  1. please tell me you got a link????
  2. wtf just happened?
  3. I agree with everything except the last bit but maybe just more resigned to getting on with things as they are in the mean time. I dont like it but cant see an alternative that would sort the mess out. Im not sure why but I just cant see Crouch making the cuts and changes needed to cope with the situation with no investment but I can see him being a bit more pro-active in trying to secure it. He is still a shareholder however so there is no reason why he cant continue to try and secure it. He would have the same hurdles had he still been the man at the top being that Wilde and Lowe would have to agree to any suggestions.
  4. Its difficult to compare the 2 as things were very different back then and I agree that if we had the stadium then we would have filled it. so why didnt we get the stadium to suit? For as long as I can remember we have struggled and the FA cup win we were the underdogs but comparing our good times from back then to the last 4 years then I can see your point but the years preceeding that I still think our times were better than the past due to the competition being so much stronger. We have made massive achievments while under Lowe but even bigger mistakes and failings. Still to the point I think if Lowe was gone now without a serious money man buying him and the others out we would be in a slightly worst position but I would be more worried about administration.
  5. Its well documented as to why WGS left by the man himself. Adamantly Anti Lowe people choose to suggest it was all very sinister and they continue to believe it. Personally I think there may have been more too it but WGS has stated as fact it was nothing to do with Lowe so how can i call him a lier? During Lowes tenure the Saints have reached there highest league position in the prem, moved to a 32,000 seater stadium (not much use right now) and reached the FA cup final. All 3 are very much positive things that have happened yet Anti Lowe posters choose to believe we have done nothing but go down hill. I am kind of with you on the club being attractive but as a supporter I do favouratise the good in the club and can see why I think everyone should be a part of it. unfortunatly it will take allot of money and work to get the positives out of the club. Just getting to the prem is not good enough and as such perspective buyers would be looking at the chances of buying us and getting us into europe positions year on year to get the most out of their investment. On that basis we are not as attractive due to the ammount of work that is needed to be done. 20 million investment into the team wouldnt gaurentee prem football let alone european football. the kind of investor you are talking about buying the club would be someone that is more interested in what else he/she can get out of southampton rather than an interest in the team so it would be debateable if there interest in us would be long term. As for the youth team we have right now there is not much we can do about it as there are not the funds available to change it. I think some mistakes have been made in not bringing in players for the right positions but I put that down to the manager thinking we need to be stregnthened in other areas 1st. The only option I think we have at the moment is to support the team and hope that this policy works well enough to put us in a position where we are an attractive proposition to a wider audeince. We are too close to administration and beyond for anyone serious to come in and stump up the cash. clear some of the debt and finish in a respectable position and we will look a whole lot different.
  6. IMO your talking absolute kak!!! How many supporters were at the last game of every season over the last 15 years? I suggest its been near enough sell out year on year no matter who is on the pitch, stands or dug out. Lowe was also about during our most successful spell since we won the FA cup and the gates were huge. I agree that not many people liked him even then cause he was still a pompus kock but it didnt stop people buying a ticket and going to matches. The argument about Lowe has been the same for years but until someone buys him out anything we do will just damage our club further. The club is for sale but its not an attractive thing to buy at the moment. Someone with money will look and think we are a CCC club that are in danger of going further down with a small fan base that have no patience. Looking at Newcastle they are a Prem club with a huge fan base that will respond to anything positive. get used to Lowe being here and try to at least support the club in the mean time.
  7. Good point TBH but even recently Sturrock said that he left for his own reasons rather than being forced out. you would think after all that time he may have dropped 1 or 2 hints as to why he left but still sticking to what he said back then. I would have liked to see him get more of a shot but yet again the press hounded him as he wasnt deemed to be a prem manager. Had a different chairman at another team given him the chance Im sure he would have had better support. his results were better than WGS's in the same amount of games.
