I think what winds me up and maybe some others is the sudden jumping up and down claiming how evil lowe is, yet when the real facts and not the fabricated ones that are used to suit peoples agendas are available they are just dismissed them as if they mean something else. some kind of coded message to the resistance or something. I dont like Lowe personally but untill there is a better alternative there is not much I can do about it.

So basically what your saying is that someone can publicly say one thing then its fine to change that and make up what you think they really meant and call that fact? but under no circumstances believe anything that is said that might show Lowe as not being the bad guy for a change?

They have printed the transcript Alps. How can that be a round to anyone? I find it hard to understand what the hell Basset is on about sometimes, he is difficult enough to listen too and 2ice as hard to read. The comment about letting harry get on with it could be taken in so many ways. Is he talking about the fans? The board? more time? backroom staff? I know there are some obvious ones there but he up'd and left us so he decided to not try, he didnt want to speak to half the backroom staff even though he publicly accepted and welcomed the likes of woodward. He has proved that he can go to a club and pull of miricles but it usually involves spending a load of dosh on players and wages. The only place he hasnt done that is at Spuds and to be fair they have a fair amount of decent players there already. I cant believe all the haters were jumping up and down shouting facts that were never spoken and they were claiming the more sensible posters were going to be the laughing stocks. lol

You were going so well untill that point lol I think Woodward could have been given a better go but the deciding factor was that Rupert Lowe was involved. Had we got a chairman with billions to spend and he was the one bringing Woodward in then I think the press and everyone else would have given it a fair crack to see if he can bring anything to the table.

I think people are reading Bassets comments of Every week Harrys selection was picked over and believing that it means Lowe was picking the team. Does the manager not pick the team from the squad he takes to each game not long before kick off? Could it be that the normal monday meeting they all have is when Lowe picks over Harrys selection? Lowe - We have a a very good acadamy, are none of the youngsters ready for your team selection? Harry - I dont think so Lowe - My staff in the acadamy tell me 1 or 2 are ready for the step up Harry - I have not seen enough about them to think they are but some might make the break through at some point Lowe - I would like to see 1 or 2 get a chance like Dyer and Walcott as they seem pretty good, we also have 1 or 2 defenders that could be good and we always seem to come up short in defence. not hearing the quotes for myself I will take what has been said as what Basset said and think that we will either hear something from Lowe about it being a load of donkey balls or threaten court action or at least something as I agree now as I agreed before that it is pretty daming. Or we will hear from Basset with a statement of how he didnt mean it to sound like it did and Rupes just asked more questions than the run of the mill chairman type of rubbish. either way I dont think we will get any nearer to the truth of what actually happens from lowe to manager or what happened back then. the thought of Rupes picking the team is absolutly mental and should not be tolerated by any manager but as we have been through a few im surprised more havnt popped up and said this is what happens. maybe now basset has, rednapp and strachen and gray will follow suit. cant see that happening either though.

hey I can only give my opinion but if you dont think that counts thats up to you. I dont doubt that lowe had other reasons too but considering the financial mess we are in then its not beyond the relms of reality sheding pearson made sence in a cost cutting excersise also. or next will you be telling me that saints are not really skint and there is a massive cash reserve at SMS that Lowe is hiding just so he can pay divedends to his supporters while he blows rasberrys at all that oppose him? if pearson was on half as much as has been reported then getting rid of him was more than likly down to wages seeing as anyone who was on a wedge was either shipped out or benched for a long time. its only since stern has been out of the door that skacel got his place back in the team and my guess is that if the kids had done better he wouldnt have got his place back either. lowe must have had a pretty solid argument to convince wilde to join up with him and give crouch the boot as when crouch was sitting on the fence it was he that would have been happy for all 3 to work together and wilde wanted no part of lowe.

this statement has been backed up several times so its not a wind up. im sure some of the stay aways are down to the fact that lowe and co are back but if people are going to stay away while lowe is here then they may as well stay away until someone buys his shares. its doesnt matter what title he has got as he has proved that he can still change things from behind the scenes when crouch was in charge.

Im getting confused as to who likes Lowe and who doesnt on this thread as it seems the sensible posters have turned up with decent arguments. Had to put up with mr ....... and his fantasys all day. The thing that the sensationalists are getting mixed up with is the thought that Lowe is picking the team/formation/tactics on a daily basis rather than the normal input any chairman is entitled to give at any football club. Sure we would be better off if he had nothing to do with our club but all the main shareholders have given good enough argument as to why they havnt got a clue and we all long for someone to come and buy us. Have Crouch and Salz got the right credentials and backing to do a better job? Who knows? but I dont exactly get excited at the thought of them being at the helm although I would like to be convinced otherwise. I wonder if the Echo run a story on this or if it builds more momentum. It would be nice to hear what Basset has to say to expand on it or clarify what he was trying to say. Would also be nice to hear what Lowe himself thinks about it. IMO if there are any more reports they will just be to clear what was said and it will all die down rather than a public slanging match between all the ex managers and Lowe.

