  1. Yeah I would agree with this, I suppose there is a small chance that the court cases will come back to bite the club but it wont make any difference to where they are. A fine will be my guess at most but the courts will go after those in the dock and so on for real punishments. The investigation is where problems for the club may arise. Even then the Ex directors will be the most worried but depending on how much or how little is found will depend on if the FL will get involved with the club. Previous cases will set the examples but there are not many with even close circumstances. If the investigation unwraps lots of dodgy dealings then the FL should come back with sanctions on the club that at least make it clear to other clubs what will happen if they try the same tactics. If there are not many examples of what to do then the FL will need to set an example for others to see. If it doesnt find very much then the ex directors will be the ones that cop it the most and the club will be looking at no more than a fine if at all.
  2. Some of his tricks are bloody brilliant. but some of them I have been doing to my kids for years. Coin on the shoulder and coin in the coke can for instance. I like his card tricks allot but could do without the stooged tricks.
  3. There really is nothing that a mac can do and a PC can't. PC's are available in a huge range of budget options and people often don't get the right kit for what they need. Mac's don't have as many options and come pre-made to do specific tasks. If you bought the correct PC to do a job that a specific mac would do, the prices wouldn't be too different. Marketing guy at work complains that his £400 dell optiplex at his desk doesn't do the same job as his £1500 mac at home. No sh*t Sherlock! If you want budget then a PC is the way to go but understand the limitations. If you want specific then go for a mac as finding a tech that can build the perfect PC to suit can be harder than walking into an apple store and buying a mac. Apple have got so rich through clever marketing making everyone think Mac's can do jobs that PC's can't. Along side the PC Market being flooded with under qualified tech's giving the wrong advice on what hardware is needed. Apple are miles ahead in the handheld tech though, iphone's, iPods, ipads's and so on are far better than the competition.
  4. I'm guessing after oxo getting injured a few players have 1 eye on the 1st game of the season. Pressure may be off but fitness and injury free must be higher on the priority list than beating yoville.
  5. Christ, is this thread still going? Its just a constant wind up trying to get people to boil over till some infractions are handed out. Im surprised there hasnt been any already TBH. There wouldnt be a problem if people kept within the law's of the land. If anyone doesnt like the law's of this land then surley they are welcome to look for a land that has law's more agreable with them? Thats not aimed at Travelers or Romany Gypsys particularly. Thats aimed at everyone. There are laws here that make me want to live somewhere else too. I would love to live in Australia and if I got the chance I would go there expecting to adapt and live under their law and their rules. If I tried to make my own rules and laws I would expect to find resistance from the locals. Would that make them racist?
  6. If they are travellers then staying put should not be something they would be considering. If it was there is a whole country to our west that they can occupy and stay put as much as they like. I'm not biting for the rest of it. Lol
  7. You mis-understood me. Making placecs available for them to go around the country means places that they can pitch up without having to break into private property or take over kids play parks. The rules I mean are that as travelers they should have a limit on how long they can stay at any particular place. Say an area is made available at various locations around the country, a stay limit of 4 weeks or something is put in place and rules to follow that mean the area is not turned into a dumping ground for stolen cars and builders rubble and so on. Travelers can come and go and travel up and down the country as much as they want. It seems a sensible idea to me. But someone telling the travellers where to go and telling there are rules to be followed means that many of them will go against the rules and do what they like anyway. Also the rubble and cars will turn up and the many skanks in the traveler comunity will ruin it for the few decent ones that just want to live a simple life where ever they can. They will also forget that they are travellers and stick around for years barley traveling at all. There is a large compunity of "Travellers" pitched up in Haldon Forrest near me and large parts of the forrest that has some beautiful locations have become no go area's ass thats where these "Travellers" live and where they have erected perminent structures to make there material possesions have a better home. Tree's have even grown back in the places that they gained access so their traveling vehicles are blocked in. Agree with the good and bad though. That doesnt need a car/van/house/shoes or anything to be true. And its always the bad that spoil it for the good.
  8. Brilliant! Although this is small change to some of their previous debts it at least shows they mean to carry on as they were so the fun can continue for us.
