  1. There is no point in having a dig at those that cant make it week in week out or cant afford to to spend loads in the megastore. Alp's has a point IMO. Those in the board could probably afford stumping up the kind of figures that have been quoted without it putting a dent on there lifes. But it would be a positive move in terms of getting the fans through the gate with a smile on there face knowing Rupes is out of pocket. He would probably get the money back in bonus' anyway as with higher numbers we would get more revenue which means less cuts and a possibly stronger position in the transfer market. I know this wouldnt mean we could go on a spending spree but it might make the difference in wages when trying to get someone or even keep someone. There are as many of us ready to have a dig at Rupes as there is ready to have a dig at Alps. I will hold my hand up and admit that every time I see Alpine has started a thread I am expecting negitive coments that we have heard a thousand times by many more than Alps. If this thread had come from someone else I reckon many more would be ready to entertain the idea.
  2. I agree when its just aimed at 1 person but the board as a whole hae got a long way to go to redeem themselves in many of the fans eyes, so something like this even if it was only a 1 off or 1nce a month would would show the fans that the board are in it with us and not against us. How about if the attendances are on average over 22,000 in a calendar month then each board member stumps up the cost of a season ticket. That would equate to more money through the turnstyles and a few K extra from the board. It can only be a good thing for the club when we are without cash.
  3. fair point TBH. Something most of the boys at the top could think about. wont happen though as the risk of gates constantly being over 22000 would mean he would be working for free. Not sure how your finances are but I doubt there are many that can afford to work for free at the mo. Something along the lines you suggested though would go down a treat if it got more people in the door and showed that ole Rupes is doing something to help the club that we can all see.
  4. TBF I have had the benifit of the replay and he missed the ball by the smallest of margins. Had he made contact the ref would have done nothing but awarded a throw in or corner. The speed he ran in at made me think even before he slid in that he was on a man hunt rather than going for the ball but in the end I thought it was a fair tackle that was mistimed. Yellow card for not making contact with the ball and a word in his ear to make sure he keeps his head would have been more that satisfactory IMO.
  5. You serious? With Our home support? IIn a normal situation I would agree with you but with our home support as it often is I would have thought there is a lot less pressure on younger players when playing awayofrom SMS. Our fans are far too quick to Boo and jeer at a team, that although might not be doing all the right things, they are trying bloody hard to produce some good football. Jan needs to sort out the defence and I dont mean just the back 4!!!! When we attacked QPR got numbers behind the ball and cut down our space which often meant we didnt get that many clear cut chances. When QPR attacked they often carved us wide open because the people who tracked back left spaces all over the place and the defenders were pulled out of position. The defensive issue is a whole team issue and is allot bigger task than blameing Olly for being a rookie or having no experience. I can wright off the last 2 goals because we were trying to get back in the game and with 10 men we were bound to leave more gaps. Olly making a tackle in the RB position just shows where we were leaving gaps. He was unlucky to get the red IMO although I can see how the ref felt it was warented. But how many times did QPR cause us problems from that position? QPR's midfield had the time and space to play the ball down the channel and into lots of space. Our defending needs to come from our midfield coming back and getting into the right positions to try to limit this from happening. Also we have Dyer who has pace to burn but cant get into these positions at the other end of the pitch? I know he was playing most of the time on the left and his left foot is as much good as a 50 pence piece. But IMO he is the one player that doesnt have the control to have the ball played to his feet. Give him something to run onto and he could be utterly fantastic for us. He is a simple player that needs simple tactics. I believe Morgan can put the ball anywhere in the park within a few feet so a 30 yard pass towards the corner flag would give dyer about 15 yards of space to beat there defence. This would drag the opostions defence out of position and create the space needed for our flare players in the middle. In all these problems can be sorted out and with the squad available. We have the skill we just lack the execution.
  6. gutted about the scoreline but was impressed with some of our play going forward. we managed to carve them up at times but the deciding factor was they had players in defence that could handle most of our attacks. I know we were a man short for most of the game but when ever QPR attacked I could see them scoring and if it wasnt for Kelvin being in a different class then they would have been into double figures. i hope we can find a defence out of our squad that can manage to limit the opositions chances or all our quick attacking play will count for absolutly nothing.
  7. Im sure that line has been used in the past and most recently it was used for Theo. Not sure if the rules have changed but I cant see them signing him for 4 years if its against the rules???
  8. Boom boom!!!
  9. suppose your right but we have been doing it at a much lower level and at a much younger age. Allot of time and effort gets spent on turning young kids potential into a reality so it just feels like more of a kick in the nuts when these players leave for very little. I would have thought that the kids we are tieing down to long term contracts now will either become something decent and go for a fee worth taking or be giving the rewards of a decent contract should they want to stay with us. Kind of take a small long term contract with us now and if you make it you will be rewarded with a decent team coming after you or a much better contract from us when we can afford it. Seems the powers that be are putting a 2 year timeline on our success as these kids will only have a year to run on there contracts at that time. If we are getting somewhere then we will be in a position to offer something better but if we are not we will be looking at cashing in and changing direction.
  10. Not sure if this is a good thing or not as I havn't seen much of him but if he is ear marked as 1 with a bright future this should at least secure us a decent fee should he progress and becomes saught after. I dont like this kids getting so far with us and then being tempted away leaving us with little compensation so long term contracts for the better ones must be a good idea? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=10576
  11. So 2 out of 3 of Bens usernames have been banned? blimey he is doing well. lol
  12. Not ideal but we should all know we wont be relying on Killer all season. After his last game he has proberly tried a bit too hard to push himself back tohis best and he is feeling it in his knee. Its the right decission to take him out of the action to make sure his knee can fully recover. If he can get through this season then I expect him to be more of a centre pin next season when his leg is back to full strength. As for cover I expect Cork and Perry to start with maybe Olly on the bench although he has only recently returned from injury so he still may not be ready himself. Killer may have his work cut out to get back in the team as I think cork and Perry may make a good partnership.
  13. I agree with this and the only reason I havent suggested leaving out killer before is because i think he more than anyone will think he didnt have a good game and he more than anyone will be working hard to right the wrongs witch will be enough to get a starting place in the team barring injury. based on all the games we have played so far this season I still think we are 1 expeienced player short of a really good team but like I said before there are very few I would drop for the experienced players we have at the club. Im sure JP can see this and previous line ups suggest he is only looking at 1 or 2 positions that need to be tinkered with. Otherwise he is trying to get the team to play to there strenghts. If they can add the finishing touch then all the build up play will look fantastic.
  14. For a young team I dont think the ballance is too bad TBH. Only problem position IMO is the right wing, as others have said maybe white and patterson are not quite ready for week in week out action and there skill will only be seen in flashes. Trouble is we havnt got someone experienced that can do a good enough job there either. Anyone we have for that position has faults be it expeirience, speed or skill. Dyer is probably the closest to solving the right wing problem but he still needs to learn to pass and go and he hardly adds a wealth of experience to the team. I do think we need an older head further up the pitch and maybe Euell in the hole is the answer but again as others have said I cant see who I would drop to make that happen. As long as we are creating the chances we have a fighting chance that the finishing touch will start to click and we will start putting games out of reach before the final mins. I am fully prepared for inconsistancy though and except that many results will not go our way for this very reason. Safty is what I am after this season and i do believe we can achive it without a sweat on the final day.
  15. Someone had to ruin this thread with a sensible post :crazyemotefacethingy:
  16. Back on topic I had Lallana then McGoldrick then Svennson as I think llana has had a better alt round impact and McGoldrick has stolen 1 of his goals. Fair play to David though which is why I put him at 2. Killer is my number 3 purly for the fact that he has made it back and he deserves all the plaudits he gets. Think the last game was just a bad day at the office for him and there will be no-one trying harder to put his faults right for the next game than himself.
  17. Are you the promotion team for that site? If so can we expect every post you put on here to have the typicle OS spin that states the obvious and bigs up what it wants us to hear? Just asking ;o)
  18. Personally I think we will pick up a few more points away as the lads wont have as much pressure on them. If the home support want to put more pressure on them then I can see them getting more and more hacked off when results dont go our way. The kids need to relax and slowly the results will come. If we are picking up points towards safty away from home then Lowe wont bow to the fans pressure and will keep JP until he diecides there is a better alternitive.
  19. I didnt think he had a great game but he was among many others that were in the same boat. The penalty was a split decission that he made and it went the wrong way for him. He will learn and it was a harsh lesson but we had a few exerienced players giving away pens last season so it cant just be blamed on youth. His face at half time looked to me that he was gutted to be off as he didnt have a chance to put things right. He maybe felt he was the scapegoat for the team not preforming up to scratch. No doubt JP will let them all know that they win as a team and fail as a team and no-one will be singled out. White will get other chances and will be ahead of dyer as long as he can pass round players.