  8. It goes to show that with the right manager the sports science can be a benifit. Bolton had many aging players doing well beyond there years which must have kept there over all spend down in todays massivly over inflated transfer fee's and wages. we had the main man for the sports science approach and bagpuss. all of a sudden the flaw becomes clear lol
  9. In fairness Lowe is doing what an Administrator would be doing but maybe trying to hold out for better prices where an administrator would sell for anything so you do have a point. but Wilde had a go then left things to the other muppets who then got booted out for Crouch to have a go who spent any remaining cash we had for wilde and lowe to come back and have another go. maybe Lowe is not the best public face and wildes face is not exactly too welcome either but with them and crouch being the major shareholders they are our only feasable choices. When lowe was originally being ousted I thought the best situation would be for all 3 to put there heads together and work as a team as we would have the experience in lowe passion in crouch and wilde must bring something to the table i just dont know what. this IMO at the time would have given us new direction and a sound platform to bounce back. the swapping and changing has been farsicle and helped at no time in trying to get us back up to where we belong.
  10. Was he brought in because of his skills in Rugby though? And thinking about it he employed coaches to coach the rugby and he managed the team from a nice little room with a view so had he got anywhere near our 1st team it would have still been from a distance. As radical as it may have been I think he could do a job in football but could never see him as a touchline manager. This IMO is the biggest flaw with lowe. He fell out with the press so much that anything he tried to do was swamped in the papers and made to be a laughing stock. he brought so much bad press it made us look stupid. Had the wigan chairman brought in SCW with a view to using his skills and building a managment team around him the press would have looked at it differently and given him allot more backing.
  11. on the last point there are a few utter nutters that support Lowe like he created the world and there are also a few of the same that are in the complete oposite camp. there are many inbetween that try to look at things objectivly. Lowe IMO is not the monster that some make out but he is far from being the great one and could do with finding a replacement rather than trying to prove he was right all along.
  12. yeah of course like Wilde did well at it and Crouch did well at it and everything became rosey just because Lowe wasnt around!!! I said before I am all for Lowe being gone and would like to add Wilde and Crouch and any of the current main shareholders. I appreciate there efforts over the years but would love for someone else to come in and have a go. Problem is who is going to replace them? Just someone from the board and we will be going in the same direction fast. Someone else and they need to bring some money with them. So like it or lump it we are stuck with things the way they are and can only hope the board and team get things right enough to improve the whole situation.
  13. I know I dont live in the area anymore and I havent been able to afford to go to the games for a long time but even if I lived back in Southampton my current financial situation wouldnt let me go to every home game and i guess there are many others in the same boat. I wonder how many listeners the Solient gets now adays compared with how many when we had a full stadium week in week out? I doubt the stay away fans have given up supporting the saints completly so those in the area probably listen on the radio instead?
  14. Exactly! If this thing with the kids is going to work it will take a long time for the fans to buy into it. If they were instantly successfull then the stadium would have allot more people in it singing about how our kids are better than other teams stars. The thing that makes me laugh is there are plenty of people that would rather see us go into administration which would end up with the same people being in charge and a team full of kids. If someone with money comes in to buy the club I will be truely happy but until then I will carry on hoping that we get enough points on the board to stay up. Any places higher than relegation will be a bonus. Couldnt give a toss if lowe still has shares or not in the mean time.
  15. Dont mind seeing the back of him but we saw the backtof him once before and the gates were hardly over run with the fans that were staying away were they? gates are low because we dont look like we will be going very far this year. simple as. The banks are probably happy dealing with him as they know he will make decissions that we dont like and thus save a few quid here and there. It doesnt look like he is doing the role that Wilde can do as whe he was the main man we spent money left right and centre on dross that got us further into the kak pit. Interfering with the team selection? If you mean saying that certain players cant play because it will cost too much then fair enough. Im sure there are chairmen up and down the country telling there managers that they cant buy this or that player because they will cost too much. Only difference is we are paying the wages for the player all ready. But if you mean Lowe is picking who will play where then I think you are deluded. To pick the team you need to be taking the training sessions, assaesing the fitness, testing formations. From where I stand it looks like the Management team are doing that rightly or wrongly, but they are the ones doing it. Not Lowe. When has Lowe Blocked us getting in an experienced Full Back?????? TBH I havnet seen us linked with one at all in the transfer window. We heard about the players we did get and out of those only Cork can play Full back. The full back problem IMO is down to the managment team thinking what we have is good enough. They think we need to strenghten in other areas and they have. A costly mistake IMO. Who knows what would happen had Skacel been sold???? Would that have released funds for an axtra player? As the midfield players had been brought in would the next department been the full backs? no-one knows so its purly guess work. The attmosphere from the last match last season was down to it being our last game of the season and we still had a chance to stay up. I wonder how many people go just so they have a chance to storm the pitch at the end? Its been the same on every last match of the season for god knows how many years so not having Lowe about had nothing to do with it. Im all for Lowe being gone and would support any realistic way of getting rid of him but sometimes we need to take stock of what is actually going on and be realistic about what we can actually do. The club need money and in that sense it needs fans to turn up as much as possible. If the 15 supporters who wont step foot in SMS while Lowe is there turnd up it wouldnt make a blind bit of difference. We need the fans that go to watch a good game of football back and to get that we need our team to be not so easy to beat. Being so young they have allot to learn in that department so its not going to happen over night. Last but not least the main reason IMO that we have low gates is cause people are more skint now than they were last year. Only 12 months ago people were still talking about the house market might crash, the bubble may burst. Yet people were still borrowing and spending as if nothing was wrong. How many now are keeping hold of there cash and limiting there spending? We are all taking a hit and if the club want more people in the door then the only way they will get it will be if they reduce the prices to suit the people that probably do still want to come. It wont do as imuch good to the bank balance but it will do allot to help the atmosphere in SMS.
