  1. knew someone would say that. lol
  2. An interesting thing happened this morning, After dropping my kids off to school i was driving away and coming from the other direction was some guy in a Mazeratti with a private number plate. As I passed him I thought that this guy was the spitting image of Jason Dodd. Thinking back a few years to the FA Cup game where we stuffed the spuds I went for some food at Popadom Express and JD was eating at a table a couple away from ours. As we left someone pointed out a Mazeratti to me saying it was JD's. So now im thinking that there is a guy in Torquay that looks like JD driving a car that I know heJ used to have. I cant remember the number plate from that long ago so I am thinking its just a coincedence but thought it might be worth doing some digging just to satisfy my curiosity. I phoned my wife as i know my son has a mate in the same class that has said his old man has got a fast car so I wondered if this was the same chap. Turns out it is but she doesnt know the kids surname so no nearer on knowing if its him or not. In all honesty it probably is not him and I dont think it matters if it is him as im not going to turn up on his doorstep asking the same questions he has probably been asked a million times. Just think its interesting that living down here in the arse hole of England and a Saint turns up practically on my door step. lol. So the info I am after is either: Does anyone know if JD is still living in the southampton area or if he moved down this way and/or does anyone know what any of his numberplate is? If anyone knows the numberplate can they PM me it or some of it please? Dont think it should be put on the main board so a PM would be great. Thanks
  3. awww diddems
  4. to be fair Morgan was 50-50 to play so it might have been the plan to get him off early anyway
  5. I can understand Dyer going out on Loan as out of the 3 main possible situations that can come of it, 2 of them would benifit us but im as confused as everyone else as to why we have brought in a striker that Jan wanted to sign for his dutch 2nd division team and 1 that cant get into SU's team. We have 1 strikers position, Our midfield cant keep the ball, our full backs lack defensive qualities and our CB's lack speed. Dish Chotall Footchball ish crayzsy.
  6. Shhh talking sence on this board is banned.
  7. Can Jake play the 1-2 pass?
  8. I was wondering that too. If I win tonight and buy the club I still wouldnt be able to throw enough money at the club to get us where we want (due to the wife not letting me spend the lot) so would I be deemed as a saviour or another wannabe like we have had for the last decade?
  9. Maybe there wasnt the interest in him in the window and rather than letting him go for bugger all they signed him for a few more years. Thinking behind it may have been his tallent will come good and he will be worth more money. He was meant to be a hotter prospect than walcott when they were younger. He obviously hasnt come good yet and maybe going out on loan will sort him out. e will either get back a better player or get a better fee for him or get him back as is and will have saved some money in the process. Seems like a good idea to me based on the above but not such a good idea based on skacel not playing and holmes injured. Maybe Skacel will get a game or 2 if he goes?
  10. I think he "could" be a pretty good striker. He has shown in the past that he can score goals and he has the speed to get behind the defence and cause them problems. Working on timing and not getting caught offside should be something that can be coached to anyone down to my daughters school team and it only amazes me that he has either not been coached it or not learnt from the coaching. If he cracks that then he could be pretty good. Hammil although tallented doesnt have the brain to make the most of his tallents. I could play on the wing, get the ball, run at people and do just as well as him by losing it every time and i could also have a strop because its everyone elses fault. So for me BWP has a better attitude which just about swings it in his favour IMO
  11. haha I knew someone would ;o)
  12. As players I would rather have BWP because I still think he has more potential but I wouldnt have him anywhere near the wing so on that basis I would choose Hammil. Wrong question to ask though as it is designed to just get the answer you want to hear. How about Bart in goal or McGoldrick?