    Killer!

I think if he wasnt the captain he would have been replaced at half time by Cork. he is usually good in the air and wins most balls into the box but today was out jumped time and time again. several last ditch tackles in the box were the result of killer not dealing with the ball in front of the box. killer being the man he is will probably realise this and I think his knee will be up for a a real test in the next 2 weeks as he will push himself harder than ever to make sure he is more effective next match. On form he would be 1st on my team sheet but today he wasnt at the races and I would have been happy to see him replaced.
  21. I felt sorry for white today. i think the occasion and being on TV got the better of him. maybe a few run outs from the bench to get his confidence up might be in order.
  22. I thought he did ok in some of his game today but cant believe that the old problems he has are still there and no-body has picked up on them and trained him to play to his strenghts. when out on the wing a simple 1, 2 pass will see him at the by line with no defender in sight and a great chance to stick the ball in the box. But instead he runs into the defender and its pot luck on him getting past with the ball. He did well when he came inside and linked other players and did very well to play McGoldrick in at the end which just makes his failings all the more frustrating. his 1st touch let him down a few times but he has hardly played in the last year so can be excused due to rustyness. Someone give me an hour with him on the training pitch and I think I could turn him into 1 of our most dangerous players!!!

    The Ref

I thought he had a good game personally but it did seem that when he made a mistake it went againsts us so maybe thats where he got the critasism. As for Blackpool timewasting!!!! They started that within the 1st minute of the 2nd half so surly should have had something done about it by the end of the game. That said though we lost due to allot of poor passing and being dragged out of position. Not because of what the ref did or didnt do. I lost count of the amount of times we needed to keep the ball and lost it. That is obviously our strength which can snuff out the opositions threat but it is also our biggest weekness when we dont get it right. Players will learn and officials will have worst games than this.
  24. gutted. absolutly gutted. I suppose I expected more of them but such as life. they will do better in other games and maybe playing on tv got the better of a few of the youngsters. Blackpool deserved the win today though.
  25. anyone got any ideas on who may be out of the door to make way though? Not heard of any interest in Euell or Skacel which would be the 2 I think most of us would accept to leave.
