we find more amusment in rather than thinking anyone is better than anyone else.
  19. Admittedly far too many people went Wilde at first. That was in response to an anyone but Rupes campaign which in hindsight may have been better thought out. But at least we can look back at around 3 previous owners that while we might not like them very much, we can at least see they all tried to do whats best for the club more than whats best for themselves. The many people that did voice their concerns over Wilde were known as Lowe Luvvies and there was quite a few of them. He was found out though after he spent the money we had in the bank and we went through the mill a bit (nothing compared to your lot however) and have come out with what appears to be good owners and there are still people asking questions. My point isnt to make it look like we are super fans with the moral high ground others can only dream about. Its more of a question of how bad does it need to get down your end before your bestest fans in the world on mass start demanding a respectable club? All you seem to do is come on here and defend the actions of your club and glaze over the stinking pit the owners had left behind.
  20. Maybe it was just a test of the flush system in preperation for their toilet bowl arena?
  21. oooooosh
  22. Or 400,000 over the next 4 years if they are lucky.... ;-)
  23. I think Burley's problem was playing players out of position when they were obviously not comfortable with it, playing too many players out of position in the same game and most of all making crucial subs way after they were due and far too late. WGS played Fernades on the right and he loved it while Anders who liked the attacking mid field role for his country was played on the left and he stank. Each manager trys something, some things work and some things dont. Burley tried many things that didnt work and got beaten with many sticks because of it. Personally I would rather have a fast winger playing on the wrong side but most of their training would be on give and go and a bi-line cross with thier wrong foot. If they can get half decent at that then they will be effective. If they only cut inside (like Dyer used to) they will get found out.
  24. Didn't travel to Switzerland according to his twitter today. I am hoping reeves and doble do well. The latter must be wondering if he has a future with us or not. Always been an almost there IMO. Surprised forecast traveled at all. Let alone get a run out. Maybe there is a scout watching tonight looking for a tall player that wears gloves?
  25. Thanks for avoiding this Corp. As a side note you will notice that we were taken over by a stinking rich bloke who has an even more stinking rich family. Somewhere allot higher than the people that have been sniffing round your gaff. Now I am not saying that to rub it in. I am saying that because dispite being a stinking rich club on paper, many of our fans are Still wanting to know where the money is coming from! Still wanting to know if we are a club in debt or not! Still asking questions of those in charge as we dont want to go down the same route as we have in the past. All this is after spending a bucket load on coaches and developments behind the scenes, Training ground revemp including a nice shiney new buillding with state of the art equipment and tech, purchacing of some of League 1's top players and holding on (for the time being) one of the UK's hottest youth prospects despite the call of Arsenal being so strong n all. So things are looking pretty good for us yet we still want assurances. we still ask questions and we still have a vivid memory of how it all went so wrong. For you it seems no matter how wrong it all goes time and time again you are still very keen to jump into bed with anyone who shows interest. No questions asked and all smiles again. Many people have been mugged off by your club and you appear to be happy to sit back and let it all happen again without a care in the world.