  13. No point in getting into this argument but when Lowe was given the boot the finances were set up to have a steady income from the payments of the likes of Walcott and the deal that took Bale to Spuds was a similar thing. While Lowe was gone a gamble was made to get us back to the Prem which failed and left us without a pot to P in. We were told money was available and we dont need to sell blah blah blah then it appeared the Theo deal had been cashed in while we had "no need to sell and money was available" So Rupes using that to have a dig while being very childish and doesnt ultimatly get anyone anywhere, he did have a point. When he came back he obviously realised the finances are worse than what was hoped and has had to do what he had a dig at Crouch for. I bet it was the last thing he would have wanted to do as he knows he would have looked like a complete muppett but if it was what was needed then he cant really be beaten because of it. Didnt the early settlement cover the remainder of the payments? I would be surprised if it cancels out any sell on clauses that any transfer would have.
  14. I dont think we have much choice either although I would drop DMG ahead of anyone right now as I dont think his attitude is right since losing his lone striker role. I would be happy to play Dyer on the right wing but give him strict instructions to play nothing more than pass inside then run like fook. if he gets to the ball cross it in then track back. I would tattoo it to the inside of his eyelids, Pass, run, cross, back. at least 20% of the time it would end in a cross into the box where John/Peckhart/BWP and the support of Lallana would have a chance of grabbing something. Scakel on the other flank would be fantastic as he can do the above and also has the skill to beat his man when needed but it doesnt matter if its the club or him that keeps him out of the side. He is not there and thats that. We are definately missing the width and we do have 1 or 2 players that could provide it.
  15. Jan is in charge of the team? Did I miss something? I thought you have said that was Rupes job? I like the way you are comparing jan to Pearson when Jan has had half as many games of which 2 have been won. How many games did we win under Pearson? Truth be told Jan and Pearson have completly different tasks and pressures and who knows how each would cope in each situation? I liked Pearson, I liked how he seemed to get the team working harder. But I also like Jan for accepting the financial situation as it is and working with what he has got. I like what he is trying to do and only hope that the players can get to grips with it. I really like his honesty when being interviewed. If he was nothing more than a yes man Rupes would do his nut every times jan opens his mouth. 1 more thing...... Why ....Do .....You ....Need ....To .... Put ....So ..... Many ....Full ....Stops ....In?
  16. Good assesment IMO. Gillet has gone a little Awol recently but the rest have been missing due to injury and james is missing those players. I have said that at full strength with the kids we should get enough results to go safe but without them we dont have the players capable of filling in. Dyer needs a better 1st touch and learn the simple things again, BWP and McGoldrick are no wingers.
  17. Personally I think your off your head. No-one is suggesting that Saints are not interested in the Carling Cup and in all fairness that is something that us fans say when getting knocked out of any cup. Had we won we would start talking about great cup matches and how it would be nice to win some silverware. you haven't explained how you think our team is being hung out to dry either. true enough the team that played were outplayed by a team 2 divsions lower than them. But half of those that played were 1st team regulars last season and should have known better than to only show up for a 20 min spell. i agree with you on the confidence thing and if they could string a few wins together there confidence would grow and we could see more from them because of it. but they are still far from being hung out to dry. They have been given a chance to play 1st team football and to develop as players. This is something that they wont get anywhere else due to the old pros flooding teams. Maybe the balance is not right and maybe we are missing a few key players (the ones we are missing are kids to mind) but they are all we have got. they are not playing to make an example like redcrap did with the kids. they have been give the chance to shine and when things are not going right they need guidence and support rather than blame and tantrums. jan tells it how it is and will point out when players make mistakes and latly has pointed out when players are not putting the required effort in. but he also gives these kids a chance because he knows they will make mistakes and he knows they have a lot to learn. Its something they have to come through together as there is no option of bringing the old guys back and let the kids sit it out. If they can get through it and turn the corner they will be stronger because of it. In the mean time get off there backs and let them know when they are doing good and except that they will fook things up from time to time. SMS is hardly a place to go and build confidence at the moment with an over half empty stadium and fans that are ready to vent there spleins at the slightest cok up.