  9. I think it depends on who may be available to us. Connolly on form is a 1st team starter IMO but fitness has let him down so much he may need to be treated with kid gloves to get him through the season. He is our only striker with Championship experience too so an addition in the same form might be worth going for. Dont think we should be out trying hard to find a striker just yet though but wouldnt be surprised if we take advantage of a situation should it pop up.
  10. Ive seen a few groups of travelers that are actually OK. The scum bags that rob and cause havoc ruin it for the few that stand for what the lifestyle is supposed to represent. They tried taking over the zoo's carpark a few weeks ago right before our busiest period. Had they not been moved on our visitor numbers would of dropped and this year would of been a disaster. I am all for making places available for them to go around the country but there has to be rules for all to keep and there are not many of them that like playing by rules made by anyone else. Cant see a solution TBH.
  11. I dont get it with Puncheon. Something has happened and he is not part of our plans. But anyone who has seen him playing for the development side have always said how much he encourages his team mates and how proffesional he is. Seems like the perfect attitude to take in that situation and sounds like he is good to have around in that area. Why that doesnt transform into benifiting the 1st team is a mystery to me.
  12. LOL the home page of saints web had this thread at the top saying "QPR make Saints and offer for.... bender" made I chuckle anyway.
  13. I take it that is one of the under £2500 creditors getting fed up with waiting for their money while the club spunk money on new players and claim to have made £1m in profit last season. How long before more follow suit
  14. A big difference in all that is despite any debt Pompey built up, support remained for Peter Storrie. We were not even in debt when Lowe lost support from the fan base. The bank in our case could not see the fans supporting the club while Lowe was there and therefor could only see the debt getting bigger so pulled the plug. Harsh IMO but ultimately looking at where we are now things look allot better. Storrie convinced the creditors that the next windfall of money was always just round the corner and as the fans were still behind the team there was always an income to tide them over.
  15. What I was saying is that a relativly short time with bumper crowds is not enough for any owners to invest in a new stadium. Milan spent to get you up through the leagues and crowds increased. (as you would expect) 6 years in the prem with cash being splashed on some fairly high profile players wasnt enough to keep you in the prem or keep the crowds. IMO you needed to spend less on the playing staff but retain a fullish stadium for a few more years than that before any owner would seriously contemplate funding a new stadium. How many clubs have moved stadium and dropped a division soon after? I think we broke that routine in the short term but went down for other reasons in the end. So spunking a wad load of cash on a stadium needs to be done knowing the extra numbers are going to turn up to fund it even if times get tough. 6 years is obviously not enough to make it happen. So who is going to risk funding the team to push back for the prem and also fund say upwards of £50m on a stadium project when the long term history suggests regular support is under 20k? I agree that you would be in a better position if you had a ground that attracted the fans and gave ground to pfc on the 10k cause of the shiney new ground n all that. All I am saying is that its a catch 22 cause I doubt there are many money men ready to gamble that much on your club. I still question the game plan of the russians as rivals or not, your club doesnt seem like a very good investment so how do they plan to prove it is?
  16. Must be a bit of a catch 22 though. Owners spend on players to get the crowds in, once the crowds are in it justifys a bigger stadium. Its been pointed out a few times the numbers have been down at FP and that is even with some of the players you have had. Bubble burst before the stadium project got off the ground. The Dell was small but even when times were tough the support was there and seats were getting filled. We stayed up long enough to warrent the spend on a bigger stadium and only boardroom conflict really put us in trouble. You either need someone to speculate on your support increasing if you get a new stadium or a sustained stint at a higher level without spending big elsewhere. Either scenario is not pretty planning which makes the new owners motives a bit more questionable. They need to get bums on seats to pay the clubs way but they need to do it without spending an arm and a leg on the playing staff. High spending before didnt generate the level of support it warrented so its a tricky ballence.