IMO the team is showing signs of not being too bad. If the defence can get meaner and we can be more productive in our shooting then I am confident that we will do pretty good considering. Right now we are just about better than relegation but I do think we will improve. If we improve then the diminishing numbers will start to reverse and we will get more revenue. the bank will be a bit more leanient and give us more time to recoupe. If we can go this route without administration then I am all for it. and if things continue along this form then we will become more attractive to anyone wishing to buy a football club. Look at it this way, if this system does work then we will be a club that is servicing its debt and moving forwards on very low running costs. If we achive better league postions year on year then we will have a club that is improving built on simple but effective policys. I have no problem supporting that and dont give a monkeys if Lowe is at the top or if it was the banks idea. If it doesnt work then we will be looking at relegation and hand in hand with that will be administration as the debts we have will be too much to cope with. If that is what comes then so be it and I will again support the club in its attempts to rebuild however it chooses to do so. i dont think we should go jumping into administration just on the bases that it will get rid of some posh knob that has been a shareholder in our club for god knows how long.

I've honestly come round to that way of thinking ................... that you dont really have a clue. Administration would bring with it a points penalty, no-one is going to opt for administration while there is still a chance we wont get relegated and the banks will try to support us. if either of these things change then administration will surly follow. with that any and i mean Any saleable assets will be sold to the highest bidder, which wont be very high. Our start to league 1 will be with the same people that we have in charge now as they will try to make the most out of a situation where they may lose allot of money and get the club balk dead cheap minus debt. we will also probably start with yet another points penalty and a team made up of under 16s and the odd journy men that would also struggle to get us out of league 1 and do there best to save us from yet another relegation fight. And you would support this rather than support the club trying to bail themselves out of it?

Where is it stated that he Interfears and undermines his managers? His policy of playing youngsters was just a suggestion back when we could afford a half decent team to bring them into and has become a policy since the banks became the decission makers in all things financial. I dont have a clue what your ona about in your second point so ill move on ............. Yes Lowe is the PLC chairman and it is his job to make the shareholders happy. Right now if the club goes into Administration then the shareholders wont be best pleased so its not in his interest for that to happen. it is also not in his interest for us to be relegated or to sell all of our players so he has to ballence all of that with trying to keep a team that has a chance of survival and making enough revenue to, a) keep us from going into adminitration and b) keep the shareholders happy. Come the transfer window he will be forced to sell for 1 reason. The bank will tell us how much money they want back so we will sell to find that ammount. in a nut shell and rightly or wrongly how much the bank want back come the transfer window is down to us. if we stay away for what ever reason the bank will want more money. if we could fill the stadium each week they would want less as they would have been getting the debt down throughout the season. Now if we dont turn up and the bank take more which means even our better kids are also out of the door then less of us will turn up next season and so on so the bank will lead us to admin as long as we stay away. I dont call that supporting lowe I call that supporting our club and no i am not happy with it but no matter who is in charge we are in the same boat so have a word with yourself and deal with the actual issues rather than your dislike of some nobby at the top.

But did anyone listen to what he had to say when he was here? Why should we all listen to him now? If he came out and said Le-Tiss was a prize prat whoes ego was too big for the club would we all jump up and down having a hissy fit then?

1st season out fo the prem and people think we will bounce straight back up so attendances will stay high. change in the board gets fans thinking there is some kind of revival going on so attendances stay up play offs give us hope that the following season will be our time so attendances stay up completly arse season ending in a relegation fight followed by really bad finances which leads to losing our best players/highest earners and guess what? our attendances go down and they keep going down while the results continue to get worse. Some of that is down to the return of lowe cause TBH I dont want to go there and support him but I know many people that just cant be bothered to waste there money when they know we are half the team we once were. Its peoples choice to be like that and maybe if Lowe wasnt around people would have a bit more loyalty with the club while it goes through its bad times. But the only replacements dont seem much better TBH so do we support the club and hope it drags its self out of this mess or do we stand back and continue to watch it rot?

I can see your point but IMO peoples hate for Lowe have blinded them from something quite simple. What basset has said could have been said about any chairman. Wenger could say it about his board at Arsenal. He could be royaly hacked off at not being able to buy the worlds best players and have to make do with promising youngsters!!! 1st read and it comes accross as really bad but read it again and he really hasnt said much that isnt said elsewhere. Yes teams are happy to play us as we are shakey at the back, wernt we last season too? Lowe wants the team to intergrate the youth more and has done for some time. In fact we could afford to bring in more youth with better class experience before where as now we cant afford to keep the experience so have to flood the team with youth. No-one likes our current state and I doubt there are many that like Lowe but people jumping up and down because a chairman wants his club run a certain way is a bit far fetched.

How many people last season that went week in week out thought that it was a load of sh1te and wont bother coming this season? I think you will find that some of the decline is certainly down to last season and some of it is down to what has followed. Had we given a few teams a few spankings then the gates would be much higher but at the moment we only look stronger when we play away from home.

Strange how so many would rather get there knickers in a twist about what an ex employee has said rather than something that will actually benifit our team init.

im sure the figuers can be interperated in many ways but maybe the fact that we did so poor last season and we dont have the funds to improve the team with stars also has an impact on how many turn up? This doesnt matter who is in charge, If crouch had gone down this route because the bank said so then we would have the same team and same attendances. Only thing that will improve the gates will be the results or a proper takeover with money being splashed on the team.

Are you argueing against yourself? You say that he is selling to protect his investment or are you saying he will be selling to keep the banks happy? Agree with your last point though as its the only way our fan base has a chance to unite and our club to move forward.

cause some people dont like lowe and anything they can grab on to to make there point they do. I dont like lowe but cant see him doing much else that most other chairmen do at there clubs.

But a few years ago we could afford to be not so kamakazi and not rely on so many of thae youth. There were a few of them that were ready and there are a few that learn fast so some of the financial problems could have been eased earlier while bringing the kids into a stronger team. Pie in the sky stuff I know but there are differences beteen then and now.