  18. Only thing I disagree with that is the next season bit. If revenue doesnt improve we will have to sell off more silver than we hoped to keep the bank happy. I think the plan was the team would be good enough to produce exciting football that people will want to come and watch. The poor results and the annoyence that people have with all things going wrong at the club is down to Rupes is keeping people away. If the team can bag a few wins together and get some confidence back and some players back from injury then they may turn the tide and draw a few more bums on seats. IMO we need nearer 20,000 for home matches for us to be in a position next sumer where we dont "Have" to sell.
  19. Yeah Rupert Lowe you smelly evil child eating thingy you. Get back in the dressing room and go over your tactics with the boys again and this time dont tell them to play crap or get injured. While you there explain to them what approach football is cause im sure you will know it better than any manager you and the board ever put in place. Jan will be a good boy and sit at the computer looking at 2 dutch blondes and a donkey while you manage the line up and polish the kids boots.
  20. Sounds to simple but I think it does have allot to do with our current state. The defence need the midfield to keep the ball better and when the above were all in we were doing that allot more. Still needed a bit of work but at least when we had the ball we looked dangerous going forward. The backups to these players are either injured themselves or not used to playing in these positions so its hardly surprising things seem to be going so wrong. I am all for this system of bringing the kids in and turning them into a fast attacking team. Arsenal do it year in year out. But what Arsenal have that we dont is a full team of experienced players that have already been through this system and have stepped up to the next level. We have 1 team and no backup and the injury jinx will cost us again.
  21. At the start of the season they were all buzzing and full of confidence and could hardly misplace a pass. Yes we were done by poor defending (by the whole team) and corrections/coaching needed to be done to get rid of that. A couple of injurys and we lacked the players that had the ability to put these things right so we turn out for a few bad results. Now all of a sudden we are finding it very difficult to pass to our own team when this should be our main stregnth. dThis is the time that the older heads inthe team should be guiding the youngsters and making sure they dont panic pass. Get things simple and pass it between defence and midfield letting the attack create some movment and we can build from there. This is where I think Jan really needs to get things right. Its not the constant shuffle of the youth all over the park but the right choice of an older head and in the right place. Wooton should be that older head but even he has been mis-placing passes and not having the right effect on those around him latly. I never thought I would say it but Euell seems like he could be the player missing that would help guide the kids in the middle of the park. Obviosly he is injured and I dont think we have anyone else to fill that role. Maybe some of the kids are now expecting to play and have lost some of the urgency they had at the begining. There really isnt much compitition for places right now apart from up front. But if the service isnt there then the forwards havnt got much chance to compete for the place/'s. If McGoldrick gets dropped at least we know Jan is seeing what we are seeing and even better if he changes to a 4-4-2 while we wait for some of the injurys to recover we IMO become harder to beat. I will be amazed if Jan gets the axe as from where I am sitting he is trying to do what he can do within the boundrys that have been set. Time for the team to settle down and do the simle things right.
  22. Im with you there. Out of the bottom 3 at the end of the season and I will be a happy chappy
  23. I dont think BD is the answer and I dont really want Another manager change. Given time the kids will learn to do what is asked of them and I personnaly think we shall see some good times. However if we were to change managers I would be happy if a standard 4-4-2 manager came in and steadied the ship as I dont think we have enough of the time we need to achive the above. At this rate if we survive this season it will be a miracle. A couple of wins on the bounce could see a complete change of direction by most on here though so this is all far too early
  24. I am pretty sure it was something to do with high wages and Pearson not wanting to take a pay cut which would work out as Lowe and Wilde trying to do something for the benifit of the club. but of course not, it was all down to getting one over on the other shareholders and people at the club as his master plan was to come back and wind us all up while taking us out of businuss. cause he will be happy if his shares are worth nothing and the polulation of southmpton hates him even more.
  25. I saw them in my local sainsburys last year and turned into a little kid lol. Growing up they were always on TV and I loved them (how sad is that?) The embarressing thing in sainsburys was when I started doing all there catch phrases like "ooooh I could crush a grape" and " Rock On Tommy". They looked at me like I was mental and it wasnt till I got in the car that I realised that they were not there catch phrases!!!!!! Made my day seeing them though lol