  17. I agree completly. It would be best for him IMO to get a year at a higher level to what he has played and the jump to Arsenal would be good for him if it included some time in the Championship somewhere. Theo and Bale both had a stint in the championship although Theo could have probably done with some more. Its hard to say if missing that stint would harm his potential or not though so from his point of view securing a better deal at somewhere like Arsenal probably seems like the best thing to do. Its easy to sit here and see what we think is the best but from his position taking advice from those close to him its easy to understand why he wants to jump ship. Had our last season been in the Championship and he created as much of a fuss then Arsenal would be much more willing to stump up the cash. Someone at the end of the day will have to make a stand. Either Arsenal making the gamble or us making him stay or him working hard or having a sulk. He seems like what ever way it all goes he will put the right effort in so I guess a sulk will be out of the options. Head down and work hard from now on is my guess and let Arsenal or who ever make their move.
  18. Fair enough. 1st look suggests we would be better supported but the feel good factor would be better for us right now which attracts a few extra numbers. In reality we should be fairly evenly supported but football is a fickle sport so it varys allot. Not many years that its been able to be compared as closley as this season so it adds a little bit more spice to the rivalry in the right way. All things considered of course.
  19. 1 word = Pompey maths
  20. I have asked him on twitter if he can confirm that he had his medical on Friday morning or not. Prob wont get a reply but worth a go.
  21. As much as its nice to rant at the skate t@#t, his argument does make a little sense. I would go with our support being better than the skates for many of the reasons already mentioned. But its not something that can actually be compared when the situations of the 2 clubs are so different year in year out. This coming year however will give us a pretty good idea. Even allowing for the extra 10k just cause we have a shiney new stadium n all that, our average gates should be somwehere in the region of 25k to 30k. Take that 10k just cause we have a shiney new stadium n all that and we will be averageing between 15k to 20k. Now we have (cough) both been taken over and we are both aiming for mid to top half of the championship. So fairly comparably eh pfc? What do you guess your averages will be this season? Will be interesting to re-visit this one later in the season and of course allow for the variables of us being better supported n all that.
  22. Needs an appology from who exactly? i suggested it could be a clever guess that a medical was going on and stand by that. Meant no offence to sir woody as I have already said. Passing on ITK info so late that even the Echo could have announced it doesnt sound like exciting ITK news to me though.
  23. I would think that he would increase his pay to what it is now, but there is a deal on the table alegedly which could be as much as Arsenal would offer now. If Alex wants to tap into the mega bucks a top 4 club could offer he would surley need to prove himself worthy of getting into their 1st team? He might think he is ready and if Arsenal stump up somewhere in the region of £10m then I would guess it would not be to see him sit in the reserves. Thats the thing though, Arsenal want to buy him on the cheap now when they can pay low wages and if he reaches his potential then they would have saved themselves a fair chunk of cash. Alex would still need to reach his potential to dip into that mega bucks deal but would already be in the right team to do so. I bet Jack Cork thought he was on route to the mega bucks contract at Chelsea when he was 17 to. I think there are so many variables in this that loads of situations are morally right when broken down. But unless someone has a crystal ball and can see any particular outcome its impossible to know what the right thing to do is. Personally I think he should do a season in the championship then go into the prem. Any deal he might get with us or anyone else should include either a loan to a championship club or a release clause if a prem club comes knocking or something at the end of next season.
  24. Impatient? Christ you really are a numpty. You post more crap time after time slating an opinion in some cyber look at me trying to get the better of someone on the internet kind of thing. You have basically said the same as what I have said but tried to suggest I am talking bol locks. Its laughable to think you are actually argueing against my posts. Keep em coming sunshine
  25. I am not sure the current squad is capable of promotion this season. There were quite a few games last year where they struggled and life will be tougher now. But I think an assessment will be made over the 1st half if the season while considering that the people brought in last season were supposed to be in mind of being able to cut it in the championship too. We still need to add to the defence IMO and would be surprised if we don't. But I'm confident we have a team that can compete at this level and should be looking towards a playoff place as a target. I do think financially we are in a position where we can afford to play hardball though. If it looks like we need the money then we are more likely to cave in. But current situation gives the impression that us caving in is the last thing that will happen. IMO