  16. Not sure what the excuse was then but we could take our pick from Still not fit forgotten we still pay him needed for saturday (hahahahahahahahahaha) too old not needed at all and probably plenty more excuses
  17. Skacel must be fit again so must be worth a shout. although the excuse will probably not match fit. Will be gutted if Morgan is not available and IMO the result will depend on him being in the team or not. Anyone got any idea on what the team have been woprking on during the break? (please someone tell me its been defending)
  18. Bit late on the update but the event went really well. weather was great and everyone got through to the end. felt it the next few days but very much worth it. Pics are here if anyone wants to take a look and cheers for the support and sponsors. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=28083683319
  19. To be honest I think its hard to tell how many are staying away because they dont have the money and what money they have they dont want to waste it on something that doesnt currently entertain them compared to how many are staying away because Lowe and Wilde are here. If the boycotters are making a difference then they will see our club go to the wall which will make things worse for all of us. Will they then become the new Lowe and Wilde? The ones we all have a dig at for getting us in this mess? I can understand there frustration and I do agree on many of there views but I dont agree with sitting back while the club falls. Surly a more effective way of making a point would be to boycott certain games rather than every one. Show the board what support they are missing on the last home game of the month every month. The team would then still get the support for a majority of games and the board would get to see how many people are genuinly unhappy at the situation while having a better chance to service our debt and make us look a little bit more attractive to possible money men looking to buy a football club. If the above were to become a reality I think it would gain more support from fans that are maybe on the fence and it could be a bigger weapon the fans can use. I fear that the ammount of people genuinly staying away because of the 2 at the top to be allot less though so little impact would be made. The stay away fans are more because the product is not what has been promised and there is little hope of it getting much better. Unless the team can really start to get things right the attendances wont get much better.
  20. I dont know what the problem is tonight as the manager stated a couple of times in his interview that the fans were boo'ing Ashly Young!!!! As for the real point though, I can understand boo'ing a substitution when we dont think the right one is being made and can understand boo'ing a result when the team (including the management) could have done allot better. But every player in a saints shirt on the pitch should be getting our support. As someone has said above they are not intentially making mistakes and are, or at least should be, following team orders in the position they are playing or how they play that position. Some of the stick wright and Euell got last year was uncalled for even though I felt the same frustration.
  21. Dont think he is in full training as any contact is still a worry. I think he is back in full fitness training and ball work but it may still be a while before he will be looking to get on the team sheet. Somewhere central midfield is my guess on where he will end up. maybe in the hole with Lallana going wide?
  22. Is this the player that Benthelegend used to talk about? He does look so dominant so im guessing it could be? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/team/?page_id=6587&player_id=1
  23. I hope your right as without Morgan we lack ideas and instruction in the middle of the park. If Gasmi provides this then we should have more options. if only he could be compared to Zidane lol
  24. I would say our playmaker is Morgan and lallana doesnt do that much to provide for anyone else. He is the type of player that can turn a game upside down and decide the outcome but he cant do it on his own and needs people in the team that will give him the breaks. Anyone else noticed how poor we play whe Morgan is injured? For me he is the key to our season and we either need another like him or wrap him in cotton wool.
